  5. Hey all: was on ebay tonight and saw an 07 venture listed, has studded seats, and chrome emblem on saddlebags which makes me think it is an 06, anyway the listing states it has a weather channel, band, does it really have a weather channel as according to my owners manual for my 07, i can't find anywhere where my 07 has a weather band. appreciate any imput cause I would really use a weather band if mine had one. See the ebay listing below Thanks Brian D. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Touring-Bagger-MIDNIGHT-VENTURE-BAGGER-TOURING-EXTRAS-GPS-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem43a65edbc4QQitemZ290554043332QQptZUSQ5fmotorcycles
  6. I am fixing to head out for my first ride this year. Will probably only be 2-3 hours but I am EXCITED ! I just put the HD clutch spring upgrade in last month so will be looking forward to see the results. I do have a question. I decided to jump on the Rotella T band wagon. The thing is I bought the white jug instead of the blue. Will that hurt anything having the non synthetic for one change cycle?

    SwampDaWamp

I'm not usually one to push band onto anyone but, KromeRose and I went to the Freedom Fest Bike Rally in Fayetteville NC Saturday the 4th. Originally we went to see Rebel Son a NC edgy Southern Rock (with the emphasis on Edgy) band. We also saw Confederate Railroad, but the first band that opened up impressed us the most. They were called Swampdawamp. What a name. I got to say though they were a great Southern Blues Rock band. They had great stage presence and really put on a heck of a show. We are going to see them again in Kinston NC on the 17th then on to Raliegh the next weekend to see Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Black Stone Cherry. Check them out, they could be the next best thing in Southern Rock. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dmyMQiNsC0]YouTube - "Dance"[/ame]
  8. I've recently found out that Eagle Nest, NM has a 4th of July parade. I've also heard that it's usually attended by about 5000 spectaturs, which I find is very remarkable given the small size of the town. Anyhow, to "toot my own horn" so to speak, I've signed up to play in a band for the parade. A former band director from Amarillo, TX now spends 3/4's of the year in Eagle Nest. He had the brainstorm of an idea to form a band for the parade. I just happened to find out about it when looking up some old friends on Facebook. Anyhow, if any of you guys and gals just happen to be attending this parade this year, keep an eye out for an exceedingly tall tuba player riding on a 20' trailer with a bunch of other former band geeks.
  9. Hi there. Just can´t help but brag a little about my youngest son "Valli". He just turned sixteen this summer and is the leader in a mellow rock group in Iceland called "Hinir" (The Others). The band consists of six youngsters from the age of fourteen to seventeen. My boy is the lead singer, guitar player and songwriter and even though I say so myself the music is more advanced than one would expect from such young kids. The song called "Living was easy" has a story behind it: In 2003 my father, Valli´s grandfather passed away unexpectedly and it was the first loss my sons experienced. We went through the procedure of greeving for some time and tried to stay strong and stick together and as time went by the wounds started to heal little by little. Then about a year ago I was browsing the internet and looking at some poetry when my older son´s name came up. I clicked the link and it took me to a poetry site where one could post his poetry. There was a beautiful piece full of love and grieve that my son had written to his grandfather and it just melted my heart and brought tears to my eyes. He had never told us about this and I respect that all the way and it tought me that our kids have sides that they do not always share/show us parents. The week after we were at my youngest sons graduation at school (he was fifteen then) and his band was performing in front of five hundred people. He introduced the first song as a little song he had written when his grandfather had passed away three years ago (he was just turning twelve at the time). Me and my wife were just big question marks. He had never told us about this and we had never heard him sing. He had his twelwe string Seagull guitar, started the instrumental intro and then began singing. Tears were just running down my face - just could not help it - it was such a beautiful performance and the sweetest song I had heard in a long time and brought back memories of my father. He was a professional guitar player and I think it is O.K. for my son to quote Kenny Loggins by saying" I am a living Legacy of the leader of the band". You can listen to the song as well as two others by clicking this link (or copy and paste into your browser). www.myspace.com/hinir Hope you forgive me for bragging. I am just very proud of my sons and the kids in the band.
  10. Has anyone "dug deep enough" into the radio on 2nd gens to determine if you can auto program all eighteen FM radio presets without encountering "duplication"? I've tried a couple of different sequences of selecting Band 1, Band 2 and Band 3, and going through the a/b/c/ automatic channel writing steps......but I keep getting some of the same stations appearing on more than one band. Suggestions? (Please don't say "buy a satellite rig" :-)

    Tony Snow

:Sad_0241:Lamenting the death of Tony Snow today. Tony was not only a nationally known TV and radio commentator and former WH press secretary; not only was he a family man, well liked and respected by anyone and everyone. He was only 53. He was also one helluva musician! He could play a terrific alto sax, flute, and guitar. I saw him and heard him play with an 80's band in recent years. He was gracious enough to let my wife take a picture of me and him during a band break. He'll be missed. I know the band, "Beats Workin", will miss him.
