  1. The Arduino platform is sooo cool! I am consistently amazed by what talented folks do with these boards! Thanks for sharing the code! -JK
  2. I use goo gone on computer plastics all the time without issue, if in doubt try it on the windshield below the trim line. I bet you'll have no problems with it.
  3. I ran a plugged rear for two years city driving with no problems. I picked up a drywall anchor in an almost new tire so there was lots of material for the plug to grip. That said, road rash at 35 mph over what you get at interstate speeds needs too be considered. What speeds do you typically ride at? -JK
  4. Try building the EBCD on a system you have access to, it will need a cd burner and the ability to burn a bootable CD from an ISO file. Once you build the CD, use it to boot the windows machine and follow the prompts to override the lost password. When doing this, blank the password as reassigning a new password has had mixed results. On win XP you can blank the password or possibly overwrite with new but you will not recover the lost one. After you're done with the EDCD restart windows and login! It will still ask for a password, but hitting enter with only the user name entered should get you in. 5. Stronger electricals mean a better, fatter spark. More spark = more mpg!
  6. What is the diameter on the trunk?
  7. Almost all the cars and trucks from that time had 85 mph speedometers. This went with the 55 mph speed limit and was meant to give the driver the illusion of speed. After all 55 mph on a 140 mph speedo face is hardly moving right? -JK
  8. My employer charges me 1100 per year to park my truck for work so I don't. The charge for my bike is 120 per year for the same lot so I do --but it makes winter rough. My 3500 dollar bike has paid for itself twice now, I can't say that for any of the four wheel things I drive so I guess the cost of ownership is relative. I ride every day so I win big!
  9. I use real seals and they balance the tires on their noses! Makes actual riding more difficult though... -JK
  10. A crossover is a vehicle targeted at the car buyers market that has a higher ground clearance. This qualifies the car to use "truck" standards in gas mileage and emissions.
  11. Hi folks, anyone know where to find the chrome truss head screws for the chin, side radiator covers and the two very special windshield garnish screws for my '87 first gen? Previous owner hacked mine into rusty little blobs of steel. I've tried fender washers and the like but nothing seems to be as good as the screws that were made to fit. Maybe someone has a stash in a coffee can they would part with? Thanks in advance!
  12. Dan might need a water tower. -JK
  13. My '82 GL1100 puffs a bit sometimes and it's been doing that for years now. It's no big deal really and it's never been enough to cause an issue with oil levels. Hold your breath and ride away! At least it doesn't leave a mess on the driveway! -JK
  14. Don't actually run this stuff through a 2 cycle though, you'll burn up a 2 cycle in short order. Fill it up with proper mis without sea foam after the soak and you might find happiness, -JK
  15. The actual thumb switch seems ok since it clicks off the first time the cancel circuit kicks it off. The cancel system never gets the news that the signal is really off though. -JK
  16. Hi folks, have a (rare) problem on my Wing. The self cancel continues to self cancel even though it has already canceled successfully the first time. All signals are working fine and the blinkers cancel at rates I'm happy with but the continual clicking at the switch is a distraction as it attempts to continually turn off an already canceled signal. Any wisdom on this? Thanks! -JK
  17. Seems if you tour at all you end up running ethanol mixed fuel out of necessity. I don't see many dead bikes in the slab so the ethanol isn't the most likely. I ran E-10 in my Goldwing for years and it still keeps going. But then it's a 'wing! -JK
  18. I used to sell them at the local (and rather old fashioned) hardware store. If you're a mail order guy, check sailrite.com under marine fasteners. http://search.sailrite.com/category/fasteners-hooks-marine-snaps-canvas-fasteners Luck! -Jim
  19. Add me in for one as well. -Jim
  20. Zero here this morning and I'm warming up the truck when all of a sudden it sounds like someone shaking a coffee can full of gravel outside. Ran out to find the neighbor had a diesel delivery truck in his driveway! Now that sounded truly awful, I thought mine threw a rod. Everything makes new noises at those temps, even the snow squeaks when you walk on it. Best! -JK
  21. Dome tents are the best. Depending on where you camp, the other shapes will have trouble with wind. I have a three pole and a two pole 2 man and both are good but the three pole is that much more solid. Add a short length Therm-a-rest mattress to keep your back in shape and you're good. The whole kit is compact and effective. I'm 6'6" and there is room for my wife and our camping stuff. Lisa and I made our way on a 2 week trip by camping three nights and rooming on one with this set up. Fair winds! -JK
  22. As I understand the red light law in WI, no other cars can be present when you go through it. If the cops see you go through aren't you in violation? Maybe I'm mistaken in my view. Later -JK
  23. Got caught last year, this year I put the ride away yesterday and it snowed 2" overnight. It makes a good story whe things work out. -JK
  24. It looks as if everyone should get a round of tickets. I see failure to signal, double yellow / no passing zone leaving an accident etc. I also think that's a lot of brake slide and smoke for a 35 mph zone. The cage was likely more at fault for starting the crash but this situation happens so often in urban commuting that the final straw was inexperience of the rider. I get "lane shared" once or twice a summer commuting at about the same speed and after the first four or five times you can see it before it happens. Bummer that somone got scuffed up though. -JK
  25. Guess countersteerig is out of the question huh.
