  1. Howdy to all. I am asking for suggestions. I am planning a 2 week ride with my brother next September. We have been talking about riding southern UT. for a few years. We need some suggestions for roads, lodging, eateries.... We want to include Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand canyon north, Glen canyon, Canyonlands, Arches... We plan on having to do some camping along the way. we want to avoid dirt roads. Thanks!!
  2. Hi All, Just wondering if anybody knows of any wreckers or parts yards in the southern Phoenix/Maricopa area. Wifes on vacation down there and thought I'd get her to look around. Thanks Markus(calgaryrider)
  3. Yep the white stuff is back here in the Southern Tier NY
  4. Per CNN....happened this morning : A tornado emergency was declared in Madison County, Alabama, as a large and dangerous tornado was reported to have caused widespread damage in the city of Meridianville .... In adjacent Limestone County, just west of Huntsville, at least one apparent tornado was reported.... Forecasters said the areas most at risk for twisters on Friday would be southern Indiana, southern Ohio, most of Kentucky, central Tennessee, northeastern Mississippi and northwestern Alabama. Hope our members in those areas are safe !
  5. Here are a couple of Gems we have down here in the Southern Tier in NY. Anyone who has been to Spragues Maple Tree Farm knows how good the food is. And I'm just letting everyone know their making maple syrup now. On weekends in March you can check out the process and the suger shack as well as have a great meal. Another gem down here is Cartwrights Maple Tree Inn another family owned maple syrup maker and they have a resturant thats only open from Febuary 14 thru April 15. There you can get all the buckwheat pancakes you can eat and try their maple syrup products as well. I attached the links to both places if you can check them out you won't be sorry you did. And Spragues is a favorite stop when the WNY Gang rides and well as our 3rd Angelica M&E in May. Thanks for checking them out http://spraguesmaplefarms.com/ http://www.cartwrightsmapletreeinn.com/
  6. Now I know we have a lot of good ol boys from down south that can cook....This Yankee is a southern boy at heart...Anyone have any great recipies that would like to share them... you know...gumbo, fried chicken, gator, possum , grits, corn bread, turtle soup what ever you would like to share...I love it all. Wish we had a venturerider cook book.............
  7. Wonder if it comes in Pink could be a big seller for our VR Group Riders in the southern states http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AwQw_lwcRu0 Dray
  8. Any group rides in the area this weekend the weather looks good for Saturday here in UpState NY, Western NY and Southern Tier NY.
  9. It's going to be clear, sunny and in the 70's for the next week or so here in southern Arizona. Anybody wanna go for a ride?
  10. Brrrrrrrrr! Just checked the thermometer. IT'S ZERO (= 32 F) outside!  I just bought the insulation and wall covering for the garage so guess what I'm doing tomorrow? I don't want to take on stripping and working on the blonde beast when the wrenches are so cold you can't even hold on to them! I envy you southern folk....you can ride all year, don't have to pay for furnace oil or snow tires, and never have to shovel 10 inches of "partly cloudy" ......what can I say..... I don't want it to be winter!!!!
  11. One of the WNY gang is trading in his 1100 V STAR and picking up a 1600 Kaw NOMAD this morning from Pioneer motorsports.....Wonder who that might be ?... Only saw one person at my rally sitting on it with love in his eyes......I'll have to go back and check out the pictures again............Serously, Buffalo Bodnar and I are heading down to the southern tier to pick up his new (to him) ride this am and then to shake it down ......will post pics later today...Congratulations Kenny
  12. Anybody here work for these guys??
  13. Not sure how many golfers there are in here, but this is one of the best golf deals going, so I figured even if just one of you is into it, its worth it. I just finished my yearly order. For $30 you get $2500 in savings, 2 for 1, 4 for 3, half price at a bunch of courses, with weekends at some places too. Two thumbs up! You can see the courses available and specials at the following site. Southern Ontario based. http://www.thegolfpak.com/
  14. In my local paper was an article for a free tourist map for motorcycling along the southern Ontario coast of Lake Erie. It has some handy info, routes and if you wish here is a free pdf version for your use. http://www.cruisethecoast.ca/CruiseToTheCoast.pdf There is also a free paper version that can be ordered here: http://www.cruisethecoast.ca/
  15. ...and wondering if it would be a good idea and turn out as good as the first one.
