  1. Hey Clive - Not sure if I am following you but coincidentally, the exhaust pipe weld coming out of my collector failed a few mongths ago, as shown in the picture. This happened on the opposite side to my problem last year and this time, I was able to repair the problem with a mig welder.

Yes, Larry, so good to "see" your good news. Hope the conversion also goes well!
  3. Congratulations Paul - I think - you didn't mention what you will be retrained to do?
  4. Welcome Charles. Good decision, I think.
  5. My thought also - thanks for the post.
  6. I had a similar vintage Kawasaki 400 and Suzuki 500 (two stroke). Did many trips and put many miles on the Suzuki 500. Tried to make it to the top of Mount Washington on it but the high altitude caused it to stall out.
  7. Seems to me like you are getting good advice for your insurance decision - so all I can add is I'm glad for you it wasn't worse and I hope your woulds and your aches and pains heal quickly.
  8. Not sure what you mean, but am interested. Can you explain a bit more.
  9. Bet Becky is relieved that it is back up!
  10. For sure Bob - good site - good people - good posts; and this is a good example!!
  11. Comments appreciated, including this comment from Tom. I did something similar to what Tom mentions to reduce the visibility of a scar on my saddlebag lid. But instead of using a colored crayon, I used some nail polish that was a good color match. It definitely helped on the saddlebag lid, but I would have liked the result more if the nail polish had been a thinner. Also, I think it would be much more difficult to do a good job with nail polish on the side of the fairing because I couldn't work with in a flat position like I could the saddlebag lid.
  12. Enjoy your project Carl. Looks good!
  13. Like others, I really do wish you the best and I know it isn't easy, so keep up the good effort.
  14. A Moto Guzzi dealer here in Toronto also sells Urals. I was told that they are pretty rugged bikes.
  15. There is a web site which has info on stations that have ethanol free gas. It is http://www.pure-gas.com. It claims that premium Canadian Tire gas is also ethanol free.
  16. Sounds fabulous Kent. Hope your move goes well and you are able to settle in quickly - and enjoy!!
  17. Larry and Joyce, you have my prayers and best wishes for Larry's full and speedy recovery.
  18. What makes this even worse is that it appears to be an accident that should not have happened. Prayers for you both, Larry and Joyce.
  19. ---- and remember, there must be something about getting better as you get older.
  20. Totally agree based on my own experience. I lost a cover on a freeway (was able to go back and find it). Made up some hangers the next day. Initially I used #⃣14 electrical wire but over time, the wire gave way at the connector so I also went to nylon cord like Condor. They really work great and have saved me from losing a lid several times since. They also work well on 1st gens to just hang your lids when you want access to your side bags.

    Fall Colors

Good point Carl. In fact, there is quite a bit of colour already north of Bracebridge, but that is likely more due to our hot and dry summer. There are some good sites that report on fall colour status throughout the province such as the following: www.ontariotravel.net/publications/fallcolourreport.pdf
  22. Great pics Steve.
  23. I was told by a fellow VentureRider that it is not if, but rather when my VR will go over. Well, it did recently, and left some minor scars on the corner of the fairing. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make these scars that you can see in the pictures less visible without repainting the fairing?
  24. I recently mounted this led brake/tail/signal light bar that was on sale here in Ontario at Princes Auto for about $20. I liked this bar as it could be separated from the frame that it came in so it fits neatly under my trunk. Was able to avoid drilling holes by using plastic ties around my trunk rack. Mounted the light bar immediately below the trunk, so my helmet holders including locks are still functional. Used wood shims visible in the picture but not visible from behind to keep the light bar hanging straight. Also, I wired the lights by just plugging into my trailer wiring plug.
