  1. I've had my 2004 venture for right about a month now. I noticed a little oil under the crank case breather tube and discovered it was probably because the oil level was too high. I changed the oil and put a little less in than it had when I got it. Although it was still close to the top of the sight glass when the bike was level. The crankcase tube leak has stopped but now I've noticed twice during the past week or so oil dripping from near the left rear cylinder. Last night I pulled the oil filter and drained a little oil hoping that would solve my problem. I cranked the bike again just a little while ago and now its smoking pretty bad. Any thoughts or ideas on what could be causing the new leak and smoking? Advice on how to remedy this problem would be great as well. BTW this bike has a little over 64,000 miles now and I'm still running Amsoil 20W50 just like the original owner has for the life of the bike. Thanks
  2. http://www.tomroush.com/inventory-details/title/indianapolis-in-westfield-in-used-1982-chevrolet-corvette/vehicleid/504376135-3004b2 Still a bit high IMO, but much better. If only I had the $$$ http://www.fritzinfishers.com/1978_Chevrolet_Corvette_Fishers_IN_150882095.veh
  3. New Venture owner here. I just purchased a 84 Venture. It has 36K on it and is cosmetically in great shape. The problem is that #3 cylinder is oiling out the exhaust.....alot. So much so that it will eventually foul the plug. Goes without saying that it smokes terribly. The kicker here is that it won't start smoking until the engine has been running for 2 or 3 minutes. I would think that if it were rings, that it would start smoking at startup. I am wondering if I have a cracked head, possibly near a valve guide that the crack opens up as the head heats up. Anyone have any opinions on this? BTW, great site. Lots of great info here.
  4. yea, this is it. Another year has gone by. Hard to believe. Is it just me, or do the years go by much faster every year. I hope you all had a wonderful christmas and Santa got everything you were wishing for. As for me, I made my New Year resolution, (like I do every year) I'll give up smoking!!!. Yea, like that is really going to happened. :fiddle:My wish for all of you my friends is health, success, and happyness for all the years to come. stay warm:snow: God bless Renate
  5. I am curious to know how many of our members have been smokers once in their lives and have since quit....due to health reasons or because it is not socially acceptable any longer. Watching old movies or re-runs of all the shows we watched in the 50's and 60's always portrays people smoking. Especially the old sitcoms. Everyone smoked. Lucy and Ricky...Dick Van Dyke...Ward Cleaver etc. etc. etc. I quit smoking in May, 08 and although I am very proud of myself...I miss it. What are you're thoughts?
  6. This past year has had it's share of challenges. First, my job slowed down so I started a new job Sep 1st, after 11 years with the same place. 2nd, my oldest child died on Sep. 22. 3rd, my mother died 12 days later. 4th, I got carpel tunnel in both hands. 5th, I got laid off about a month ago. 6st, the one that is my own fault and probably the stuppedest thing I could have done, after quiting smoking 13 years ago while going through treatment for lung cancer, I started smoking again a few weeks ago. I can't believe that after 13 years, the first sig was like going to heaven, it tasted great. All I can say is if you have quit, don't have just that one sig, you could be hooked again.
  7. Believe it or not it seems that my wife and I have both stopped smoking. It has been 5 weeks so far and we are both doing great. I just put them down and havent touched one since, she started out with the patches and is almost off of them. It amazes me that I have spent so much money over the years on this. We decided to put back the money that we would have spent on smokes and do something with it so the first thing we did was buy a new set of tires for the bike. I have been wanting a set of avons so we decided to go ahead and get them before our trip to gatlinburg next month. We stopped smoking with two other couples who are our best friends, one couple is hanging in there with us and the other couple only made it a couple of hours. now my problem is that the dang dryer seems to be shrinking all my clothes again! :big-grin-emoticon:l
  8. All I done was fire up the wood stove at the camp and the party started. Pitter patter of many feet dancing in the attic. Nuts rolling across the floor, chatter of conversation. I thought it might be Saturday night bowling in the camp attic. Then I read that February is the annual mating season of the flying squirrel. Ramona and I watched a movie about pissed off squirrels doing a little nut cracking of a different type. Not sure now about smoking them out in the spring.Flying squirrels eat meat to so at least they keep the insects down.Another thing about that old house. I have never seen any sign of mice.Still that upstairs attic gets noisy when the party starts.
  9. Last night my son and his fiance tied the knot. The girl he married was as beatifull as the angle she is.From day one three years ago his bride had made herself a part of the familly and almost instantly became like daughter to us,so welcoming her as part of the familly was easy seeing as how she already had become a part long ago. Of course my son could not for go getting me in trouble with my wife one more time. He invited me to go outside for a drink and a cigar. I am not or ever have been a smoker and my wife detests smoking and my wife caught me smoking, she was not pleased to say the least.Other than that the banquit was great excelent food, good music and a wonderfultime was had by all.

  14. I know this is a forum for topics related to motorcycles -but- seems there's a lot more of just plain old "communication" going on as well so..... I'm quitting smoking! I have set a "butt out" date of next Tuesday. I am on the pills (there's a new product out now) and I've reduced my smoking from a pack a day to less than 1/2 pack a day within 2 weeks. Anyone out there gone through this or going through this? Any comments / suggestions / or just plain old "communicating" about it you'd like to post?
