  1. I stopped at the Yamaha dealer and had the one of the owners pull my front brake lever. "Yep, you got the scrunch. A new seal kit will fix that." So I order the kit and installed it last Sunday. Here's the question - the new kit had an input piston with a hollow end where the lever adjustment screw makes contact. I installed new rubber and used the old piston with the solid convex shaped end. Did these change after 2000 RSV or did the dealer sell me the wrong kit? All the rubber parts and return spring matched. It did get rid of the scrunch. Brian
  2. Mine leaked out over the winter. Thanks to the wonderful members on this site, I was provided the part number for the YSS shock assembly MZ 506-255-TR. Cost $524.00 including shipping to Minnesota. These are adjustable and parts can be replaced. The guy at YSS (EPDM Performance Imports) will ask your weight, if you ride 2 up, and if you tow a trailer. Shock will come set-up. Put the new one on three weeks ago. Have put on about 100 miles, the ride seems better, bike rides a bit higher. Find on this site the photo's and instructions how to install it. Pretty easy, although I suggest using a good quality impact wrench on the bottom bolt. We spent 45 minute trying to get it off used a long pipe on a wrench for torque, a cheap impact, and no go. Borrowed the neighbors quality impact and zipped off in a second. For the upper bolt we needed a knuckle on the socket to straighten the angle. Did it on a bike lift and put a hydraulic jack under the bike. Made it easy to adjust hole alignment and reinstall bolts. Good luck. Brian
  3. I have been researching into which rear shock I should get to replace the one on my bike that started leaking recently. Because I don't want to spend a fortune on a bike I may only have for a couple of more years, I think I've decided to order the YSS. Can someone tell me exactly what the YSS part number I need for a 2000 Royal Star Venture. I do ride two up and do not tow trailers. Thanks for the help. Brian White
  4. Squidley helped diagnose the issue, which was the actuating piston at the spring wasn't seated in quite right. Clutch seems to work better now than it has since I've owned the bike. I looking forward to taking it out for a longer ride now, BUT OH NO! I started to rain and there's snow flakes in the mix.
  5. We'll check orientation and reinstall. Thanks again, Brian White Anyone going to Algona IA rally next 4th?
  6. Mechanic friend and I installed the kit following Tarter Terror's instructions, had the wire ring, two narrow rings, and the half plate left over. No other parts left on the floor. But now a hard clutch lever (solid - no pull) and bike will roll when in gear. HELP? I have read a similar posting with this problem, just want to reaffirm what to do when we take it back apart and put it back together. Thanks in advance for help. Brian White Mankato, MN
  7. I bought 2000 RSV a couple years ago and the riding lamps have seemed orange'ish when looking at them and comparing to the halogen headlamp. Out of curiosity I checked the voltage at the riding lamps and they meter at 9.6v. Not sure if this is a problem or not, and maybe there is an inline resistor? Comments Please. Thanks for the help, Brian White
  8. I'm looking for advise on what top or bottom mounted LED taillights are recommended for good looking fit on 2002 RSV. Thanks everyone for input. Brian
  9. After looking for weeks one popped up for sale today on CL by owner 35 miles away from him. 2002 silver 21K lots 0f :cool10:accessories nice bike paid $7200. He's a happy new owner! Guy he purchased it from is member of this site. Lives in Oakdale MN. My cuz will be joining to be member of venturerider.org. Talked him into it for the wealth of info and good folks on here! Thanks all, Bwhite
  10. I am helping my cousin in Minnetonka MN find a used Royal Star Venture. There are very few available at dealers and only a couple we can find for sale by owner. If you are aware of anything for sale, please let me know. Thank you in advance for your help. Brian
  11. What size are the chrome button head socket screws that hold the trunk brackets to the fender? Was leaving for work today and noticed the trunk was loose and one of the screws is missing.
  12. I have a brother that just purchased a very well taken care of '86 Goldwing. It puffs some blue smoke at cold start-up for a few seconds. He was told to try Bars Leaks engine stop leak with conditioner. He's wondering if it will mess with the clutch plates. With the wealth of knowledge on this site, maybe you'd have some comments. Thanks Ventureriders. Brian in Mankato, MN 2000 RSV
  13. I replaced the 404's on my 2000 RSV with E3's. The Goldwing mechanic I go to advised me that the 404 is to light of tire, doesn't provide sidewall support for that heavy of bike. I really like my E3's especially after going narrower on front. Handling at slower speeds is like night and day. Some on here experienced squirly handling at high speed with the narrower tire on front but I don't notice that.
  14. Has anyone heard if the Full Throttle Saloon tv program on TRUtv is going to have a 3rd season?
  15. I bought two sheepskin covers from this place several years ago. One for the front seat, one for the back. Use them all the time when we ride out of town. http://www.wildthingsfur.com/sheepskin_seat_covers.asp
