  1. My boys (ages 20 and 17) just took the Motorcycle Safety Course this weekend. So now that they passed, it will be time to look for bikes. My oldest wants my RSTD thats been sitting in the garage. I think he would be able to handle it, hes a big kid (6' 3" and 190 pounds) and really level headed. But still it would make me nervous. My other son isnt as big, only about 5' 9" and 130 pounds. So I am going to have to find something to fit him. Maybe in the 500 to 650 range. Let the fun begin in the hunt for the right bike! I'm really looking forward to some rides with my boys!!!!
  2. Would you please ask Greta to grab a bucket of water and throw it on that volcano and put it out...Taters is getting a little nervous about comming over ! :fnd_(16):ps ... All kidding aside..Is Greta and the family ok?
  3. I can't imagine why I am so nervous. Couldn't be that I am getting married tomorrow!:bighug:My new bride and I will be going to PC, FL to Thunder on the Beach. If you see a guy on an 07 RSV with a little bitty redhead on a trike, say hello.
  4. hi,venture gang.a couple i was going to go for a ride with my wife,i was airing up my front forks. the neighbor kids were playing around the garage,i hade just put the progressive pump on the valve and the wife called me in the house to move something.i came back outside and the neighbors kid was pumping the air pump.he thought it was a tire air pump.i was nervous the bike was sitting up pretty high,i thought it was ok.we rode awhile and came home.i woke up the next day fork oil was running down both seals.i think he blew both of them out.damn,damn,damn. whats next
  5. Got to be at Hospital at 6:30am, Daughter at her friends home until I get out. Haven't been able to sleep last couple of nights and this fiberglass brace they made doesn't fit, it's to small. I do not know what they are going to do about it, I cannot get on my feet without it after the surgery. I seem to be a lot more nervous this time, it just don't feel right. At least with that morphine drip I'll get more sleep then I've had in a couple of years. lol. I'll check in in a week or so......Bye.
  6. I have an 84 VR and am not happy with the hot starting issue. Changed the cables and using an Odyssey battery. It has never NOT started but sometimes makes me nervous. Can someone tell me what years of the V-Max would fit? Wayne
  7. Over the last few weeks I have been teaching my wife to ride a bike again. She road one of my bikes about 30 yrs ago. She only road a couple of times, so she was a little nervous. She did her M1 beginners a month ago and we have been using my son’s Honda 600 Shadow to do a 100 stop and starts with me on the back. I told her once she is comfortable stopping and starting with the two of us, it will be a peace of cake alone. This afternoon she said she was ready, so we fired up both bikes and headed out to practice on the back roads solo. She did great. She was really nervous but we took our time and she road for about an hour. She does the official training course next weekend at the collage and will get her M2 level when she completes it. Now the best part of this is :stickpoke:teasing my son. He’s a basket case , I told him to take some pics of it while it was in one peace. He has no sense of humour and I don’t cut him any slack. Back to the main topic, she handled the bike very well but does find it heavy. She is not a big lady and I think it is smaller the than my old Honda 500 custom. Is the bike to big to learn on? My son had no problem but he is stronger and has about 60 lbs on her. What size of bike did the ladies in this club/form learn on? Do you think I should find something smaller or should we just take our time with this one? I think  she is just nervous about dropping it because everything is overwhelming at the start. She has to concentrate on everything until it becomes more natural. After she rides more she won’t find herself having to try and think of everything that has to be done while driving.
  8. I'm heading out tomorrow A.M. to pick up my "New to Me" 2005 Venture. I'll be going to Youngstown to see Randy (Crash) and picking her up. I've never ridden a Venture but I have ridden a Tour Deluxe. Is there a lot of difference in handling? I know that the Venture is a bit top heavy and that concerns me a little. I've been riding for over 30 years and I've learned that if your not a little nervous on a new bike there's something wrong. I was just wondering if there was any advice that you guys would give to a "Venture NewB"?
  9. Just came home from seeing the movie 'No Country for Old Men', and I was just wondering..... are guns that 'popular' in Texas? I've heard that Texans like their guns, but I think I might be a tad nervous riding through rural Texas after seeing that movie. Anyone else seen it?
