  1. Ok, I've given up on my dream for an affordable rear shock for the 2nd gens. Part # 4XY-22210-10-00 The best price I can find on a rear shock is $348.02 + 17.50 shipping for a total of 365.52 from www.motorsportssupercenter.com from www.motorsportssuperstore.com , it's 375.77 + 5.95 shipping with my RSW discount. from www.yamahasportsplaza.com , it's 343.32 + 19.32 shipping , total of 362.64 So come on all you cheapskates, find me the cheapest shock. Im pricing the 2008 model shock, it's different then the 99 model. Hopefully it's more gooder.
  2. Rusty Wallace Racing Experience came to Texas Motor Speedway this past weekend and held a 2 day event where all of the profits were donated to the cause. I also donated my time for the event and pretty much shot photos non stop for 13 hours each day. Long days but well worth the effort. Texas Motor Speedway also stepped up to the plate for this also. It rained late Friday night and the track was wet Saturday morning. Someone made a call and the lights were turned on so we keep going until 9 o'clock that night. I don't know what the grand total was for the event but my photo event trailer had a total of $8200.00 that was taken in for the foundation. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/RW1of1-11_zps2e80565d.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/RW1of1-10_zps3b769b44.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/RW1of1-3_zpsc1a2c77b.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/RW31of1-6_zps935511d9.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/RW31of1-9_zps3dfcdf04.jpg
  3. My source is still avalable. For a price guide the 5 3/4 inch will be just less than $10.00 includes (mailing to Canada and US and PayPal Fee). There are very good quality patch, both sew on or iron on. And the cost are very very reasonable. Sizes in inches 3 1/2 5 3/4 7 9 14 For Now all I need are the sizes and quantities. After I get the total order I'll then be able to get the group pricing per each size and will PM each individual for confirmation, Name, address and payment type. Please wait until I PM you before you send the info requested. It makes the house keeping process easier. Attached are some pictures of what I did. Cap 2 carry bags Coat
  4. I bid on the motorcycle covers(listed on Flea Bay) shown on the lower portion of the VRO home page. I thought what the heck and bid on all three. Well I won the bid for $0.01 each. Yeah that is a PENNY each, with $49.00 total for shipping the three. Don't know what I'll get, but 3 XXL covers for less than $50.00, what the heck!!!
  5. im not as talented as others with fabrication, so, i bought one of these reservoir mounts for my Garmin 1490lmt. total cost was about 55.00.
  6. So far we have a total of 11 interested. If I can get a total of 20 orders the cost would be $19.50 each and that would include me buying the mailer and also the postage. I myself would be willing to buy 3 extra making it a total of 14, for those who might be interested after the order is placed. Of the 11 interested maybe there might be 6 people that would buy 2, being that this is a pretty darn good price and might want to give one to a friend for say a Birthday or maybe a Christmas present or maybe your friend did you a favor and you just want to say thank you. For anyone buying two the 2nd would be $17.00 for 2.50 less on the mailer and shipping. So please indicate if you, the below, want 1 for 19.50 and if you would be interested in ordering 2. In your reply I need your Name Mailing Address. If the total confirmed order count is less than 20, I will then ask for a new price for that order and get back to each that order. friesman1 MasterGuns Flyinfool dingy yamtom Wizard765 camos KIC gscbertrand Indiana Hayseed PB&J .
