1. Rode the BRP with the wife yesterday. It was truly glorious, although very busy in some areas.
2. Last fall ,I replaced my rear breaks on my 05 RSV .(with 17,000 miles on it.) At that time they were warn paper thin..So yesterday I decided to replace my fronts...(in the fall..dealer told me fronts were at 30 % left on pads).Well to my surprise when I pulled my pads, THEY LOOKED LIKE NEW...I never liked the way the front brakes felt or sounded..needed a lot of preasure to slow down or stop and was afraid I'd lock the front by using to much force ..The only thing I noticed is that the front brakes were matelic and the rears were different...I replaced them anyway..Did I mention the fronts would often squeel or groan on a hard stop.. IS this normal? Shouldn't those brakes have been shot by now? I always use my fronts for stopping..I find it odd that there was so much pad left..
3. Just checking to see if there is enough interst in getting together to tune carbs. etc this fall in Borger. If there is enough interest, I will set something up.
4. My father was active and in good health. Yesterday my father (age 78) took a headfirst dive down the basement stairs. My mother heard the fall and he was bleeding and unconscious when she got to him. She called the paramedics (3 ambulances and 8 paramedics showed up) and they were able to revive him and transport him to the local hospital. The local hospital did what they could to stabilize him and then had him transported to a big hospital with neurosurgeons on staff due to bleeding in the brain. What is known so far. many deep lacerations on his head and body. Fractured scull fractured eye socket fractured vertebra in the neck fractured clavicle 3 broken ribs in the back. He is spitting up blood so more testing is coming to determine its cause, as well as a full body scan to see if any other things are broken / damaged. They have not yet looked at much of anything below the chest yet. The doctors have said that none of his injuries appear to be life threatening but they are still very concerned about possible brain damage. When I got to the hospital the doc was asking him questions, he did not know what year it was or who the president is. He did not recognize my mother, my sister or me. He has no recollection of what happened. Most of his right side is not working but the doc said there was no stroke or heart attack that caused the fall. He will be spending some significant time in the neuro ICU.
5. OK, I was going about the task of changing the clutch slave. Problem I am facing is taking the crankcase cover off. It looks like a bunch of gears are going to fall out with it, along with the case itself being very stubborn. Anyone in the Vegas area familiar with taking these covers off without destroying everything?
6. According to the Star website, the 2013 lineup announcement will be Sept. 12 at 12pm eastern. Don't fall off the edge of your chair before then.......
7. Anybody have a good handle on when we could experience fall colors? We had an early spring. We had a hot summer. Not much rain this year, kind of dry around here So does all this effect the fall colors? We're seeing spots of color already here and there. Want to plan a ride,,, but when?
8. Now verry proud of my 1986 1300 venture, smooth ride, i realy like it. But only need suspension, engine and wheels meening ; will make my naked venture this fall is that motorcycle to hold, or will it have some one interested on cosmetic parts???? ciaow
9. Black Owl and I (Bubber) will be traveling to LaPorte next weekend 7/28 to finish up the Pig Roaster we started last Fall. Not all that much to do but it needs to get done and ready for the guest of honor, Mr Porkasourious. :rotf: Gary when you read this this is the only warning you get that we are invading your workshop. LOL I have got to get with Black Owl to finalize the lift off time and slash down and just the other stuff in between other than that we are all set. If any one is interested in lending a hand or just stopping in to see to old farts working and offering your 2 cents worth about the design... have at it! Other than that see you all in the Fall at the Pork in the Pines. Bubber
10. Went out this morning stood up on garage roof and shoes started to slide. Sat down and it did slow me down. A little. Right off the edge!! Lucky I was on the lowest corner only about 8 feet. Landed on both feet. Should have tried to land on the good one. Bad one didn't care for that but seems OK other than complaining a lot. I'll be limping pretty good for a while again but I've had plenty of practice. Thankfull I'm not really hurt. Easy fall if I had to do it. Gonna let Jeff have this falling stuff. I can't hide mine. Oh Well back to roof. I didn't get any pics of me coming off there. Guess I'll have to have the Warden stand by with camera.
11. Anyone here try to straighten one of these out? Was doing some cleaning this PM and had the bike in a position that caused it to fall to the right (as I set on it)...Top of Bar is bent Upwards...Repair, Replace Thoughts please... Long Tall Lynchburg, VA
12. This has been a good fall (weather wise) for riding. At least it has been for me here in the great state of Arkansas.... I haven't been around this site very long but it seems there aren't many ride reports with pics. I for one enjoy reading about member rides and seeing the pictures from other areas. Here are a few pics from a recent ride up hwy 7 and a stop on the little red river. Show us your fall pics...................later, yammer 2k1
13. Wow!! I have lived in central Oklahoma all my life, and have never seen such beautiful fall colors as we have right now. Understand, Oklahoma, especially central Oklahoma, has never been a fall tourist destination and still may not compete with the north eastern states. But for the area the colors are the best I have ever seen. Either that or my estrogen levels are way up and I'm turning into a girl!
