  1. Let's see: Bob to Carl Carl to Andrea Andrea lives in Ottawa May take some time, but you never know.
  2. You should maybe start a new thread on your issue, so it don't get lost in the shuffle. Then you will get more pointed help.
  3. Looks like an '85 with a shorty windshield, and a rider that doesn't like the cold in his face.
  4. Train yourself well on that machine,,,you'll love it,,,,so much so that soon you'll want more,, more chrome,,more comfort, more power,, more speed,, more handling capabilities,, more mileage,,,come to think of it,, I think Yammer's right. It's looking good so far, keep the rubber down, and the skid lid high, and you'll enjoy it for many years.
  5. Can't think of anything normal to say at this point,,,,,'course that would be normal.
  6. Carry on Mcduff,, I like what you are doing,,, and will probably need in the future.
  7. Not a big issue,, 5 minute job.
  8. Always glad to help,, but when it comes to older speedos I thinking there's very little that can be done. Sorry to deflate your bubble,,,but that's life and you might as well get used to it.
  9. Keep your desiccant dry, and you should not have any more problems. Dry it every two years.
  10. Take out the left front signal light and you'll find 2 inline fuses that supply the radio etc. Power goes from there to the radio\tape player, and then across to the CB. One fuse is for constant power, the other is for switched power.
  11. Sooooooooooooo then: Who is the girl wearing nothing but a smile and a towel in the picture on the bill,,,,,,,?
  12. Don't you have to shower first??????
  13. When you take off the vaccum line, spray some carb cleaner, MotoMaster is the best I've found, into the vaccum port. Wait 15 or 20 minutes and do it again. If it won't take a spray it is plugged, can happen over the winter. Use a thin brass wire to start a small hole though which you can force some cleaner, wait and then try it again. A little air pressure sometimes also helps in the process.
  14. Your local bearing dealer will probably carry them, you just have to get the right numbers.
  15. At least they chose a good country to buy from.. Hope you get it straightened out soon,,,we Dutch don't like that sort of publicity, and I don't think you like forking out any money to cover somebody else's expenses.
  16. Well who really cares,,,, if you ride a first gen!!!!!!!!!
  17. Ya I know,,, my grandson is already eyeing mine.
  18. From experience and watching others: First off, you're right about the money part, no issue there, but it could change as the financial world shows today. Second and more important is the'life' part. Option 1: put up a shell and finish it with the help of your son and others maybe, learn to teach someone how to work, run hydro, do plumbing, hammer nails, paint, stain, and be patient while the work delve lopes. Learn to plan things out and see the results. Option 2: Build it complete now and have time for play together,,,, if he doesn't get totally involved computer games (which one doesn't), gets too busy with friends, (which will be paramount) decided on a whim that baseball is not his thing (peers have input here). If you spend it now, you can't change your mind later,,, what's spent is gone. If you spend a little now and save to spend more later, it's worth a lot more when you get it done, because you've had to work and wait for it,,, and you can change your plans as you go. Did you ask for input??? or merely just pose a question,,, anyway you got input. JMHO Carl
  19. Now don't forget to polish those lines on a weekly basis.....lol
  20. The last I heard, and I'll not wager my life on it,, because it's only hearsay,, if it hasn't been done before, that doesn't mean that it can't be done today,,,, now tomorrow may be a different story,,, then it may be impossible,,, but then I've also heard that to do the impossible, it only takes a little more time and a little more money. Soo in answer to your question: if you have the cash and the time, tomorrow it may be posssible.
  21. Will send a prayer for him and you as well. Carl
  22. Ain't wore out the first one yet,, and you know I'm Dutch,,,,,,,,,,
  23. I thought when I read the title you had come to loose your senses and were going to say buy a second gen. You missed a word there Redneck, just being friendly and inserting it for you.
  24. Looking real good, hope you enjoy it lots. Don't you trust that second gen, that you need to take along a spare ride????????????? It really isn't a Harley you know,,, it is built by Yamaha, and so can be trusted, maybe not as good as a 1st gen,,, but then not everybody can have one of those in their barn.
  25. I hear that the older you get the less a speedo works,,, but the odometer still clicks on,, maybe you are in need of glasses. Maybe you could ASK ECK, he has all the answers. Try pushing the reset button on the tripometer, could be that it's not centered properly and got things tied up. It does happen.
