  1. I will pray for your son and for the fallen officers family. I spent twenty two years as a detective in Baltimore City and lost a very good and close friend to a shooting while we were working narcotics ,it's something that never leaves you. The tribute was first class and reveals what a great friend your son was to this officer.
  2. Was a cop for 22 years and love my coffee, not so much on doughnuts. Now at 51 with a clogged artery in my leg I am down to drinking unleaded. I'm surprised how fast I got use to no caffeine. I still love to stop at sheetz when I,m riding my scooter for a coffee break.
  3. I'll be there and would enjoy meeting all of you. Gettysburg is a great place and like everyone else just need a little notice. It's that wonderful time of the year, SPRING!
  4. I'll switch with you. I have 4 and a half feet in my front yard. Took my son and I 3 hours to dig the cars out. At least the bike show is tommorrow so I can dream of spring. Get some beer, sit in the recliner and just be lazy for a day.
  5. Going to the bike show here in Maryland this weekend and will be going with the halogen light. They probably won't be at the show, but I will buy this week. Looking forward to being able to see. Now, did any of you switch out the light bulb to see better at night. I just bought my RSTD last summer and the times I rode at night I really had a hard time seeing. I know being 52 has something to do with it, but I felt the light was really dim. Thanks again for everything. Walt:thumbsup2:
  6. With all the intelligent people on here who posted insatallation instructions, I thank you. I feel confident to take this project on. The advise I need is Halogen or sealed beam. What is the major difference. Also, I plan on running a fuse box. If I do this, should I still use a relay. I received a gift card for christmas and plan on getting them this week, but I want to check the prices at the bike show first. Thanks to everyone who contributes and saves me money at the stealership.
  7. I'm posting a link for the ride across Maryland which is a ride from Howard County Maryland to Ocean City. This is scheduled for June 5th through the 7th and is a great 150 mile ride with lots of festivities once you get there. This ride is scheduled every year and is a fundraiser for Breast Cancer. If anyone wants to ride, let me know and maybe we can register as a group, make a showing and ride together. It would be great to meet a lot of you on here. Hotels also offer a good price and there are plenty of parties to go around. Anyway, here's the link. http://www.rideacrossmaryland.org:rain2:/
  8. I am a Marylander and live in the western part of the state where we are suppose to get 30-36 inches of snow. What's worse. I had to start my RSTD up and scoot it up in the garage to make room for the snow blower from the shed. Starting it up made me long for a nice spring day.
  9. Would love to meet up with the people on here. I ride to Gettysburg about two or three times a month. Just give a date and I will be there. Four more months til spring. I am not putting my bike up for the winter. I figure that there is usually a couple days a month when it gets above freezing and hits around 45 degrees. That's when I'll go twelve miles to the barbeque place for lunch and back. By the way, they have outdoor concerts at the winery in Gettsburg almost every Saturday. Can relax with a glass of wine, listen to music and usually watch some kind of civil war re-enactment. Look forward to meeting everyone. Have a Safe and Merry Christmas:rudolf:
  10. Thanks, now I know I'm not crazy. You just saved me money on a therapist. This is the first time I rode in the 60's. I'll see what happens on Monday. Suppose to be in the 70"s. This bike is so fantastic. Almost like that first kiss in high school. I look forward to it ever since the first time I was on it. Will be going for another 150 mile run next Saturday to Lancaster Pa to bond with the Amish and the horses. Maybe it will be back then.
  11. It's strange. Nothing has been done to the bike at all, honest. I even took my 20 year old daughter out for a 10 mile run to walmart and she asked what happen to the chirp.
  12. My chirp is gone. Bought my RSTD in June with 7200 miles. Had the chirp and was very noticeable which was ok with me because I love this bike. I figured I would just put my earbuds in and sing along wih the music, drowning out the chirp, which worked and made me realized how good I could sing at 60 miles and hour. I left my ipod at work and today was a beautifuly 66 degree day in maryland and went for a 150 mile run. As soon as I started winding through the gears I realized something was missing, then after about 20 miles, I realized it was the chirp. I have been reading about having the clutch basket replaced this winter and different oils to use to elimanate the loud chirp, but now it's gone. I haven't done anything to this bike and I tried everything going through the gears at various speeds, but can't find it. Has this ever happen to anyone? I sort of miss it, but really enjoyed not having it on the 150 mile ride. Also, I use the same gas at the same station and am really puzzled.
  13. Thanks, that was the next question I was going to bother everyone with. I know I just turned 51 but I don't remember it being so hard to see at night. I was just reading on what kind of light bulb to replace the stock one with. Was looking at a PIAA at 44.00 until you gave me this advise. Thanks
  14. Thanks Dave and everyone else. Now I understand. I am going to run a fuse box and relay so my lights are ignition controlled. I have read horror stories about dealer installation and am scared to death. I will attempt this myself. Will have plenty of time with the winter months coming. Thanks again and Hope I can return the favor. When I start the projects I will photograph for step by step instructions.
  15. Thanks John, where did you buy your set and is one set better than another?