14. Well I guess the weather was a little to chilly for some, we only had 3 bikes show up for RoyalStarJack's fall ride, but it was a great ride anyway, Jack, his wife Cheryl, RandyR and myself braved the chilly temps. We made our way via some beautiful back roads that were so colorful it was hard keeping my eyes on the road. We had a nice lunch at Col. Pooles BBQ, which is our regular stop on this ride, from there back roads all over the N. Ga. mountains with a couple of stops to take some pics. The weather was chilly but beautiful. Thanks again to Jack for a wonderful way to spend a fall Saturday. I had to make this one, it might be my last ride like that for a few months, since I will be having Carpal Tunnel surgery on my left hand in Nov.

16. The weather is a little cool, but that doesn't appear to be slowing them down. Several are here and enjoying the 70 degree weather. Not a bad turnout for the fall week and a city that doesn't want to be biker friendly. Could have fooled me.
17. Pioneer Motorsports is hosting a Fall Ride this Sunday October 2nd. Pioneer has been good to us Venture Riders so we should show our support and join them in the run. Thanks http://emarketing.morethanrewards.com/admin/temp/newsletters/3101/spyder2.png
18. Heading out to Gatlinburg on the bike a little later today for our fall motorcycle trip. We have 4 couples that make this trip every spring and fall to ride the Dragon and blow off a little steam. If you're in the area and see a blue flame Venture, be sure to say howdy. You all have a great weekend.
19. I will be in DC on business over the Columbus Day weekend. I Have three days off and what to take a road trip to see the fall colors. I will be in a rental car so bike issues are not relevent. I am thinking Penn? Any Suggestions? Thanks.
20. When I first met you all those years ago, I fell in love so fast, I knew right then, You were the one and only one for me; I'd never have to look for love again. Each anniversary finds us happier; You are my light--my moon, my star, my sun. You show me what real love is all about, You fill my life with pleasure, joy and fun. As time goes by, our love grows stronger still. You're the most amazing man I ever knew. I prize our anniversaries because Each year I fall deeper in love again with you. Happy Anniversary Honey!!!
21. Phil and I got home from Eureka Springs this morning before the temps really heated up. It was wonderful to see old friends and to make new friends. We did have a power issue the last 30 miles. But this is the last ride until fall - we hate riding in the high 90 and 100 degree temps, and the bike is going up on the lift for it's summer maintenance.
22. How do you store mc tires? Do you store them on their side or on the tread? I got a heck of a deal on two Dunlop D-404WWW, so I bought them. They were made in early Dec. 2010 and I won't install them until next fall. They are covered with a tire plastic with elastic in the center to keep it fairly tight. I will not put them in the garage attic due to heat, but will leave them on ground level.
23. Took a short a ride ride after work tonight. My girl was a little chilly so we pulled over so she could throw on a hoodie. Came to a parking lot and turned it around...came to a stop and put my feet down and didn't notice how much of a slant we were on. ALMOST caught it.... but before I knew it...it was on the crash bars. We climbed off and I was shocked. It really doesn't fall too far. I grabbed it and picked it back up. Checked it for damage, could barely see the bars had touched. Pretty darn cool. Been riding since I was 18, almost 24 years now. This is the first time I have ever had one fall over while I was on it (short of a wreck back when I was 18). Embarrassing but not much I can do. My girl was fine and the bike is unhurt. But I guess I now owe a donation to the fund? Who do I pay? Frank
24. Last fall I posted here that I was selling my bikes, but then came fall - winter and , well , you know how it goes... We park the Jeep in the driveway (because the garage is filled by 2 1st Gen bikes) and this week the Jeep was broken into and everything was rifled thru. It turns out that many of the cars on the block were broken into as well. Since I travel for my job and my wonderful wife is home alone - she is a bit upset (to say the least). Now the bikes really have to go. Make a serious reasonable offer and take them home with you. I'm in Winnipeg MB right now, but when I get home this weekend I'll post pics (after going to buy and install a motion sensor security light).
25. I would like to share some past memories of our motorcycle club "Tulsa Touring Riders" events. The first one is our fall gathering with the "Ark Regional Voyagers" in 2003 http://www.photoshow.com/watch/Ch5gH2jZ Phill
