I think he's got the new kind where you don't have to lift your leg to get on. That's ok Charlie, looked at that myself the other day, and said: Self, maybe you'll like that better in the future,,,,but nah ,,, not yet.

Question: what caused the wires to be pulled from their perfered location on the ignition switch, and is something now shorting out there? Did the dealer put the wires back to where they should be, or did they get reversed?

By the time it gets to that point, I'll be long gone. If ya'll want to see that thing work, it wouldn't bother me a bit, but then I won't be there to worry over it either. Now if Marca should go before me, I would enjoy seeing that thing used, just for the cuteness of it, but I'm sure she won't bother to say thank you after wards. ok, enough of my thoughts

can't promise 11:30 tomorrow, but I'll look for some attention right now, and then again maybe, if I remember at 11:30 tomorrow.

Really, if we all think about it some, and as I read the posts, we all wish him the best, it's his actions that we think are totally stupid.

Went out for 2 hours today, clocked 100 km and enjoyed it greatly. Warmer temps are in the making,,,just got to get rid of a little left over snow first.

Hey Evan, welcome. See you have some issues, somehow I missed all this thread. Where have you got your scoot now? in the Woodstock area? not too far from Brantford I'd say, would like to help you out, sounds like fun and a good time to meet an oldtimer and learn something from days gone by. Let me know if I can be of help. Carl

LOWER tree info needed
Marcarl replied to jasonm.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I wouldn't be using that race though, it's off another bearing. The only way I would use that race is if it came complete with the bearing installed in the original unit. Not that it would present a huge problem, but if it did give even a slight issue, it wouldn't be worth the pain of having to change it out. Now that I have my $0.02 worth in there, I'm broke. -
Maybe just to set things straight,,,, we call it a trunk, Harley calls it a box,,, ever wonder why????

Got to say though, the article was nicely written, good pictures and lots of explaining, made it almost seem right somehow. Now about the right angle issue, I picked that up even before Squeeze spoke,,,now is that smart or what,,, maybe someday I can be a mechanic just like him, just for now I'll remain a butcher,,,,,,uuuhhh MEAT PROCESSOR

Around here there is an 84 and an 85, both are non-magnetic so I guess that means aluminum. -
We're with you bro, keep up the spirit, and we'll do the praying.

Headlight mod & New idea for a horn button.. what’d ya think?
Marcarl replied to dragerman's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
Nice job on the horn buttons and the lights,,, if I had a 2nd gen I would probably want to do something similar,,,,, and I noticed that so for the argument has stayed within the 2nd gen corridor and has not approached the 1st gen arena. There's good reason for that of course,,,,,,,,no need to dicuss this any further and make someone feel bad,,,,, -
Question about brakes
Marcarl replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Now if you want to make a super improvment to your braking,, add stainless steel braided lines to your system. It's day's work, but it makes a super difference. I think Russel makes up the set to fit your scoot. -
Agreed!!! if you want, just move 2 plugs around and see if the miss follows the plug. If it does, you've found the culprit. If it stays in the same cylinder, it the carb. Had 2 carbs die on me last year, cleaned them with CTC carb cleaner and air, and now all is well. If you find it's the carbs, let me know and I'll tell you how I cleaned them.

Electrical Gremlin
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Ok so here's how it's wired. I didn't include the colors of the wires. Except for the switch wires, witch are the original horn wires, it's all 14 ga with crimmped terminals. -

Electrical Gremlin
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
All is well that ends well and so far it's welllllllllll,,,,,,,, when will this Happen again,,or will it. Sorry, no good at that drawing of pictures thing, but I'll lay it out so you can draw your own picture. This thing has had me wondering for 3 days now, and it has not frustrated me yet, but I can't seem to come up with a logical answer and I thought there might be some else that would join me in the pool. There is only 1 (one) horn, the Bad Boy, bought in another other country, it has positive and negative posts. There is 1 (one) horn button, the original, with the original wires attached and they go to the primary side of the just newly installed relay that came with the horn. All connections are of the insulated type. The horn is connected to the secondary side of the relay, the live wire #14 coming straight from the accessory terminal to the relay with no detours. The other side of the horn goes to ground on the frame. All was OK until I push the starter button, then the fun began. Not with the ignition,,, no it was the starter button. -
Got a funny one. Installed a brand new set of horns, Bad Boys to exact, put them in the faring, right side, right behind the grill and tied them in with cable ties, So far so Good. Wired them according to specks. Used the original horn wire for the primary side of the relay, ran a new line from the accessory post to the secondary side of the relay, then to the horn and then to ground. I did that right EH? Well so I thought as well. Tested it and boy does that give off some sound, real nice, all done, on to the next project. In the process I needed to fire up the engine. Turned on the ignition, pushed the kill switch to run, pulled in the clutch lever and pushed the start button, and low and behold there wasn't a soul in front of the scoot anymore (not that there were any to start with), the sound coming from the horns was totally unexpected and a way too loud for a confinded space, but the scoot was running, so glory be. had to shut all that racket off so I turned the ignition off and all was quiet, good so far, at least that worked, but now to try that again, let's see,,,carefully turn on the ignition, yep ok there,,,hit the start button and WWoww, them there horns done wake a person right up from down under,,,,turn the ignition off again and am now perplexed,,,,well ,,,,,took out the fuse and through the test all was quiet,, what a blessing, I was having thoughts of needing a new radio just to be able to hear my tunes over all the constant noise,,,and somebody said to put two off those thingies on my machine???????are they nuts,,,,,,,not on mine if they're going to be going off constantly. Went to the laundry to wash off last years leftovers and when I got back I thought I had enough guts to try that fuse once more. Sure enough, put the fuse in, carefully turned on the ignition,,,you never know eH,,,,,,,and then hit the start button,,,,now it got me totally confused,,,,everything worked perfect,,,,,now how am I going to find out what went haywire. Three days later,,, it's still good,,,,,,,but if you hear someone coming down the street with his horn going full blast,,, get the coffee ready,, it'll be me and I'll be looking for some help

Gonna show how stupid I am......
Marcarl replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Noty a real good idea if you have electronics that you listen to, as the RF from the high tension wires will bleed to the frame and then back into the headsets. -
Try putting the kick stand up, flick the kill switch a few times, put the tci in the oven to dry it out.
