  1. Hi All, I have an 06 RSDT. Do any of you RSDT owners somehow lock the windshield and backrest? I am a bit concerned about them walking away. Dave
  2. Need a Right side lower cowling for 2000 RSV MM. Looked on Pinwall Cycle Parts with out any luck. Couple of web sites show they can get the part, but being a 12 year old bike I'm concerned that Yamaha would even have any of these left. Does anyone have any sugestions where I might look, or someone, on the outside chance, have one laying around they don't need?
  3. Ill be spending the night in the Longwood FL area on Oct 30th to 31st. Im not familiar with the area. I know there are some shady areas over there. I need some hotel info on where the better areas are. IM having some mods done to my Mustang at Lamotta Performance on 17 and I want to try to stay in the immediate area but some of the local hotels have pretty sleazy ratings so im concerned with the overall area. Thanks, Jeff
  4. Waz in Ashville coming out of VA. Stop to eat and the dash went blank several time the engine sputtered then all ok..a few mins later did it again?? Drove back to Spartanburg, SC. waz ok Kinda left me a little concerned..got any Id???
  5. I've noticed oil on the tip of my kickstand. Anyone else had this? I just figure it is from some breather tube that comes out there. Anything I should be concerned with?
  6. Seems that Bobby had a hard breathing this morning..Becky called 911 and he was taken to Springville hospital via ambulance....Becky tells me he is resting comfortably.. he seems to have some fluid on his lungs and the Drs. are concerned about his heart. He is being kept overnight for observation...I will post more when I find out more..
  7. Quick question. We have a 99 venture and have talked with friends about a ride in the mountains of Colorado. Friends with fuel injected bikes have concerns about ours not being fuel injected. Surely it's not a big enough issue to be concerned with, but thought I'd ask if anybody had experience with this. Thanks for the input, Creole.
  8. Has anyone changed out their Tail Light for one of the Halogen or Xenarc bulbs? Also, what about changing the turn signals to a brighter bulb that are available. I'm concerned about the heat build up especially in the turn signals, but it's winter in the Northwest and I want all the light possible in the dark and rain. Thanks George:depressed:
  9. This might have already been posted but it's great news as far as I'm concerned. Here's a link to the article. http://www.michelin.com/corporate/EN/news/products/article?articleID=N20110823_cpN_commandeII_E
  10. 83 model, bought the bike w/22k, now 33k. Pulled in the clutch (didn't "feel" right) shifted to first, lunged forward. went to shift to second, still in 1st. Housing is broke, hav TIG access, I'm not concerned, as I can weld it back together. I am concerned with the way the shaft "feels"(might be broken) The 437 page pdf manual doesn't really address the transmission shifting shaft. Thinking about purchasing a Clymer manual. Thought I would check with all the Venture Rider wisdom first. Previous owner installed floor boards and heel/toe shifter.
  11. Annie & Al left here this morning @ about 9am,,,, should have arrived in the Oberlin area at Don's or some hotel by now,,,, I haven't heard from them,,,,, Annie's cell phone was dead when they left and the Tom Tom they were using wasn't the greatest invention. Now they has me a little concerned,,, well they are adults,, but still I'd like to know that they is OK. Any info would be appreciated.
  12. I have the Morgan carbtuner, when I sync the carbs the gauges fluctuate at an idle and smooth out at a higher rpm. I reluctantly threw the restrictor tubes away. Does anyone know of a fix that I can use to restrict the vacuum lines? Or should I be concerned? Tks
  13. I do not own a Royal Venture, and.....knowing nothing really about them from experience, I would say that it would not be my first choice as a tourer. The Gl 1800 would fill that bill for me...................But, that being said, I CANT AFFORD A GOLDWING. An 06 with decent miles cost about what I paid new for mine. (16,200) I had an 06 and sold it because of a home improvement loan, and bought a much less expensive Kawasaki VN2000 Classic LT, which I LOVE, but my wife....does not. I like her to ride with me, and she is still spoiled to the Wing. I have found an 08 with less than 10k miles. It is immaculate, but has nothing other than what came stock, for an even $10,000. This is a super deal IMO, but its 500 miles from me. So if I go, I have to buy it based on what I see, or have made a 1000 mile trip for nothing. A brief test ride will not tell me all I need to know, so I am asking for opinions, which granted, will have to be biased, I understand. I am concerned about power. I appears to me that only 1300 cc's for an almost 900 pound bike is reaching a bit. I am concerned about PASSENGER comfort. My Vulcan is very very comfy for me, but not particularly for my wife. I can only assume driver comfort would be great. Does anyone here have experience with both. Thanks
  14. I am starting to get a bit concerned about the changes happening in here Avatars are going all weird with the likes of kregadoodle, and cupcake Some folks' posting in pink What is happening to the tone of this place???
