Radiator Problem
scottbly replied to GaryZ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have one from an 83 and one from an 84 I can give you cheap. Shipping plus a six pack. PM me if you as are interested. -
I disconnected the speedo cable from the wheel and duct tape it as high as I could to something higher than the speedo. Then mounted a funnel to the opening of the cable and poured motor oil into the funnel. I let it sit for a couple day. Problem gone for years. That's Army engineering.

My 85 Brown Fox may be dead...
scottbly replied to PBJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I could use the two vents from the lower fairings. I lost mine when I hit something that fell off a truck on the freeway. Knocked them both out when I went over the debris. -
Here are photos of both my parts bike showing, what I am told is, marking indicating dealer repair of 2nd gear. I don't know how dependable this marking is, everything I learned about Ventures I learned from this site. Of course my primary bike does not carry the mark.
-
I will take some pics when I get home. The bummer is the 83 Venture I ride does not have the mark. Somewhere along the way I picked up two parts bike and both of the have the mark. My 83 has about 43k miles with no issues, but I am holding my breath.

I have two 1200 engines that have the punch marking indicating that the 2nd gear issues have been repaired by the dealer. I would give one to you for a case of good beer, but you gotta pick it up. In california.

I have a display unit that I don't need if anyone wants it. I ride a Venture. I bought a VR parts bike. The display did not respond when I jumped the battery. If you want it for shipping cost only let me know. -

scottbly replied to tcoop's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I had the same problem on my front brake when I bought an 83 that had been siting for years. I just keep releasing the pressure and the problem eventually went away. -
I will be in DC on business over the Columbus Day weekend. I Have three days off and what to take a road trip to see the fall colors. I will be in a rental car so bike issues are not relevent. I am thinking Penn? Any Suggestions? Thanks.

Need to Replace Electric Hot Water Heater-Opinions?
scottbly replied to RSTDdog's topic in Watering Hole
If available, switch to gas. Typically, electric is 3 times more expensive per BTU then natural gas. It may even be worth installing a propane tank if natural gas is not avail, especially if you are considering switching other appliances to gas. Propane is usually half the cost of electric. The decision to go tank or tankless is secondary to the fuel source. Scott Certified Energy Manager Association of Energy Engineers -
The truck was gone by the time I pulled off the road and parked my bike. I am not sure if he dropped the cart or if he had stopped to move the cart off the road. No police, no insurance claim, I just cleared what was left off the road and came to work. Luckily I did not have to go home to changed my shorts.
