  1. I have a 1996 Royal Star and will not shift into higher gears.. 1st ,2nd and 3rd are good.. I looked at slave cylinder and working fine. I tried playing with linkage some and Know luck.. Anyone have any thoughts..Thanks Joe
  2. Just after Christmas last year, there was a discussion where at least a few of you had gotten guitars and were starting the learning process. So...how goes it? How many of you have stuck with it and how many of those guitars are sitting around collecting dust now? I slacked off a bit but have gotten back into it over the past few weeks. I took too long a break from practicing and let my fingertips get soft again but they are getting back into shape now. Still playing my Seagull and have taken it on the weekly trips for the past few weeks again. I also finally broke down and took my old Epiphone to a highly recommended Luthier and he is in the process of setting it up and making some repairs on it. I bought it new back in 1971 or '72 so it is almost 40 years old now. He is resetting the neck, repairing a couple of loose braces on the inside, dressing the frets and various other things. It still looks great but needed some attention to get the action improved. I'm probably spending as much on it as it is worth but I guess it has some sentimental value to me so I told him to go ahead with the work. He did give me a GREAT deal because his business is a bit slow this time of the year. So..how about it...are any of you experts yet? I know that I'm not. It just doesn't come natural to me and I will have to work at it a lot harder.
  3. Yeah I know, it's the watering hole, but some of the 2nd genners might be able to help me with this also. I am looking for a right side upper fairing cover, the one that holds the speaker and right side components. It doesn't have to be perfect, but I'd like one that is all there. This '83 I'm playing with right now needs one in a bad way as it's pretty much all gone and broken. If any of you brothers can help me out I'd appreciate it
  4. This is a good time, draws a lot of motorcycles and is FREE!!!!!!!! Mt. View Ar. is a neat old town, the square is closed for mc only, the bike games are a hoot to watch and lots of vendors. There will be local musicians playing at different spots in the evenings, and a band playing Sat. nite. We saw them last year and they are pretty good. This is not a very big town and rooms are going fast. August 17-19 Here is a link, from the home page click on vendors.....pic of a nice RSV yammer 2k1 http://www.mountainsmusicmotorcycles.com/?page_id=273

  16. Playing with one of the new functions on here I think. Under quick links there is a "Social Groups" Option. I started one for those of us both Bikers and that also fancy themselves muscians. So if you play, sing, beat on boxes with wooden spoons or whistle for fun, and love music then lets get some discussion going on our other passion as well! Post up some messages in the group about your favorite instruments, memorable gigs, or how playing is Zen like, similar to riding, anything!! Just thought I would experiment with the new options, at least I think it's new:confused24:
  17. I read Don's thread @ http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15376&highlight=surging. In that thread he mentions "Surging", what would be the description of that. I run my mini Shuffle with a cassette adapter and it act like it changes sides when playing. It will always keep playing but there is a pause about every 15 seconds or so. Is this what Don is referring to?

    Very bad song

A while back there was a thread asking what is the WORSE song that you have ever heard. Well....this is not the WORSE but it is very close to it. Plus, it is about riding and playing the guitar...two things that I really enjoy. So without further ado....I give you Arlo Guthrie and his motorcycle song. 20. I'm not much into sport bikes but this is a nice bike. Wouldn't mind playing with it for a few days. 180 HP twin cylinder. http://www.webbikeworld.com/ducati-motorcycles/ducati-1098-r/
  21. I have a 87 venture and it has been running fine for the last two years. About two weeks ago I went for a ride and it stalled out on me while going about 30-35 mph. It felt like it ran out of gas. I got it started again but had to keep playing with the choke. It did this for about 10 min. then cleared up and ran good. About a mile later it started again.I've had fuse problem before so I checked the fuse box and the ignition felt loose but after playing with it, the bike started and smoothed out. I put a new inline fuse holder in and the bike been running great till today. Today It did the same thing, feels like its out of gas. Starts running rough, no power could not make it up a small hill. I was able to keep starting it and limp to a friends house. Then it just started to run fine again. Road it home around a 15 mile ride with no problem. Any helpful hints or has anyone had the same problem. It was in the 90 here today and thought about vapor locking, but it never had problem on hotter days. Jerry
