  1. www.mecum.com sign in with email address to view. or channel nbcsp next week
  2. With so many of us traveling to Maintenance Day I wonder if there is a VentureRider.Org "standard" CB channel that is used. Anyone?
  3. Do any of you over here in the UK have any idea how to change the radio so I can pick up Uk channels? My '08 Venture was imported from the US new. So far I can only recieve the odd channel very badly. I know that Dobels Honda change the US import Goldwings, but they won't spill the beans! Thanks if you can advise what to do.
  4. I just tried my CB for the first time, and it doesn't work. CB comes on in "TX" and Channel 01, but that's it. Cannot even change channels. Everything else works great.
  5. I have a 2005 Royal Star Venture. Recently (this riding season) I have been experiencing a problem. When listening to the radio, and trying to talk on the cb, the channel changes when I push the talk button. If the display unit is on the cb display, the cb channel changes. I've checked the connections in the fairing, and they are all good. Was wondering if maybe the talk switch was bad? I did have to spray some cleaner into it to be able to transmit. Any thoughts? Thanks, George
  6. Probably a one off, but if a heads up helps anyone .. Had a meltdown couple of weeks ago (the 87 VR & me). Noticed the back half plastic fins on the right side-vent were warped. man was I pi@@ed, anyhoo, this was the only symptom of the motor overheating. it was extremely hot combined with city driving must have launched the motor temp. Temp gauge held steady slightly above normal on the green entire trip. (still don't understand why the temp gauge didn't redline) Didn't notice the fan cut in at any time, not to say it didn't, it is functional. There doesn't appear to be engine damage. Long and short of it, found the top of the 2 part front cylinder head cover/heat deflector had come apart and partially slipped forward between the front cylinders and the rad fan. The upper cover is secured to chassis frame by friction fit and connect to each other by a rubber channel and a dozen interlocking male/female rubber prongs. Repositioned covers and end of problem methinks. Checked front cylinder head covers this morning. Sure enough, they're separating slightly at the rubber channel. Reseated again, maybe zip tying them together would be one fix. Hope I'm on the right track here. left fin in image is normal. tough getting decent pics of the cyl covers.
  7. Hi all..new to the forum.I have a 09 Venture trike that I bought last fall.I have just got around to getting a set of Chatterbox headsets.I have the radio and cb working thru them . Now the newbie question. In order to use the intercom feature do I talk on a CB channel or is there a seperate setting for intercom? The book is useless in this regard. When I push the talk switch nothing happens unless I am in the CB setting. Thanks Dean:)
  8. I'm going to ask what i hope to be a dumb queston. The CB on my bike seems to be stuck on channel 9. I have pushed every button on the thing but it won't change. I see there is a preset button for that channel, could it be stuck???
  9. We've got a TV shoot with Discovery Channel coming up on Tuesday December 6th for any of you that want to get your mug/bike/car on TV. Just come on out to the Gap and they will be shooting us shooting you all going by. We need some subject material! And it would be nice to have a mix of bikes, so don't be shy about bringing out your cruiser/touring bike/dual-sport whatever. Keep it sane, they're just looking for casual riding/driving and we don't need the place portrayed a tool's paradise any more than it already is. Go to killboy.com
  10. Discovery channel will be at Deals Gap taking pics and filming on Dec 6th if anyone is interested. here is the link. http://killboy.blogspot.com/2011/11/random-update-november-29-2011.html Nrian
  11. my wife.... Sitting at home last night flipping between the porn channel and the fishing channels. When out of no where my wifes yells at me.... Oh, just leave in on the porn channel.... You already know how to fish.
  12. I've never used the CB in the 2 years I've owned the RSV and haven't used one in a vehicle since the 70s. In about a month I'm taking 3700 mile trip and thought I might want to use it for road and weather conditions. So do MC riders have a channel they monitor or do you have to put up with all the trucker chatter interrupting my music?
  13. Does anyone make one? Have been looking but to no avail. Seems to me it wouldn't be that hard to do: An aluminum channel same shape and thickness as the bottom of our stock windshield about 3 inches wide with receiver lugs in a channel on top side. top piece would sandwich bottom of stock windshield on top side and fit into reciever on bottom side with a quick release. Could also make a interlocking finger pattern between the two with one set screw. Hardest part would be getting the perfect bend. Love my windshield on the cooler days and interstate riding, but when it gets to 90 deg... At slower speeds it sure would be nice to take it off ... and possibly put it in fabricated shell that attaches to your luggage rack to protect it... Help I need more Wind! er... let me rephrase that... Help I need more AIR... LOL

    HF Axle ?

