  1. Well said! Although I don't dought that some have run in to some issues, I for one have not. I also know alot of people who have run in to problems with mc tires. I have ridden in the hottest of temps, very cold temps, downpours, twisties, pulling a trailer and have never had any issue with the car tire. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but when it is presented as fact that's a problem. David aka wngrr
  2. A friend and I just completed a trip to Colorado. We were both riding RSVs two up, pulling heavy trailers. Both bikes had been sinked before we left and were perfroming well. We both averaged 30mpg pulling the trailer and 35-36 unhooked. We were always within .1 of a gallon of each other at fill ups. The bikes performed well to above 14,000 ft. but the mpg could be better. David
  3. Another update...I just completed a ride to Colorado pulling a fully loaded trailer with no issues. The Nexen performed great in all conditions. During the trip we road in heavy rains, lots of twisties, to the top of Pikes Peak in the snow and scorching heat. I have no complaints about the performance of the bike or the tires I am running. David
  4. I bought a 1999 Valk Inerstate in 2000 and had no compaints. With the addition of a few items it served me very well on several long trips (all over 4000 miles) with zero problems while I owned it.. The engine is a solid lifter version of the 1500 goldwing motor and is very powerful! If I had to complain about something it would be the seat. I found it to be hard and I never did get used to it. I added a butt buffer pad and was good to go. Over all my years of riding I actually did my longest day in the Saddle on this bike in 2001. Rode from Asheville NC to Southern Ok in one day, 1036 miles pulling a trailer. I added the audiovox CCS-100 electronic cruise, highway pegs, tulsa windshield and a cb/intercom system and was good to go.. I would recommend this bike to anyone considering buying one.. David
  5. I just wanted to post an update after putting some miles on the Nexen. I should throw out that I have also replaced the front with a Bridgeston radial. I have to say for me the change has been great.. It took a little getting used to but now I ride just as I always have. The Nexen did want to follow imperfections in the road at first but I corrected that with air pressure.. I will be putting around 4000 miles on it soon and will report back after the trip.. David

    My new Bike

Had a 2003 and put 65,000 on it before I sold it.... Install All ball steering head bearings( I have a steering head nut tool if you need it) and progressive springs and see the world... Congrats, you will love it.. By the way... I have a full set of maintenance dvds from Fred Harmon if you would like to make some copies... David
  7. The Valkyre is a very nice bike. The RSV is a much more comfortable bike than the Valk but the Valk's performance is awsome. I had a 1999 Red/Black I ended up putting about 30,000 miles on it before letting it go. I added the ccs-100 cruise, highway pegs, tulsa windshield and a butt buffer pad and rode the hell out of it... Rode it from Asheville, NC to Southern Ok in less than 24 hrs... Very solid bike...
  8. Good luck in your hunt! It's good to hear the talk about the Outer Banks. The wife and I are planning a trip there next summer... can't wait.. David
  9. I have about 700 miles on my Nexen now and couldn't be happier. No wobble at any speed so far. I'm getting ready to install a radial on the front an play with that for awhile. The only thing that has affected the bike is the air pressure I'm using in the Nexen and that only affects the feel and nothing else. So far so good.. David
  10. May have missed it but how about one from: Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs A few more.. The Black Crows - She Talks to Angels Hard to Handle Otis Redding - Sitting On, The dock of the Bay
  11. I'm glad everyone is alright. We got lucky in Duncan and only had hail. I had one peice in my yard that was baseball size. Talked to my daughter who lives in Norman and thankfully she was at work at Childrens hospital in OKC when the storms came through. All is well with her and at the hospital but she doesn't know if her house survived. She has been trying to get in touch with friends who live in the neighborhood and has not been able to find out anything. May our prayers be with those that lost loved ones and be thankfull that more were not killed and injured. This was a bad one.. David
  12. I must say the the purchase of my Zumo 550 was one of the better purchases I've made when it comes to electronics. Purchased in 2007 when they were first released, I have had no problems at all over the last 4 years of use. I have looked at replaceing it but since I like to program my routes on my pc and download to the gps it looks like I'm going to have to stick with the Zumo line since none of the other garmin lines support this. I like some of the new features offered now but none of them put it all together in one package with what the 550 already has.
  13. Bidding ended on this item at 561.00. It looks like the price from GPScity was certainly in the ballpark.
  14. Nice price. It will be interesting to see what it closes at..
  15. I'm also a huge Dream Theater fan... In The Presence of Enemies part 1 and 2 WOW I believe Mike Portnoy is one of the best drummers who ever lived. The professer is amazing but Mike is right there. All the band members are amazing musicians. Rush - Too many to mention Three Doors Down: Duck and Run Kryptonite Areosmith - can you pick just one. Blue Oyster Cult: Burnen for you Don't Fear the Reaper CSN&Y - How many do you want How about Molly Hatchet and 38 Special: Flirtin with Disaster Wild Eyed Southern Boys Fantasy Girl Kansas: Dust in the Wind Cary on My Wayword Son Point of No Return Peter Frampton: Do You Feel Like We Do Show Me The Way Shine On Lines on My Face REO Speedwagon: Riging the Storm Out 157 Riverside Avenue Marshal Tucker and Charlie Daniels Band... Great thread..