  7. Hey guys, I need your input on an idea I came up with to provide a total seat solution that will allow you to remove both seats without any tools. For some time now several of us have come up with seat nut solutions that allow us to remove the driver seat without any tools. These have ranged from plastic nuts, wing nuts and my solution of using a nylon locking nut pressed and glued into a Press-Fit knob. But, this solution requires some extra assembly work where I have to drill out the center of the knob, tap threads into the nylon ring in the lock nut to the point of just the right friction on the seat bolt, and then glue and press this nut backwards into a press-fit knob, where the glue I use requires overnight to dry properly. Right now I have been selling my seat thumb nuts for $6 which includes postage to anywhere in the US. So for another $2, I could also provide a set of stainless press-fit thumb bolts. And putting these together is just a matter of pressing the stainless allen bolt into the same knurled knob and it's ready to go. So with both of these, you would have a total tool less seat solution. So if you don't mind, let me know what you think of this idea. I have attached a picture of both sets of seat nuts/bolts. Thanks, Rick And FYI 1st Gen owners....I already provide a total tool less seat solution for your bikes
  8. This site is costing me way more than 12 dollars a year. First thing Road king mod around a 100.00 bucks. Then aux cables for Ipod an splitter at the cassette deck 240.00 (including Ipod ). Avon tires 330.00 and now Steve Wagner grill 170.00 that's a total of :headache: 840.00 not counting what the wife has spent. But that new grill sure looks purty. But all of these new friends is priceless.
  9. I found this on ebay for $70, it is installed, looks and works Great. Total of an hour to install. This is real effective in lighting up the back of the bike.
  10. The time is drawing near for our annual St. Jude/Mean Dog Memorial ride to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tn. The date is Oct. 1, 2011. We will be meeting at the Flying J Truck Stop in W. Memphis, Ark. Time to meet there will be 11:00-11:30 am for lunch, then head over to St. Jude for 1:00 pm to tour the hospital. If you haven't been to St. Jude you are in store for a moving experience. I never tire of seeing that facility and it really brings on a range of emotion that I can't overcome. They do fantastic work there in helping these sick kids that are suffering from cancer and associated diseases. I will probably still have some Vogel shirts left along with patches and Cruisin for the Kids support bracelets, that I will gladly pass out for those who want to make a small donation. And remember we will be meeting up with the North Alabama Road Riders, who by the way have challenged us in the fundraising effort, so we can't let a small group of riders from Alabama beat us. At this time I am not ready to make known our total for St. Jude, but I will say this, we have surpassed last years total and are now headed for a new high total.....:clap2:............Looking forwad to seeing everyone there. 11. I have been agonizing over what to get for new tires. Avons have served me well for the last 9000 miles but it's time for new rubber. I have not had a cracking issue with the Avons like lots of others but it is a concern. Dunlop E 3's seem to be the number two choice. Last week I took the RSV to a friends place and we weighed the front and rear wheels separately. Here are the results. The bike weighed a total of 911#. This is with the typical accessories, trunk rack, bag guards, Passing lamps etc. Also basic tools, rain gear etc. that we all carry and 3/4 tank of gas. Out of that 911# the front was 382# and the rear 529#. Then I parked my 220# butt on the bike and did the tippy-toe thing for the next weights. 1,130# total, 446# front and 684# rear. Here is the interesting part, (and you have to assume that about 85-90% of the passenger weight and 100% of the bag and trunk weight goes on the rear tire) with a stock rear tire Dunlop 404-74H you have 143# left for passenger, luggage and stuff. Pretty close to the 419# GVWR. With a Dunlop E-3-77H you get an extra 81# or a total of 224# left over. Probably a safe number for most of us. Assuming that Manufactures leave a little fudge factor in the ratings, I still will be going with the Avon 80H to get that extra 84# over the E-3 for a total of 308# for passenger and extra stuff.
  12. Funny thing is I sold a Vmax to get the Venture. I really thought the Vmax was rare in my neck of the woods. Seemed like I seen the same 5 bikes over and over. We have 5000 miles on the Venture now and I think we have seen 3 or 4 total. They are always going the wrong way and I am always in a hurry! Are they this rare everywhere? I guess I will just keep stalking...haha Frank
  13. Well my little silverwing always did decent on gas at around 55mpg. Well last weekend I put in some sea-foam and rand it for just a bit. It has sat for couple days. Me and a friend decided to take advantage or a beautiful day and went for a ride. Total distance was 208 miles. Total gas I used 2.9 gallons. So my mileage has gone up to almost 72 mpg!!! Sea-foam is awesome. Just wanted to share. Ohh yea if you ever find yourself behind a manure spreader pass it as quickly as possible and convince yourself that was mud that was falling of of it. Shaun
  14. Picked up a set of covers off Ebay that weren't in the greatest shape. Had the chrome stripped off and professionally polished for $50 bucks, so I'm in them right around $150 total. Lot better price that buying a new set. Whacha think?
