  1. All I can say is WOW - the building is an outstanding piece of architecture and the first Christmas show by the Cleveland Symphony was just as impressive. I would recommend attending the symphony to anyone that enjoys music. Quite an evening, except for the $6 a glass for wine at the restaurant nearby.
  2. I'm looking for anybody that has carb syn gauges that live in Cleveland Oh that I could use to verify my own gauges. Thanks In advance. PM me
  3. Back during the 80's when I had an '83 Royale, I visited this dealer (Bob's Cycle) in Cleveland, TN quite often on my way to the Smokies. It was a family owned dealership and seemed to cater to the touring rider (as in large bike) back then. They kept a good inventory of accessories and clothing, as well as a good inventory of bikes and had a good service department. I see they are still in business and wonder if anyone is familiar with their offerings now-a-days, as I am riding a 2nd generation RSV now. Most of the Yammy dealers around my area, don't carry much for the Venture Rider. It is all order based...and they cater mostly to the cruisers, dirt riders, water craft and 4 wheelers. Thanks in advance for your views.... Andy....

    Swap meet

Recieved a flyer in the mail today for a Giant Motorcycle Swap Meet at Cleveland, Ohio on Sunday March 14. Has anyone ever been to this previously? Is it worth going to? Says that I could rent a space. I've been to car swap meets before but never a bike one. Should be pretty big being in Cleveland.
  5. This is absolutly a beautiful town. The hills and roads are great. People here are friendly. My only problem was I came from S. Ms through Atlanta. What a mistake! Traffic was terrible. Be heading back tomorrow through Franklin and Murphy to Cleveland. This was a quicky so I'll have to come back to do all the roads around here. Pisgah NF I was told was pretty. Anyway, got some good footage on my gopro. Ride safe all.
  6. A quick update on ME. Had an apt at the Cleveland Clinic a week ago and the Neurologist is Stumped. He has ordered some more tests, 0ne being a MRI on my spine to see if it shows why I don't have very much feeling in my hands and feet. Then I am to see their neurological opthomologist to see why I'm dizzy and have blurred vision. But since my daughter's twins delivery, I a lot more worried for her and the babies. Please keep my family in your prayers.
  7. My wife Shirley and I would like to thank Don and Ilene for their great hospitality and welcoming us into their home. This was our first maintenance day visit and it certainly will not be our last. Did I mention the food was fantastic, and kudos to the chessecakes. Great work ladies!!!! We only had a short ride in from the east side of Cleveland, and along the way, we met up with a group from Canada. A special thanks to Carl and Marca's group for allowing us to ride in with them. Thanks to a great bunch of guys, I was able to get a lot of useful information.
  8. Well now, I'm going to be flying up to Cleveland OH Friday and picking up a 2001 Venture. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Yamaha%20Venture/CarMotorcycleOct2008032.jpg So I want to take a pretty direct route from Chardon OH to Cleveland GA, but I want to avoid the interstates and enjoy some nice roads. I'll be nursing a bad shock, so I'm not looking for the best twisty roads, just some nice backroads, small towns, and scenic byways. I haven't started looking at details for this part of the route yet, but it looks like I'll probably leave Cleveland OH on 42 through Mansfield and skirt west of Columbus. When I get to London take 56 across I-71 to Mt Sterling and pick up 62 skirting east of Dayton and Cincinatti to head for Lexington KY. I'm hoping to get on the road Friday afternoon and ride for a while and find a room somewhere between Cincinatti and Lexington. If I get an early enoug start I'd like to make it to Lexington, but I know that's going to be a stretch. Saturday I'm thinking maybe leave Lexington on 27 south to Somerset and then on into Tennessee and all the way to cross I40 at Harriman TN. Then maybe scoot over to Lenoir City and Sweetwater where I can pick up 68 and head back through Tellico Plains and around Pine Ridge pick up 294 to 64 where I can catch 129 back down to Blairesville and on home to Cleveland GA. I'm open to suggestions for roads to avoiv or roads you recommend. Unfortunately I won't be able to stop and smell the roses and I'll need to be on time to meet a couple of my riding buddies who are going to head north Saturday morning and meet me somewhere around Sweetwater TN and escort me home. Thanks again to Freebird for checking out the bike and everyone who has posted here sharing your experiences and knowledge. You really helped me out and I look forward to meeting you on the road one day soon. James
  9. I'm thinking about flying in to Cleveland, OH to buy a Venture and riding it home to Georgia. I was just wondering if there was anyone close by who could check it over for me before I make the trip up there. I don't suspect any real issues, but it would be nice to have someone lay hands on it. The owner did say he thought I would need to replace the rear shock, and has adjusted his price for this. He said service was done at the dealer, so I'll check with the Yamaha dealers nearby and see what I can learn. I guess I could arrange for an inspection by the dealer as another option. The bike is located about 30 miles from Cleveland in Chardon OH. Thanks! James
  10. My wife and I will be Leaving Mountain Home, AR enroute to Penn State University in Williamsport, PA for training. We will be traveling mostly interstate via I-70, I-71, and I-80 through St. Louis, Indianapolis, Dayton, Cleveland, and Akron. I would like to meet some of you and maybe have lunch or supper. Will are traveling on an 86 Venture. Please pray for a safe journey.
  11. I'm thinking of catching a game at Progressive Field (didn't you guys used to call it Jacobs field?) on August 30th. I've been able to watch my Seattle Mariners in Chicago but I'd like to go to Cleveland to see a game. It's an afternoon game so it starts at 3:55 P.M. So, do any of you Northern Ohio folks want to watch a baseball game? I'd love to ride up and catch a game with some of you guys. Bob
