There will be plenty of rear wheel greasing going on, bring the grease you want to use and some basic hand tools and it'll get done.

Longer days will get easier as you get used to the bike. If you dont have highway pegs or a backrest, get them, they will help your long distance comfort. As far as the dry splines, if your at all mechanically inclined....do it yourself, dealers suck!

Nice work to all of you that have made this happen, you make us very proud to be Venture Riders

Yes I did make them, unfortunately that is one of the last pics of that particular '99 I owned. The rear tire on that bike blew outside of Baton Rouge LA and we wrecked the bike @ 70 mph. I parted all the salvageable parts out, and sold the covers....I can't recall who bought them

I have done many over 1000 miles on several of the 1st gens I owned. Last year we rode my '89 up to MD in Oberlin Ohio from Houston Texas. That trip was over 3200 miles, no worries and get the VR assistance list and put it on your bike. There are many brothers and sisters here that will help you out all over the USA and Canada should you have an issue.

Seafoam is a good idea and works well, what I also have and still do is run the carb out of fuel. I do this on my '79 Electra Glide as when I 1st received the bike it had been setting for 15 years. My friend who owned it ran it out of gas before he put it up and when we tried to start it up, it was running within 3 times of hitting the starter. If you know your bike is going to be sitting for a prolonged period this can work well too

All the best Gary, my younger brother had a similar surgery about 12 weeks ago and his pain relief was very substantial. Mind your P's&Q's, do what the doc says and get back to better health...Semper Fi Marine.

Curtis, That is a fairly involved job, and there is going to be a lot going on there. It's doable, but make sure you have all the tools you need with you and start early in case you run into troubles.

Glad we could run away from work for a little while. As always it's great seeing you, even if it's for a short time, we'll work on heading West and visit with you folks soon

What kind antifreeze should I get ?
Squidley replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Fuzzy, Any good quality (Peak, Prestone) will work, just the simple green antifreeze will work. I know some folks mention the 50/50 mix, my logic on that is your paying the same money for half water. Get a gallon of the full strength and mix it with distilled water, I hate giving folks money that they dont need and or deserve. Regular antifreeze is compatable with aluminum engines as many of the cars made in the last decade have at minimum aluminum heads and some have aluminum blocks. KISS keep it stupid simple and you'll be fine- 6 replies