  15. Well I have scheduled to have my right knee to have total knee replacement surgery on Feb 7th. So the I will have 2 bionic knees. One other nice thing is the drugs I get also take my headaches away. Just too bad I get take these drugs all the time. :rotfl:Oh well. Please wish me well on the 7th and send a little prayer my way. Thanks.
  16. Two Ventures riding south on Hwy 27 in Broward county, with a few Harleys a Victory and a Yamaha Spider, about 10 am Yesterday. One Blue and one Grey/Beige ( about 8 bikes total )
  17. I got a quote on new tires for my '99 RSV today from my local M/C tire store in Woodstock GA (that's all they do). Seems like I've paid considerably more than this in the past. Here's what he quoted me: Metzler 880's (installed): Front (150/80/16)- $131.89 Rear (150/90/15)- $157.05 Total: $288.94 Dunlop E-3's (installed): Front (150/85/16)- $117.23 (Dunlop sizes them as an MV85 for some reason) Rear (150/90/15)- $137.25 Total: $254.48 Just curious how this stacks up to all-in prices everyone else has seen recently for these two brands. I'm partial to the 880's (as many of you know) due to the performance and mileage I've gotten on my last two sets - 15K+ and no failures of any kind. Think I'll stick with what's worked for me, but the price on the Dunlop's really surprised me, but Ken told me to expect a price increase in February when the new mfgr. books come out.
  18. Hey folks I just thought that I would put this out there. I just purchased a set of the leather saddlebags that came standard on the 96 RSTC. They also fit other years and models. These bags usually run in the $500 range and this dealership in Ohio has a bunch of them and are selling them "Buy It Now" on Ebay for $184.99 plus $19.30 shipping. That's a total of $204.29 shipped to your door from an authorized dealer. I have never seen the price on these so low. Just put this in the Ebay search engine..."Yamaha Tour Classic Saddlebags Plain 96-01 Royal Star" and it should pull up.
  19. I am just about ready to order my front tire at American-Superstore. I got the add from this forum, so I am wondering if there is a promo code that we can use in order to get any additional discounts that can be applied to the total price.
  20. 6 of us caught in total 30 Rainbow trout
  21. Beth and I completed a two week vacation on the bike a couple of weeks back. Still getting things put away and all that....it's boat loading season at work so not much time off to get things done. The total kilometerage....how's that for a word? on the Venture odometer was 8,011 kilometers. The total on the zumo 550 that was on for every foot of the trip was 6,853.6. Now that's a difference of 1,157 kilometers, or 723 miles. WOW! Thought I'd post this up....that's a pretty significant difference between the two. Interesting food for thought. gunk:scratchchin:
  22. Total as of 23/Aug/2010 - 23:10 (Central) = $998.01 (including PayPal's cut). Thanks to all who have contributed thus far! If you would like to contribute to the Wild Hair/LAPryor assistance fund, please use the link below. It is setup through PayPal. I will forward ALL of the proceeds directly to Lowell. NOTE: I will maintain a total tally and update it daily at the top of this thread. I do NOT intend on publishing or sharing any type of list of specific member's names AND amounts donated with anyone. As far as I am concerned, when each and every donation gets turned over to Lowell it will be presented as a donation from 'the family'. As for specific accounting, I WILL keep very careful records on my own - just to make sure that every penny is accounted for and re-directed AS IT IS INTENDED TO BE. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=lilbeaver27%40hotmail%2ecom&lc=US&item_name=Wildhair39%2fLAPryor%20Assistance%20Fund&currency_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donate_LG%2egif%3aNonHosted If you have any questions about this, please let me know. For those of you that have mentioned that you would like to help out Lowell. The following links give some more info, I will also briefly describe it here. The intro information on the fund effort: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52037 Motivation for the fund effort: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=51974 I have had the privilege of meeting and riding with Lowell as well as chat with him on the phone. He is a great guy. Many others know him much better and have known him for much longer than I have, but regardless