  1. Alright its time to do a brake job on the RSMV. where is the best place to buy the pads from? I remember reading something about not getting them from the stealership but cant remember where the suggestion was to get them from.
  2. Yesterday Went for a nice ride (about 100 miles). It started off with me meeting my friend about 20 miles from my house. when we met up i told him i wanted to stop for gas before we went anywhere. he told me that he would rather get going and push all the old gas out of his tank before we stopped for gas. i was at 3 bars on the guage so i reluctantly agreed. We headed out to the point where my fuel light just kicked on. told he we needed to stop for gas so we pulled over. I pull up to the pump and get off my bike. Just as i get off the bike i realize i left my dang fuel cap key at the house (75+ miles away). So after a little heckling on his part and some rage on mine we start heading back the direction we came from. I only made it 3 more miles before i had to switch to reserve. I only made it about half way back and had to call the wife to bring me the key. She began heckling me as well. Who the heck at yamaha decided to use the bag key for the fuel key as well. Was it to hard to just key the cap like the ignition so you can never forget your key? Anyway on a side note. Sweet redemption on the hecklers. The baby cried all the way home for the wife and while we were waiting at the gas station my partner decided to check his oil on his harley and pulled the dipstick out and broke it off in his hands (nothing went in the pan). Oh yeah the heckling reversed.
  3. I agree with alot of the guys. 100,000 miles is alot for any bike regardless of how reliable the motor is. You can find some lower mileage bkes for pretty cheap right now. I just got my 04 with 22,000 miles for $7000. It bluebooks for 11,900 according to NADA. Now if the bike is just an absolute steal like say $3000 or so get it. Just be aware that the money you saved on buying the high mile bike should go into replacing well worn items like bearings and such to keep it from turning sour. JMHO.
  4. Just have him bust out the needle gun and some haze gray. Seems to fix everything. maybe some bug juice? hell it cleans the oxidation off of brass fire nozzles and still gets served on the mess decks. now that is some all around stuff
  5. sorry item is sold out.
  6. www.leatherup.com is an awesome online store with great customer support. they sell more than just leather products. I bought a full face from them for $60. They have many different brands to chose from at a discounted price. Dont worry about getting from the internet either because their exchange policies are great. They are very helpful.
  7. They also make blue tooth helmets. I mean it isnt through your radio but its using your cell on the bike.
  8. I know i am getting back ino this conversation a little late but reading this ended the rest of the posts for me. Especially the part about the police giving you a ticket for the use of the highbeams during the DAY time. I actually just took my exam for motorcycles in VA and got 1 wrong. It was this one to be exact. I marked that it "does not" increase safety to use your high beams during the day and got it wrong. The examiner told me that VA encourages the use of High beams for motorcycles during the Daytime hours. Now coming from a cop (military or not we still utilize local statutes) the only time i give a ticket for high beams is at night when driving in the presence of other vehicles. I have never even thought about stopping someone for using their high beams dring the day. Hll i couldnt even tell they were using high beams during the day.
  9. This is my plan to the very tee. Getting loud pipes nd have now settled on Rotella T Syn. Already had the pure 1 filter.
  10. What are you looking to get for them? I am interested. I am young and new to bikes. I can still handle loud. I will keep my stock for when i get old to lol.
  11. Hey if anyone wants to get rif of their loud pipes let me know. I may just be willing to help you out.
  12. since i am going to be changing the oil for the first time tomrrow how many quarts do you put in before you start looking at the sight glass?
  13. man you all can get pretty vicious. Does this happen at meets to? I may have to come armed, i'm just a little guy with a Big bike that beats HD in every aspect. Including styling
  14. i plan on using the synthetic stuff to. If not just for the environment for the fact that it takes longer to break down hence longer between oil changes.
  15. This isnt trying to spark ANOTHER debate. you all know i am new to this and i finally got bored enough to search for pictures of a First Gen. I saw a picture of someone sitting on their seat and took a picture of the controls. I swear the first thing that popped in my mind was "ground control to major tom"
