RSV and Gerbing Electric Jackets?
Sylvester replied to Oldslow's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I use Radiantz lighting for tail and all turn signals/running lights with a Kuryakin controller. All of these are easily found with a Google search. I also have the Diamond R 15" slim line auxilliary brake and running light. just put the three w's in front and a com on the end and you will get them. I have had all these lights for years without any problems. You should part with the twelve bucks and join this site. I did a year ago and there is a wealth of information available on the tech articles and the day to day posts. If you have a Venture, every trick to maintenance is here. -
RSV and Gerbing Electric Jackets?
Sylvester replied to Oldslow's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Do you have a thermostat on these jackets liners? This will help the situation. I run Gerbing electric gloves on a switch to turn them off when it gets too hot and I have a Tour Master electric jacket on themostat. When I run these both, I turn off my pass lights and have over 13 volts. All my lights excluding the pass and headlight are LED and that makes a big difference also. -
I feel your pain. Last week I leaned across the front seat to get a glove that fell off the passenger seat and broke a rib on my right side from the center consoles interaction. I will be out for another week or more. I attended a birthday party for a friend last night and most of us were bikers; we commented on the fact that we have not ridden since early December. Normally we ride every month in the winter here.

Thanks, Don. How long will it take to print, xls? Never mind, I'll find out myself! Is there a help guide for all the 1's and 0's? I know they designate service but which ones?

Look at the original post to see the updated pictures of the finished vinyl coloring.

And it only took a few posts to turn nasty! STAR is not for everybody and any organization has sour grapes. I have been a member for nine years and it works for me, thank you.

Passing lamp advise
Sylvester replied to wakers's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The factory pass light assembly is the only available without mucho retro-fit, that I know of. Go with halogen for much more light available. Use a relay no matter where you pull your power from. I have had Adjure halogen lights on my RSMV for five years without a problem. -

This is a great thread!!! I bought 7.5 acres five years ago and built a "factory built" home on the property two years ago. This is a 3300sf home and I went with LP since we are in the rural area. I have never been happier. This R&L home has six inch insulated walls and I purchase around $1000 of fuel per year. I run two furnaces (Carrier) for up and down, the hot water and the stove/range. In addition my electrical runs at max $120 in summer (AC) and $55 in winter. And with the LP, my back up generator insures me winter comfort. I am sold on LP. I have lived in Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska, Texas and now North Carolina and I have never paid less for comfort.

Electropods on your Venture
Sylvester replied to Brian D.'s topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
About like any other electrical device, solder and correct connections required. I have had mine for three years and they still work. Can't say much for their rocker switch though. I am waiting for it to quit. -

Yes, this is a bit of an inconvenience. I was riding Thursday in 65 degree weather, but that change quickly. I have not made many Patriot Gaurd rides this winter due to health issues up through December. I do love living in North Carolina and really love the small community here in Bessemer City. It looks like two more weeks before the bike gets out.

It is starting here in NC now, the ground is white and there is forecasted more freezing rain and snow. Yesterday it was near seventy. Go figure.

You ought to see it when it is messy! In all fairness, yuk, yuk, yuk, I am a contractor and building stuff all the time. Since when I built this shop I wanted twice the size, my wife argued. So now she wants me to build a woodworking shop behind the house for all the woodworking tools. Maybe that will help but probably not since I will acuire more tools and stuff.

I had a company in Roanoke blend the color for me and then it is a matter of labor. First clean the existing real good with their cleaner, let dry 15 min. then you can start applying the color, I used a sponge but you can spray it if you have an air gun. The stuff you buy in cans at auto supply stores is OK but this is a better product and more expensive (based on the internet reports). The big job is to do many light coats and covering black is time consuming. Then there is the issue of cleaning the chrome dots. I use MEK on a Q tip then wiping with a paper towel. If you use too much MEK it will remove what is on the vinyl. The color I chose was from a cardboard box. I sent them the piece of cardboard and a couple days later they called back and got my credit card and the next day I had the material. What I bought was $90.00 +/-. You really only need 8 oz. of color, I got 16 oz. for fear of running out and getting a bad color match the second time around. I put the protectorant on today and it really shines like vinyl now. www.leatherworldtech.com

Freebird, Then tell me how to attach them as a thumbnail. I am technologically challenged! Or you can go to "View Photos By: Sylvester" below the flags above this message!

I always liked the MM edition seats so I colored my own. The rest and rear seat are still in process as well as the Hopnel tank bib. I think it really makes a midnight look great.

I will let you know of my feelings after I install the new set of Dunlop 404's. I have Dyna Beads for this change and I will go ahead (as a matter of science) and install the beads.

Motion Pro Hydraulic Brake Bleeder
Sylvester replied to Chiro's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I love the Mity vac, it works great. The biggest thing is to make sure the threads on the bleeder are sealed, a little teflon tape does the job. -
Mixed with what? I assume water.

I carry the stock tool kit plus one 10mm ratchet box end wrench (for the seat). You can go crazy thinking of all the possibilities of what might fail, but I have 116k miles on mine without any problems. I always say maintenance is the solution to long bike life. I check everything when I do maintenance and therefore have no problems.
