  1. Like I told you on the phone, "I am proud of you". You can do anything you wish to do with your Venture by using the experience and wisdom of the people on Venture Riders.
  2. Flip a coin! They are near identical in performance and handling. I don't run them but all posts and factory blogs say this. It is like oil, there will be many on both sides of the issue.
  3. I replaced three of the original JCW LED lights with the one sold by J&P and the new ones are much brighter than the JCW's plus a chrome accent. I had them on for six years and the plastic was failing but the lights were still working.
  4. Very nice. I didn't see the air conditioner!
  5. I had a gen 2 repaired but it is aluminum although it has held the repair for four years.
  6. If you do the Yamaha factory pass lights, it is very simple. I have no input in vendor pass lights.
  7. 1. Some fish a wire under the tank and pull it up. It is not hard to remove the tank (shut off fuel, disconnect fuel line, remove bolts and lift up), it is easier if there is little fuel in it. 2. Put it under the fairing. I secure mine to the bolt on the amplifier. Put the fuse near the battery. 3. If you want, I use Sylvania's bright bulb. 4. Not hard at all (remove windshield and six machine screws on rider side of fairing and pull off). You will need to put the fairing on before the pass lights to close it up.
  8. Look at Kuryakin, Radiantz and Diamond R. I have stuff from all three.
  9. I will donate a clutch cover gasket, just give me the address on a pm. I bought it and didn't need it. Are you in Onslow County or Mitchell County (there are two Richlands, NC)? Let me know and I will come and install the spring and gasket.
  10. I have had for the last thirty+ years a complete set of "Chicago Cutlery" and they are by far the best set I have ever owned. My son bought Henkels three years ago and now owns "Chicago Cutlery". I also own a "Chef's Choice" diamond electric hone, and it will put a shaving edge on any knife.
  11. I have owned a few HD over the years, the first being a Sportster. Then I got a Duo Glide which really leaked all over and I could not get it to stop. But in the early 80s I bought an AMF Sturgis and I was in love. Best bike I ever owned til then. I rode it into the ground and finally sold it for parts. I tried a 2000 Ultra Classic and really loved the ride but could not keep stators in it. After being left broke down in five different cities and only 8800 miles I sold it and bought the RSMV. With 116,000 miles the RSMV will last the rest of my life and other than buying a street machine (read Indian Classic) that is all I need.
  12. What winter storage? I unplug the Battery Tender and go ride like I did the week before. Although this winter had less ride time than many before it.
  13. What the ....? HUH? Heck if I know! I just ride until I fall over!!!
  14. Go to Diamond R and they have the rests that I use. They work great for my wife, but I don't know about a nine year old.
  15. I love the '48 Chevy tail lights. I probably will get around to a trike someday. If I buy the Indian that I want, then I will feel comfortable with converting my RSMV.
  16. Looks like all the other ones I have seen while changing stators. I think you need to look elsewhere.
  17. I am a retired heavy construction superintendent and now I have a remodeling business and do lots of carpentry. I (personally) would not trust 2x4's to lift my bike. There are varying grades of lumber and failure could occur. I did use hockey pucks but now I have the Carbon One and it will do the job efficiently with my Sears jack.
  18. Tighten them up good and snug, you don't need a torque wrench. When they bottom out give them a little tweak and you are good to go. If I was to give a torque setting I would say 70 in./lb. maximum.
  19. Mike, Give me a PM! Really need to converse with you. Jim Parks aka Sylvester
  20. They are the second worse tire for the Venture...we all know which is first, right?

  22. Good job. What is the black ball U bolted to your right side handlebar?
  23. Trade it for a Venture and you'll both be more comfortable. That is what my buddy did.
  24. No but NIPSCO might! Better not write too many things on your application...LOL. I AM SURE YOU WILL DO FINE. Best of luck on that new job.