  16. Hey you southern boys, Hows the weather for riding now. Nice and balmy? :snow2::snow2:
  17. I'm beginning to plan a weekend in Southern Indiana for anyone who may be interested. We had such a great time in Lexington Ky over Memorial Day, and several of the Ky folks mentioned that they'd be interested in a Southern Indiana ride. I'm from Northern Indiana (the FLAT and straight part of the state) but have ridden Southern Indiana a lot in the last 5 years. Willing to share the great routes that I know, and willing to have others pitch in with their routes if they'd like. Anyway, I am thinking of either the first or second weekend in October. We'd meet up on Friday evening for dinner, have a full day ride on Saturday and another on Sunday. Folks could come for both days or one....whatever your preference. OK....who would be interested? Any preference on the weekend? Let's hear from you!! Joe
  18. This morning it sure feels like fall. I was wondering if there were any plans for a ride in Iowa ? Wife and I are thinking about a trip into southern Iowa to see the fall colors, and stop at a festival if we can find one.
  19. Pam and I had a good ride with the Dixie Thunder Run (dixiethunderrun.org) yesterday. About 400mi round trip to Meridian. Only a couple of familiar faces in the crowd, and as far as I could tell, no other Ventures??? (I did see a 2007 (?) Venture with the Voyager kit at Chunky River. Who was that??) We joined the southern group at Camp Shelby. I'm guessing about 200 bikes or so on the southern group. Hit a wall of liquid sunshine just outside Meridian, but only lasted a few minutes. The northern group from Tupelo arrived a couple of hours later after a rain delay. They supposedly had about 400 bikes at one time along the way. All in All, a good day... Rides coming up; Sept. 26 ride to the MS Pecan Festival in Richton. Meet at 'The Shed' hwy 57/I-10 at 0800. Oct. 11-18 ride to Key West. Nov ??. Sat or Sun ride to 'Renaissance Fair' near Hammond, LA. Angola State Prison Rodeo?? Let's plan for that...

I'm not usually one to push band onto anyone but, KromeRose and I went to the Freedom Fest Bike Rally in Fayetteville NC Saturday the 4th. Originally we went to see Rebel Son a NC edgy Southern Rock (with the emphasis on Edgy) band. We also saw Confederate Railroad, but the first band that opened up impressed us the most. They were called Swampdawamp. What a name. I got to say though they were a great Southern Blues Rock band. They had great stage presence and really put on a heck of a show. We are going to see them again in Kinston NC on the 17th then on to Raliegh the next weekend to see Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Black Stone Cherry. Check them out, they could be the next best thing in Southern Rock. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dmyMQiNsC0]YouTube - "Dance"[/ame]
  21. To all my fellow riders in the very deep southern parts of Canada like Texas and Arizona :rotf:you don’t know what you’re missing. The temperature in Ontario hit a blistering 5 Celsius (41 Fahrenheit) and I couldn’t stand it anymore No one wanted to ride because it was to darn cold. The sky was cloud free, so I mounted the iron pony and set out though places like the Niagara escarpment, Beaver Valley, River Road and Osler Bluffs. Three hours non stop, and I was frozen stiff when I got home. It took 1 ½ hrs to thaw the smile off my face. Thank god winter is only 6 months long or I’d have to move to southern Ontario around Jacksonville or Tallahassee. I'm sure glad spring is here. Ride safely and enjoy the season.

  23. Anybody in New England know of a store that carries a good line of Helmets? I 'm a tough fit and really hate trying to buy a helmet thru the mail. The Dealers in this area don't carry much selection. I would be willing to drive a distance for a good selection. Prefferred area... Anywhere in Southern NH, Western Ma, Northern CT. Next... Any opinions on a nice comfortable helmet? Something that has room for the Headsets? Like to keep costs under $200.00 if I can. Thank you
