  1. From what I understand, there is a rotation direction marked on the tire, it may have to do with tread patterns but more important it has to do with how the belts in the tire a laid together, so if you put them on backwards you run the risk of having them come apart at the seam. This info is from the Avon sales rep, I don't build tires so I can only go by what he said. For me, the tire goes on one way only, I've got enough problems to worry about without adding any extra load.

Doesn't that Allis have a PTO on the back so'as you can hook a blower up to it?????
  3. I hate riding when I have no control. Nice work, hope it lasts out and does what you expect.
  4. For the cost, and the pain if they end up leaking, get new ones. http://www.flatoutmotorcycles.com/
  5. I use http://www.flatoutmotorcycles.com/ when I need parts. Maybe others around, but I like these guys Carl
  6. You need to remove the trunk and the rack, under that is the plastic cover for the CLASS system. Check the hose connections for leaks, sometime they loosen and you won't notice until you get to it. While you are there, it's a good time to dry out your air dryer. It's a canister laying beside the class system, take it out and carefully remove all the contents onto a plate, watch it, because it's all small gravel like stuff that is light and rolls out of sight in no time flat, it's called selica gel. Put in the micro wave for about 2 minutes or until the color is a nice deep blue. It is now regenerated and good for a few more years.
  7. Put mine in the right front faring. Couldn't be bothered to fix a bracket for it, just drilled two holes in the airvane piece and then used cable ties to hold it in place. Wired the relay into the circuit using the original wires for the primary feed, and running a new 14ga wire to the accessory post for the secondary circuit and then to ground. Worked great for about 3 blasts, and then it quit. Took everything out once more and found no problems, everything seemed to work, but no noise at all. Then I checked where the accessory post got it's feed from and discovered that it was fed with a 10 amp fuse, replaced the fuse with the recommended 20 amp, and now I'm working on my seat. I also got a piece of foam to cover the hole going to the lower faring, to cut down on air flow into the upper faring area and so reduce moisture intake as well as bug intake.
  8. We were all of a mind to tell you all that, but we didn't want to scare you off from doing it. Now that you have it done, thanks for telling us, and we're happy you found it so much enjoyable and had a great time yesterday. Too bad your body feels the way it does, but that just gets you more in the mind to go for a ride. I maybe will visit Ottawa again this year, daughter lives in Napean, and brother lives in Chesterville, so they may have to put up with us for a weekend.
  9. Check out CTC, they have lots of that type of stuff and something may work for you. For myself, I wouldn't bother, just wire it direct as usual, there's not that much more draw, only when you brake.
  10. Cool stuff. Now you can take this a little further, put in a hydraulic pump, some lines and a hydraulic motor and you got yourself a two wheel drive.
  11. For me,,,,,,,,I just did the measuring, took the now non-needed shims to the dealer, told him which ones I needed, and gave him the the ones I didn't. Cost me a whole bag of Pepperettes.
  12. If you have a CB, having the squelch turned too low will also give a muting problem. Glad you found the issue and brought it up at the start of the season, this way maybe, just maybe, I won't have to learn that one again this year, that would be 3 years in a row, and maybe more than once a season.
  13. Time???????????? Place??????????
  14. Question,,,,,can she sneak across the border,,,,,,,does she cook, clean and do laundry.
  15. The theory behind the sync, is to get the vacuum all the same for each carb at idle, that way you know that all butterflies are in close position to each other,,, you'll never be dead on at all times, but close enough to spit at. When you open the butterflies (throttle) the opening becomes larger, much larger, and the slight difference from one to the other will have very little effect on the overall performance. Hence the sync is set at idle where the difference is most noticeable. Hope this makes sense so far. If your carbs are synced at idle and you have a vibration at 3- 4000 rpm. my suggestion is that you have other issues, such as diaphragms, dirty or partly dirty carb, plug issues, wire problems, or at worst ring problems.