  15. Guys/gals ... I'm contemplating buying a Valk. The one I'm looking at is Red/Black, has 23,000 miles (yes miles as it was imported to Canada from the US 3 yrs ago), has new rubber, new battery, mustang seat with driver backrest, passenger floorboards, a few chrome goodies. Looks very clean from the pics and the price is $10,500 Canadian. Any feedback would be appreciated. What mechanical things should I be concerned about with these bikes? (could I join the Wing section then? ) EDIT: Guess I'd better learn to spell Valkyrie properly eh? LOL
  16. Hi there Peoples: I am wondering if anyone has installed the J&P Cycles riser and tach combo one is part # ZZ50825 I do believe its a 4" rise with a 1 1/2" pull back and the tach bolts on the top of handle bar keeper. I'm concerned that there may not be enough room for the tach with the fairing and all. Has anyone done this type of tach as an up grade.. Any help would be greatly appriciated..
  17. Windscreen is too high...Need a replacement I don't have to look through. Was also concerned about buffeting for my passenger. Any thoughts?
  18. very light vibration at 70 and up is this something to be concerned about?
  19. I put in AMSOIL 10w40 instead of the recommended 20w40. Noticed the other day when I saw the container under my work bench. Strange I hadn't noticed before. Got a few 1000km's on it. Should I be concerned?
  20. 08 Venture, has about 650 miles. Can't get it to the shop until next Wednesday. Do I need to continue being aware of the "break in" period until the starter oil is out or should I not really be too concerned about it and ride like I normally would. Also, the radio buttons are becoming non-responsive, what do I do about that?
  21. I have to remove the rear wheel on my RSV and have the tire changed. I have the jack stand adaptor with legs but from pics I have seen I think I have to go quite high up in order to get the rear wheel off. I am some what concerned about going this high up, any advise? Harry
  22. I found a battery tender in Wally World the other day. $19, figure it can't be all bad. After reading the instructions (probably my first mistake) I am concerned about hooking this thing up. I have already added the connectors to my terminals and have the connector snaked out to a convenient but hidden spot on my 07 RSV, but am concerned. Do I need to remove the seat and monitor it or can I leave the seat on the bike and just plug in the connector? I was hoping that is all I have to do. Because in south Louisiana it snow one day (?) :rudolf:and 70+ degrees the next. Also, is the battery a 12 Volt or 6 Volt. Did I mention, I know NOTHING - lol Thanks for the advice in advance.
  23. I took it for about a 300 mile trip over the weekend. The trip out was 2-lane 65mph with short stops/traffic lights in small towns every 10-15 miles, return trip 100% interstate, set the cruise doing about 82mph indicated. Very comfortable and enjoyable ride. Got 34mpg for the trip, seems kind of low to me compared to my old ride (an ST1100 that I could get 45+mpg with 2 up, fully loaded side bags), but nowhere near as comfortabel of a ride. I had posted an earlier thread about vibration at roll-on and while the engine is smoother at higher revs, it still feel it feels mostly like there is a "miss" or "roughness" there, just at a higher RPM so not quite as noticeable. Seems to have plenty of power so am doubting that it is actually missing, but even at 80MPH indicated, you still get some vibration when pulling power or load in OD. The PO said he had synced the carbs but I probably will want to double check that. I probably should have driven another one or two before I finalized the deal on this one just to make sure I understood the characteristics of the motor and to make sure it is acting like it should. I poured some seafoam in it this evening and when it stops raining in a couple of days I'll ride her a bit. I will also start looking around on it a bit, check the spark plugs (which the PO said he changed as well), etc. Before I get in too deep on looking at it I suppose I should get someone's thought as to whether or not there really is a problem or just the nature of the beast and I shouldn't be concerned. If anyone is in the Kansas City area has one of these engines and would have a few minutes this coming weekend to take a look/listen and see if it is the just the normal operating characteristics and I need not be concerned, I would sure appreciate it. Assuming the weather is reasonable, I could probably meet someone just about anywhere in the Kansas City-Lawrence area. Thanks guys.
  24. looking to take a trip in October to Dowagiac MI what is the weather like around that time should i be concerned about snow or ice around that time?
  25. I have a RSTD that has just over 6000 miles on it. The muffler tips were turned town. I turned them up recently. I noticed that when I first start my bike, I see moisture in accumulating on the inside if the muffler tip until the bike warms up. This only is happens on the right muffler. Is this normal condensation or should I be concerned. The bike seems to function normally. I checked the coolant and it seems to be where it should (suspecting an internal problem). Any thoughts would be appreciated.
