  1. I love stuff that costs...FREE, but I don't have a need so I will not ask for anything. I am very impressed that you would give these away and you deserve something special in life.
  2. I retired in September of 2008 and stayed that way until Aprill of 2009. Then I realized I needed more activity so I started my own construction business. I only take a few jobs a year so I don't burn out like I did after almost fifty years of building bridges, tunnels, dams and other heavy civil projects.
  3. A friend of mine bought one to compliment his Ultra Classic, but has since sold it. His claim is that it is a great "go fast" machine but doesn't manuever well. He couldn't take it on mountain trips because it handled so poorly.
  4. I have the JC Whitney trunk rack and it works well with my HD trunk luggage. I don't know if it will fit my rack but I am in for one. Let me know when to pass on the money.
  5. I have Gerbing heated gloves and Tour Master heated jacket liner, and I still can't ride in less than 40 degrees. I am almost 64 so that could have something to do with it. God, it is tough getting old, but the rest of you will find out sooner than you think.
  6. Riverduke is close enough for me to ride there to get service done...and I have seven more friends with Ventures and RSTDs. I think we will ride up there to get this all done. Hey Riverduke, how much room you got??? :whistling:
  7. It was a while ago that someone tried to "smash and grab" from my SUV. When they broke the window it woke my Chow Chow mix dog up in the back. All they got was to donate their blood. Jake was really happy someone let them chew on their arm.
  8. I have been going to Rolling Thunder for many years now. It is my annual must go bike trip. You have much to see for your first trip there. If you haven't made reservations yet, I stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Springfield, VA. You will really enjoy the event and the somber mood will get to you, some what. You will never see this many motorcycles in one place again in your life. Saturday this year, my friend and I are riding east on highway 50 to see the eastern shore of Maryland. If you have a full touring bike, I could get you (if you are solo) into the VIP group that carry a Gold Star mother or Blue Star mother at the beginning of the ride. Just send me a PM.
  9. I hooked up my aerator to the tractor this evening and tomorrow I will poke holes all over 3 acres. Then I will hook up the spreader and put down 500 lbs. of lime and fertilizer. Then I will get the ATV out and fill the spray tanks to apply lots of Weed B Gone. Monday I will begin plugging the ground for zoysia plugs and insert the same in the front yard. Tuesday's rain will help. Although not plowing snow, it is work just the same.
  10. Try I-30 from Little Rock through Dallas and on west to Amarillo. That has always been a greatly maintained stretch of highway in the past. If you can stand the extra miles.
  11. I for one never doubted your ride to Fla., but I did have some reservation as to your sanity. I can't do much of the cold and snow anymore (age thing), but in the past I have ridden in both. Good luck and fair weather to you and keep the reports coming in. I have the heat on in my garage so I can do some work and there is another week of this weather here in Gaston Co., NC.
  12. Sylvester

    Ponch Thanks

You know I have been happy with what you sent (phone calls and all). You have a great product and I have advertized for you.
  13. Now I know who Kisan technologies are (after a Google search). I never heard of them before but they have great stuff.
  14. The new models come out in the fall before the model year!
  15. And to think that when I was a LEO in the late 60's, we would charge them with a felony!
  16. DITTO. I have had BUBs on my 02 RSMV since 2001 and love them.
  17. I vote PCW and replace it all. If you can, bead blast the plates between the discs.
  18. This is the time for a 3/8 drive inch/pound torque wrench. I believe around 70 in./lb. is about right. I tried to use a 1/2 in drive ft./lb. wrench on my clutch and realized the problem before damage was done.
  19. I can understand where you are coming from, but the possibilities are greater by changing a Road Star than a Venture. You can easily sell the Venture and buy a Road Star with some money left for your customizing.
  20. Good for you using the 3M. Looks great.
  21. Mine is an 02 Midnight and I believe it was the first year for the black engine. The basic Venture in 02 was a silver engine...if I can remember right.
  22. You can get the dye/paint matched at most automotive paint stores. I got mine from Leather World in Roanoke, VA and used a sponge to apply. If you do a complete bib, then it would be better to spray. You can also get the material in stock colors at Auto Zone and Advance Auto suppy. Keep in mind that what I colored was vinyl but the same material works for leather.
  23. Or you can get a black one and dye it.
  24. No matter what comes up, I will ride tomorrow. Not been on Sylvester since last November. Temps tomorrow in mid forties and good enough for me and my buddy since there is no snow or ice. Not a big ride but something to take the edge off. I have sat in the garage with the heat on looking at Sylvester just thinking about a ride way to long. The weather on Sunday should be in the 60's but I can't wait.