he has been having a hard time lately. One piece of all of the events going on as of recently included him moving. It is my understanding that in the loading process of his 'cow-a-saki' (as he puts it) the bike bottomed out on the trailer and damaged the oil pan. Eck and some of our other fantastic members [forgive me for leaving out your names - nothing personal] are in the process of arranging the repair of L A Pryor's bike. The current estimate of the repair seems to be a minimum of $200 in parts alone. Lowell had an estimate for a total of ~$300 for the repair, but that of course did not include getting his bike from Springfield, MO to western TN where the repair would be done. So, in addition to the cost of repairing the bike there is the travel expense of getting the bike to and from the shop (which is being handled by our members). The alternative is for a few of our members to meet up at Lowell's to do the repair there. Regardless, any donation made here will be passed on to Lowell. I will NOT leave this open indefinitely but will give a few days notice before I pull the link down. I will wait until 'we' have Lowell's situation resolved before pulling the link. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR GENEROSITY AND CONSIDERATION!!!! Each and every penny counts! - Rick M.
  23. OK, so after listening to the advice in my other thread, we go looking for a Honda Reflex for my wife. Lawrenceville Honda/Yamaha (Georgia) had two used Reflexes on cycletrader.com for sale, so we drive the 75 minutes or so down there to take a look. One of them was sold, but the other was available and we looked at it and decided to buy. I noticed that the back tire has about 1/8th" tread left, so I ask for a new one. They say no and quote about $185 for a new one with fitting. OK, wife really wants the bike so we accept the deal without the tire (I can probably get one cheaper - or at least get a couple thousand miles out of it before replacing it). We hand over a check from our equity account for the total ($4499 + 94.50 doc fees, tax and 19.00 title - total just under $5k). Blow #1, they can't verify the check and do not accept credit cards, so we had to apply for a Honda Card (and pay it off within 30 days to avoid interest), which we agree to do. We've been at the stealer for about 3 hours at this point and really want to get away! We go and get a bite to eat while they get all the paperwork ready and when we get back, I realize that the scooter was on offer at cycletrader for $4299, not the $4499 they were charging. So I mention this to the salesman and he goes away and brings it up online and, sure enough, I was right. He goes into a whole big discussion with his manager and, eventually, the manager signs off on the lower price. We should have walked away long before this point, but the wife really wanted the bike, so we accepted the deal and waited for the paperwork to be redone. After a total of almost five hours, the sales manager comes over to me and says "I spoke to my boss on the phone and he won't do the price of $4299. If you want the bike, it's $4499!" - What the?????!!!!!! We got in the car and left. I've had to deal with an unhappy, sobbing wife since we left and I'm furious that we were treated this way. You can bet that the dozen or so people still in the store when we left heard what happened and even the people in the parts department were apologizing to us when I returned the Kuryakin grips I had bought for my RSMV while we were waiting. So, bottom line. For $200, they lost a sale of a Reflex, lost $102 in accessory sales (which is where their biggest line of profit is) AND lost a customer - and the custom of everyone I can tell about this! We are still in shock as to the way we were treated and, as a result, I urge anyone considering buying so much as a crampbuster from Lawrenceville Honda/Yamaha to look elsewhere. Sorry to rant, but I'm still fuming (can you tell?).
  24. Working on my 83 venture I've been keeping an eye out for potential deals on ebay. Last week I saw that a CB from a 1300 with a high bid of only $15 with only 1 day left. So I put in a bid and got it for $18, With shipping it was a grand total of $33.20 Got it yesterday and tested it today on my dad's bike to make sure it wasn't a lemon, no problems! Now I just have to put in all the wiring on my bike. So I can actually use it.
  25. Can anyone tell me how much oil goes int eh front forks. I know the book says 13.5 oz but is that total or per side?
