  1. A very good friend asked me to ride his brand new Vintage Chief from the dealer to his house. He is recuperating from a leg ingury. He already has three bikes (2005 Triumph Bonneville, 2009 Harley Ultra and a 2006 Venture. This was a treat for me, and the bike is awesome. The color light green and cream with distressed leather seat and saddle bags looked great. The twenty mile trip in the cold could have been better, but I survived and it is a great machine.
  2. I made my New Year resolution to never make another New Year resolution. So far I am doing great.
  3. I am really sick to hear this news. I pray that your recover and leave your state of pain and suffering. As always you are welcome to come to NC and ride the area, we have room for you.
  4. Put the d@#* thing on. You will never regret it. Also put a relay between the circuit, this is very important. I installed mine in 2001 and have never had a problem.
  5. Now that I watched the show , was there ever another one or was this one the end.
  6. Yes, but you can do the same by using two stock springs or one heavy spring.
  7. I know the feeling. I have lost thirty pounds since just before Thanksgiving. The fact that I was sick and spent a week in the hospital just before Christmas has a little to do with it. I believe I will continue the trend and go for another thirty since the doctors found out what was wrong with me (pulmonary embolism) and now have it under control. It feels great to feel great after six months of short breath and chest pains.
  8. God bless you, Kbay.
  9. Like last January, I will pay the dues and donate another amount. This has been a very interesting "first" year for me and I am looking forward to many more.
  10. I have six dogs at the moment, all of which are rescue animals. I love and take care of them and when the get sick and die like the one last winter, I am comforted by the knowledge that they lived out their remaining years in a loving environment and free from abuse. That is why I rescued them. You could never believe the horror some humans can inflict on animals. I would have more if I could afford the food and vet bills.
  11. And do you believe that you are the first to make that mistake? Thank God I never did!
  12. Well said, Rennee. I rode in the sixties with Triumphs and no wind protection...and I loved it. I rode in the seventies with some wind protection...and I loved it. I rode in the eighties with more wind protection and comfortable seats, forward controls, and I loved it. The nineties got much better and...I really loved it. And now at 63+ years the 2000's gave me the full fairing, lower fairings, fork fairing, heated this and that, multiple windshield choices, more horsepower than anyone needs on two wheels, too many lights to count..but I tell you I still love it. Only because this old body could not do what I did in the sixties.

If it wasn't for my dogs, six, I wouldn't have a reason to get up. 5:00 AM take them for their first walk and then feed them. 7:00 AM take them for their dump and hopefully more pee. The rest of the day they love me, up until around 5:00 pm and then they want to chew my leg off. That is when I feed them again...all is right with the world. I would not trade any of them for a new motorcycle. They give me thought, love, attention, quizical looks, and comfort when I feel down. But I only have one motorcycle!!!
  14. I am going to join a 1%er club. I bet they don't talk about crap like this. They do manly things like head bashing, knife stabbing and other acts of mayhem, but I doubt they would have a discussion on TP prompted by a female edict.
  15. I know of no one else but Yamaha for the passing lights. Go to Diamond R for their rear light, it is very popular and bright and is very easy to install.
  16. On Ricks Motorsport page, click on parts search and follow the pages. The stator is $160 (2nd gen), part #21-412H. I have installed two of them and they put out the power. I have a buddy that I am going to install a Buckeye on that he bought last spring. I borrowed it last night and compared it to one of the Ricks I installed on another friends Venture. They are identical. Think what you want but as to me they are the same. That being said, I don't have one on my Venture and have never needed one. With my heated clothing (jacket and gloves), LED tail lights and turn signals, I turn my pass lights off when running heat and I disconnected my carb heaters, I have never had a problem with watts or amps.
  17. Not much to my bike. New tires next spring which I install. I have to install a Buckeye stator in a buddy's Venture (contrary to some thoughts-it is the same as Ricks Motorsports since I have installed both). Install a relay in another buddy's Venture passing lights. Work on my 81 Honda GW-service. Ride when I can!
  18. DO INSTALL A RELAY! YOU WILL SAVE YOURSELF MUCH FUTURE GRIEF.

    Why?

"Why?" is good but "what for?" says it all!
  20. If I were you, installing the lights yourself is fairly simple. That way you can save money and get a proper job. Dealers do it the fastest way possible and that spells future disaster. I have repaired many dealer install electrical items for my friends and crimp fittings are mostly the problem. The details for the relay is in the tech forums and a soldering iron costs little. And by installing the whole thing, you will know how to drop the pass lights to take off the front fairing.
  21. Why is there a disclaimer on the original J C Whitney site that says they won't work on a 2007 Venture? All 2nd gens. are the same.
  22. I split my fairing 7-8 times a year. Very easy to do. Your switch is most likely the problem since I have replaced my original with a marine grade toggle switch. If you do it yourself then you need to install a relay. The installation is in the tech section and again is straight forward.
  23. Late 60's I spent time in Mexico on my Triumph with little problems. No passport needed then but now you do. Fairly friendly people that liked gringo money. Mazzatlan is gorgeous with crystal clear blue water and great fishing. Now I have no desire to go back. I did carry a boot gun then.
  24. All I need to say is God bless and keep you safe! Thank you for your service.
  25. In NC, if you are ticketed for +15 or over, you have to see the judge and convince him not to revoke your license. I always find it interesting to see out of state drivers flying down our highways, I guess they haven't the same tolerances in their state. I really do like paying the least for insurance and not having to worry about losing my license.