When you guys flip the axle over on the trailer to put it on top of the springs, do you still rest it on the flat part (open channel up) or the round shaft side( open channel side down as in manual on the spring? Weld plates on or just drill the shaft to align the spacing? thanks
  15. Hey all: was on ebay tonight and saw an 07 venture listed, has studded seats, and chrome emblem on saddlebags which makes me think it is an 06, anyway the listing states it has a weather channel, band, does it really have a weather channel as according to my owners manual for my 07, i can't find anywhere where my 07 has a weather band. appreciate any imput cause I would really use a weather band if mine had one. See the ebay listing below Thanks Brian D. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Touring-Bagger-MIDNIGHT-VENTURE-BAGGER-TOURING-EXTRAS-GPS-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem43a65edbc4QQitemZ290554043332QQptZUSQ5fmotorcycles
  16. I have seen post this week about snow and winter. Here is one way I pass time away in the winter. When my honey do's are done. OnaQwest put together video of a trip him and his wife did this year. He calles it An American Story. Here is his YouTube channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/OnaQwest909?feature=mhum Some of the video is around Cody WY Plus check out motorcyclefreedom channel. Michel and Marcia's does a geat job of putting video up. http://www.youtube.com/user/motorcyclefreedom
  17. This started today, not sure if it's weather related or not.. muggy, a wee sprinkling of rain on the bike today. Whilst riding the bike, I use the up/down buttons to go through the preselected channels.. all worked fine until today when it started to be non-responsive.. It wouldn't change channels at all.. But after a few mins it would work ok. When to problem occurs, the "band" number (upper left FM1, FM2 etc) would show as normal but the channel number (lower left) doesn't appear, just the channel itself.. Is this a common problem with a common fix?? Cheers
  18. My radio seems to dislike the cold. A couple of days ago, I could not get the radio to turn on. When I got home, I turned on the CB... ok. Then the radio...ok. Switched them all off... ok. Today, on a rode, I was slowing for an intersection, and heard loud but garbled voices. The CB had switched itself on. I cannot turn it off, change the channel, or switch to headset. I also cannot get the radio to come on. Is this a fair weather radio I have on my 08 Venture? Is there a quick fix? Or is this a guarantee job?
  19. I for the most part over the years have been happy with them. I am not crying over the recent lost of some Fox programming. One side says this and the other says that. Who knows what is really going on. The truth is somewhere in the middle I suspect. I do (well did) watch SOA. I won't be any longer if or until they reach an agreement. If not, oh well. I am not leaving sleep over it. Kids and I did like National Geographic channel though. Just means more Nick Jr. for them. Anyway starting my story now. I am window shopping to either go back to cable or another satellite provider as hoping to find something a bit cheaper for the same channels I like. I wanted to compare the channel lineups from the others vs. Dish. I do this by printing the lineups for each provider. So I am on the Dish Site and do not log in. I click on the learn more button under the current programming (America's top 250 btw). There is a field labeled Region. I enter in my zip code and press the thing that looks like a sideways triangle. To the far right of that in small letters there is a button that says print. I clicked on it which takes me to another page and a print dialog. I click cancel on the print dialog. I scroll all the way to the bottom and in the local channel section I don't get my local channels. I have tried this several times. I have gotten San Fran, Houston, Evansville (at least closer), and tonight DC. Obviously not Indy. So I e-mailed the web-master saying your site ain't working right and here is the steps I took. I get a response saying local programming is not offered in my area. Uh, yeah it is. Part of response to them was did you actually try and do the same thing as me before you responded? So here is the experiment for everyone here. Follow the steps as I did and see if you get the same type of results.
  20. Sunday night at 10 on History channel "Most Dangerous Roads" Should be interesting.
  21. I thought I knew everything.... but Im..... puzzled...... The right channel is not working !! Any suggestions
  22. Twice in the past month I have experienced what I will call a cb/radio freeze on my 06 RSV. I always ride with my cb on to communicate with my riding partner. During the ride I decided to turn the radio on to listen to some tunes but nothing would work? The unit remained functional on the cb channel selected but I could not change the channel, turn on the radio or even turn everything off. The only function that worked was the volume control. When the ignition switch had been turned off during a gas stop upon restarting the bike the unit functioned normally again. Did not take it to the dealer since everything was working fine but now it has happened once again. Anyone else ever experience this radio/cb freeze up?
  23. So the real question here is: Would they be an interest in Riders monitoring a specific CB channel while riding that would allow riders traveling in different areas of the country to make quick, easy contact? It could be know as the VR channel by members. If there already is a desiginated channel, I appolize for not knowing. I ask because, I love to meet new Riders when I travel and I am planning my 4 week trip East for the month of September and don't want to miss meeting many of the members I have enjoyed on this site. Just wondering if there is a CB channel the VR riders frequent during travels. Years ago motorcycles would monitor channel 27 to communicate when traveling in different directions. I don't travel Interstates very often so I stay away from ch.19. I have tried to raise several motorcycle on channel 27, with no luck, guess ch.27 is old school and not monitored much any more. Please respond, I hate to miss a good place to eat, stay or just kick the tires with someone new.

  25. I finally gutted my cassette player and wired for an mp3 player, as some post have been showing. When I connected everything back up. My radio is stuck on one channel, unfortunately the last channel I was on is Not my favorite. none of the preset channels work now, and they were not able to program them anyway from the previous owner, because the memo button didn't work. I used the scan button all the time because of that. I don't think it is related to the mods I did. BUt I would surely like to use the radio. Any suggestions? As far as the mp3 player connections. the volume is so low I can barely hear it any suggestion on that problem as well?
