  1. Maybe a slight correction here Tom I should have let Dana off and then tried it. You are right. But I like what condor suggested. I should have stopped, let her off, and then just backed up and turned around. Just glad it wasn't nay worse. God Bless Carl /
  2. I have a metal rod that I use just for that purpose. I have ground it down square and a little angled to do the job. it's long enough to be able to reach the nuts and so get a good tap on it. I use a mallot, about 2 lbs I think, that way I can wack more with less impact, if you know what I mean. Also, make sur you are on the lower part of the nuts, not on the top nut. Wack a couple of times and you should see some movement. Also, your steering should be fully turner to the right, right up against the stop, so that it is solid against your hammering.
  3. Try a different set of shoes or boots, or maybe make some adjustments to your shifter pedal.
  4. I find that if I install them I have to look twice, once in the reg mirror and then another look in the fisheye, oh ya and then I remember to do a shoulder check as well, tooo much time to do a check for my comfort, so I just do a shoulder check, it's quick, easy and accurate and I don't have to worry. Guess that's why they were so heavy on that at rider's training.
  5. I kind of feel like I'm 'second hand' now. Don't anybody else try this again, or I'll feel even worse, and then what'll I do for hugs.
  6. An old timer told me that trick years ago, so we all did it occasionally just to keep the combustion chamber cleaned up. Haven't had to worry much about it lately with no-lead, fuel injection and all, but it did work. Mechanics were always amazed at how clean the combustion chamber and the rings were if you did this once in a while. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for fuel injection, don't know why, just never tried it, but it makes sense in carburated engines of yesteryear. The fluid doesn't burn as quickly as fuel and so tends to bind with the carbon in the cylinder, loosens it, and helps it to burn off or to be ejected right out the back side. Result? a clean or cleaner combustion chamber.
  7. I'd say put about 1\2 qrt transmission fluid in a tank full of gas, run it thru, and then post again. Seems you have carbon build up in the one cylinder, and that will cause some issues.
  8. With nothing in the oil pan, I'd be interested in what it could be. Does the tranny shift ok?
  9. 1st gen manual download: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3384 Your sticky throttle could be a carb sync needed, or the cables need to be adjusted or lubbed or both, or one or the other cable maybe starting to fray. I would do a carb cleaning with Seafoam 1st, then do a sync, if that don't fix it then do a lub on the cables and lastly would be to change the cables because that means work,,, but it's all worth it,, you now have an awsome scooter.
  10. Now that is good news, I'll tell Marca if I can remember that long enough to when I get in the house. Ride well Mary, and Jopie,, look after her eh!!???!!!
  11. Don't know if you will ever be the same again Charlie,, I'm sure we'll recognize you,, but it may be kind of hard talking to you again,, at least without a big grin on my face,,,, man there sure is a resemblance.
  12. We'll be praying for you bro. Depend on Him.
  13. So it seems that you are in agreement with the statement that 'you do not have a weapon'.
  14. I didn't see any weapon, only a shoe.
  15. Got home just fine about 9 tonite. Made a couple of detours on the eay home, no matter all adds to the mileage and that they pay for, total 1191 kms in three days. Only one little incident,, well maybe two. The first is that I bonked my head this morning at Andrea's place. She has a split level town house with an opening from the dining kitchen area to the living room, but the opening is only soo high and when you walk over there and lean into the living room the top of the opening doesn't give way, you actually tend to bounce back and land on the floor, with blood spirting out of your head as though you'd been shot. Not really all that bad, didn't need stitches or anything, just a little tender love and I played it along all day, so Marca was a nurse today and Carl was happy. Item #2 happened in Peterborough and involved a Harley, well he thought he was involved anyways. We were coming off of # 7 hyway making a left at the lights going onto the 115, a 4 lane hyway. He was in the left turnoff lane and I was in the next one to it also turning left. There we were, a Harley,,,,vroom, vroom,, vrrrrooommmmm. and an 85 Venture Royale, 2 up and in the outside lane,,, hhhhhmmmmmmmhhhhmmmmmhhhhmmm. Carl in the front,, being as I was the designated rider and Marca in the paasenger seat, (so nicely vacated by Bongobob only two weeks ago,,,,, oh if only Bob were my passenger at this juncture) and she's doing the talking,,,don't you even dare,,,I'm getting off,,,,,,CARL!!!!!!!! oh it was tempting, so easy for the picking, could have blown him right off the hyway,,,,, sucked him up my tailpipes,, even with Bob on the back,,,,, oh why does this happen right now,,, where is he when all is equal and I'm only one up,,, it bothered me all the way home,,,, I let him get ahead,, but not for long,,darn it, at 100 he was just making all he could and I was right on his rear,, no I didn't pass him,, but he got the message,, if I wanted to I could have and then he got off the 115 before I lost control and gave in to sweet urgings.
  16. Just remember bro, not everything is in your hands, there is Someone watching you, and they have taken what He entrusted to you. Rest easy. Carl Still a rotten thing to have happen!!!!!!
  17. Got to meet with the 'shirts' and yep they all dress that way, thankfully thy all had one on. Spent 1.5 hours, talked a limited amount, but the 3 of us got their interest,, well to be honest, I think they were interested to start with, so now they want to have a meeting in Toronto, with their provincial counter parts. This may move in the right direction, we have to have faith,, but at least there is movement and where there is movement there be hope for life. Thanks for your prayers and thoughts. Carl
  18. Made it safely last night, took our time and got here about 9:30, now I'm looking forward to meeting with the shirts in WestBlock. Will post later. Carl
  19. Ok we off,,,, 'course you all knew that, but this time it's for real. Let you know how it panned out when we get back, sometime Friday. Carl
  20. Ride baby ride,,, what's been said so far is so close to the truth that I would even say that they are right. Don't worry about swapping out the engine just yet though, I don't think Brad knows where you two are, pretty hard to find a new engine in Alaska HUH. Enjoy your trip, it should run fine.
  21. Is that a sucker???????? With the smile behind it , maybe it's a sunfish

  23. Can you believe it???????? Commons Committee on Agriculture and Food has asked yours truly to come and speak to them on the issues that relate to the meat business, and more specifically how it relates to me,,,, they are interesed in little oll me,,, wow, I'm going,,,,,scoot, Marca and all,,,,,, get to say my piece,, well Marca rewrote it (does that mean I have to speak what she wrote????) on Thursday at 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm and then I'm done until I head home on Friday. Plan on leaving Brantford around noon and then head up to Mono Mills, over to New Market and then catch hyway 7 into Ottawa, should be there about 8pm. Weather forcast is not so bad, good temps and no real rain in the forcast, we'll be enjoying our outing for sure.
