VR Assistance

  1. We are in the process of rebuilding our VR Assistance List. If you can and are willing to offer assistance to a member who is riding through your area, please edit your profile to include that information. Simply click on "Settings" at the upper right of the page and then scroll down to "Edit Profile". Near the bottom you will find a place to select "yes or no" in regards to offering local assistance and then a place to select services that you may be able to offer. Cowpuc just mentioned in another thread another, and maybe easier, way to get to it. Click "forum actions" in the small menu at the top. Select edit profile. Scroll down and you'll see where to select your information.
  2. This day last year I bought my Gen 1 as a Christmas Present to myself. Today also marks my 1 year anniversary as a Venture Rider. The bike has gone through a lot of changes since I bought her, thanks to the help of members here. Huge transformation from the leaky, dirty, mangy rat I picked up. I want to thank everybody here for the plethora of information, ideas, & assistance. NOW, since today is also my membership renewal date, how do you renew? I don't see a renew membership button. Do you just drop a note to Don? Andy
  3. Does anyone know the recommended adhesive or foam tape to re-attach the side badges with? Any assistance / advise would be greatly recommended. Thanks. Stu
  4. how do i get it? can i print it by state? longgggg trip comin up!
  5. http://www.trailoftears-remembrance.org/ the ride this year is September 15th ...I'm only 50 miles south of Florence, Al so IF my wife & I can be of assistance anything please let me know...
  6. Hello Everyone: If you or any of your friends are passing through our region and need assistance of any kind, please give us a call. I am very blessed. My 30 years in the phone industry has provided me with business contacts and friends in a 200 miles radius of Scottsbluff Nebraska. We also have a great Yamaha dealer "Celli's Cycle Center". Give us a call 308-765-0167 We would love to meet more members in person...Mark:)
  7. Okay, so the wife and I are leaving out on our first long road trip in June. I've been working on the trailer and plan to stay at campground along the way but am looking for someone willing to let us bunk up with them for a day or two along the way so we can shower and refresh ourselves. We will be going from Colorado Springs to Chicago, then following Route 66 down. We will be at the Eureka Springs Meet and Eat for that long weekend. Here's the map of our route: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=217067729114273134767.000498d3e23585862bb97&ll=41.376809,-96.37207&spn=22.416404,35.551758&t=h&z=5 And here's our trip book of some of the stops along the way. I had to remove the pictures to make it small enough to upload.... Nothing in it is set in stone but I wanted to at least have some ideas of things to see along the way. Although we would appreciate recommendations or VR Assistance at any of our stops along the way, if there is anyone in the Chicago area, we will be there on the 19th and 20th of Jun and need a place to sleep. Any recommendations of "must see" things anywhere along the route would be great as well! Thansk! Mike
  8. I regret to say that I have removed myself from offering VR assistance. In order to provide assistance I have to post my phone numbers(s) for contact purpose. It's too bad that someone chooses to use the phone number information for something other than to request assistance. One rotten apple CAN spoil the whole bushel.
  9. Just wondering if anyone has a good story to tell about using the VR assistance list. Other than looking for a phone number I've never really used it (knock on wood) for a break down or anything. Sure glad to have it available thought.
  10. Total as of 23/Aug/2010 - 23:10 (Central) = $998.01 (including PayPal's cut). Thanks to all who have contributed thus far! If you would like to contribute to the Wild Hair/LAPryor assistance fund, please use the link below. It is setup through PayPal. I will forward ALL of the proceeds directly to Lowell. NOTE: I will maintain a total tally and update it daily at the top of this thread. I do NOT intend on publishing or sharing any type of list of specific member's names AND amounts donated with anyone. As far as I am concerned, when each and every donation gets turned over to Lowell it will be presented as a donation from 'the family'. As for specific accounting, I WILL keep very careful records on my own - just to make sure that every penny is accounted for and re-directed AS IT IS INTENDED TO BE. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=lilbeaver27%40hotmail%2ecom&lc=US&item_name=Wildhair39%2fLAPryor%20Assistance%20Fund&currency_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donate_LG%2egif%3aNonHosted If you have any questions about this, please let me know. For those of you that have mentioned that you would like to help out Lowell. The following links give some more info, I will also briefly describe it here. The intro information on the fund effort: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52037 Motivation for the fund effort: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=51974 I have had the privilege of meeting and riding with Lowell as well as chat with him on the phone. He is a great guy. Many others know him much better and have known him for much longer than I have, but regardless he has been having a hard time lately. One piece of all of the events going on as of recently included him moving. It is my understanding that in the loading process of his 'cow-a-saki' (as he puts it) the bike bottomed out on the trailer and damaged the oil pan. Eck and some of our other fantastic members [forgive me for leaving out your names - nothing personal] are in the process of arranging the repair of L A Pryor's bike. The current estimate of the repair seems to be a minimum of $200 in parts alone. Lowell had an estimate for a total of ~$300 for the repair, but that of course did not include getting his bike from Springfield, MO to western TN where the repair would be done. So, in addition to the cost of repairing the bike there is the travel expense of getting the bike to and from the shop (which is being handled by our members). The alternative is for a few of our members to meet up at Lowell's to do the repair there. Regardless, any donation made here will be passed on to Lowell. I will NOT leave this open indefinitely but will give a few days notice before I pull the link down. I will wait until 'we' have Lowell's situation resolved before pulling the link. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR GENEROSITY AND CONSIDERATION!!!! Each and every penny counts! - Rick M.
  11. A couple of years ago, someone posted a copy of the VR Assistance List as either a .pdf file or as a Word Doc. this made it easy to download to a PDA and to easily print so I could carry a hard copy of it on our trip. Well, we have another big trip coming up in a few weeks, and it would be nice to have a copy of it on my Droid cell phone. Anyone have a suggestion on the easiest way to do this? Thanks & Be Safe! Pete. _______________ Oops! Never mind. I just found it. Just like my keys. I gotta ask first.
  12. I ran across this on the internet. Has anyone ever used this or know anything about it? https://www.mymra.com/Roadside.htm?utm_source=motorcycle%2Bmonster%20events&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=roadside#roadside-information
  13. I want to get a set of Karyaken highway pegs and they come in 1"" and 1 1/4". I measured my front crash bar and it measures between 1 and 1 1/4". The question is, should I order 1 inch or 1 1/4 inch? This is for my 07 RSTD. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.
  14. What do I need to get to have my rear turn signals to light up when I brake. Any assistance will be appreciated.
  15. I would like to purchase and install a cigarette lighter on my 2007 RSTD. Any idea where I can purchase one and where can I mount it. Any assistance would be most helpful. Thanks Mark
  16. I have a 2005 RSV that purchased used on 07. It is under warranty until next year and I have transferred the warranty but I don't remember getting any information on the roadside assistance I've seen mentioned here. How can I tell if I have the coverage and get the number? Also, if I am not covered what are your recommendations for a Roadside Assistance plan? I have been looking at the plans from AMA and MRF, but would like feedback from those who have used the various plans. Thanks, Jim
  17. Members of this amazing club have been responding to a post I had in Ladies Lair titled: "Nearly ready to ride." I felt it important (to ME!) to post here in Watering Hole, so that I could acknowledge their help and ideas to everyone. THANK YOU IH TRUCK GUY, and BOB MYERS :clap2::clap2: Your assistance and imput on the idea's to mount my crutches on the bike are so appreciated. (and you lifted my spirits too) I think we have finally solved the problem, and it was done thousands of miles away!! Words--can't find 'em to express what ALL of you mean to me now!!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
  18. I know I'm slow, but where is the "Assistance List"? I've spent the last 30 minutes searching for it and I quit. The FAQ doesn't recognize it nor any of the searches I've done. I've seen numerous mentions of it (including Moderators) but no links (or none that work). Help!
  19. Hey Don, Now that this is a "subscription site", will the VR Assistance List be changed to only include those subscribed? And what about the total members tally? It's currently showing well over 7K members. Will it only show the total paid members? Just curious. The membership fee now in place would still be a bargain at 5 times the amount. I've learned so much here & thank you, Don, & all the members for making & keeping this site so friendly. I think one would be hard-pressed to find another forum that has the overall great attitude that this one has. Well done. I've yet to actually meet anyone here, but look forward to that happening.

    AMA roadside assistance?

anyone ever have to use it? i just renewed my AMA membership, and this was an option that was free if i renewed online ( which i was going to do anyhow! ) just curious about it. I tried to search ama roadside assistance, but the forum wouldn't allow the AMa portion. Got a good deal of info about yamaha roadside, though! thanks in advance, guys.
  21. ...for the assistance in recovering my name / password.
  22. I received this information from Douglas Harless and thought it was worth passing on. As you know, most cell phone providers charge extra if you call directory assistance. Google offers a free service that does the same thing. I haven't tried it yet but understand that it works very well. They even connect you. http://www.google.com/goog411/

  24. I just want everyone to know what nice folks "Yamahamer"(Sabrina and Mark) are to a total stranger. Within a couple days after posting about needing some parts for my wife's bike after her wreck, I received a part fm "Yamahamer." If I can ever be of any assistance to anyone on this board, let me know. Again, thanks "Yamahamer" for going out of your way to help a fellow rider!!!! Eddie and Cathy Flinchum Winchester, Ky.
  25. Just a note for those of you who don't watch the Stickies at the top of the page. I have updated the VR Assistance list this evening. Details are in the Sticky at the top of the Watering Hole.