  16. Oh ya,,, we have room for one more scoot, but only for a couple of hours or so.
  17. You can get at them from under the front faring, but you'll have to miss supper for a week or two before you even attempt it. As mentioned, another way is to remove the battery box for easier access, but it's still a little tight,,, so what you might be able better advised is to be a real nice guy for a while and then invite some skinny little guy over that has small hands and knows what he is doing (that leaves me out),,, but you might have to entice him with a promise of food. If you go from under the front faring, you need to reach up and undo the front coil wire, then undo and install the rear one before replacing the front one. Also, make sure you follow the placement of the wire going back, and put the new one in exactly where the old one came out. Don't be over zealous and try to do a better job than what was done originally, there is a reason why they run where they do, and why they are tied where they are,,,, and the reason will manifest itself as soon as you install some headgear with earphones and then try to listen to static.
  18. When I looked at the manual, it indicates a 2\7 o'clock position, not a 5\11 o'clock postion. The valve is basically a plug in a tube, with a rubber o-ring to seal it off. The screw from the side holds it all in, as the screw pushes in a spring, that pushes in a ball bearing that rides in a groove to keep it all together. You may be missing the spring or the ball or both, but as long as the plug doesn't come out and doesn't leak, you're good to go,, for now at least. For the right running position, the word open should read upsidedown, (more or less) and run from the 2 o'clock position to the 7 o'clock position. JMO Carl
  19. Looks like Lew has been in the brew.
  20. Looks like Goldie is gonna sparkle!!!!!!!
  21. Vaccum leak or maybe a blockage it the intake manifold,, or a kink in the vaccum line.
  22. The way I understand it, advice is mostly free, work done on your scoot will cost you the next time you go to fix that part,,,,,,, parking could be a premium, depends on if you take up a 1st gen spot,,,,,,,if you need to swim then you take your chances, you may lose some important things but you may also pickup some unwanted issues,,,,,,,,,,if you get thirsty or hungry, there's no worry, the pond is usually full and there's critters in there that can be BBQ'd, just don't know how they taste,,,,,if you want to sleep, be prepared to share your space with others, or give it all up to the unknowns,,,,,,,,if you want to talk to someone, best be listening real close, some don't speak real Canadian there. On the whole it's a lot of fun, you meet good folks, learn something important and a lot of unimportant stuff, Don feeds us drinks, lunch and then for supper we have find our own fodder. As mentioned there always is a coffee can, and it's not for leftover screws and bolts, and you'll be well mannered if you help us fill it. Hopefully there's enough to pay your way, not only for the day, but also some leftover to keep this web site going. All that isn't Don's idea, he just wanted us to get together and have a good time,, but I think he was told more than once and so succumbed to putting out the can.
  23. Tip for proper chain hook-up: Make sure the chains are heavy enough, and that the latches are of the same strength, dog lease clip on's are not good enough. Cross the chains and keep them as short as possible, that means that when you make a sharp turn you stretch the chain almost to it's limit, that way if the hitch comes undone, the tongue can fall into the crossed chains and you have the best control, (if it's possible) that is possible. 24. Three things that can happen: 1) The bike has been sitting for some time and the rotor gets a little rusty, but not under the brake pad, maybe some salt on the rear rotor to help this along. When you apply the brakes they will pulsate, but mostly it clears up with some riding but not always. 2) The brake pads are riding too tight on the rotor, either from your foot on the pedal, even resting it there can do it, or from improper return of the fluid after you let off the brake pedal. This would cause excessive heat build up and cause the rotor to warp. 3) The same as #2 but instead you get a hot spot on the rotor giving you the same problem. If it's your foot, or rust then I agree with the dealer, if it's not, something needs to done about the brake system, and that would be their problem.
  25. Get 'er going and don't stop and you'll be just fine. The only time 'top heavy' means anything is when you are stopped,,, at that point keep the front wheel pointing straight ahead and then get rolling before you turn,,, also watch where you're gonna put a foot down,, that it's not in a low spot,,,enjoy your ride.
