  1. Sure like your stable Miles and your latest addition is really amazing. Enjoy!!
  2. Hope this year turns out to be a good one for you Rhonda.
  3. Congrats Tom and Amy. Has your snow in your area disappeared yet? Enjoy!
  4. I would like to echo Marcarl's comment.
  5. I checked other threads and didn't see one specific to Canadian Tire's jack, which is on sale next week for $69 here in Canada. So, does anyone know how well suited this jack is for our 1st gen Ventures?
  6. Hey Earl, I'm truly sorry to hear of this and I sure wish you good luck as you deal with this. Wish I could offer you some help but it sounds to me from the other posts that your first step should be legal advice. I hate it when that happens.
  7. I'm no expert here but I can share my experience. I have used a flex joint combined with a short 3/8 drive extension to remove my plugs on my 88 VR. Worked great. There is no reason why I could not have used my air drive ratchet or even a 3/8 impact wrench instead of my regular ratchet with this setup. I have seen how well impact drives work at removing seized bolts so in my opinion, this is certainly worth trying. Of course, a dose of penetration oil can only help. I also agree with using air pressure to clean out the plug wells.
  8. Amazing and only ten weeks till Maintenence Day.
  9. While things have changed here in Ontario, I got my first motorcycle rated driver's license without any testing or additional fees. That was back in the 60's, when they first introduced motorcycle rated driving licenses. They grandfathered all those who already owned bikes. Also, as I recall back then, my annual cost of bike insurance was $15. I was really pissed and went a year without insurance when the insurance companies doubled the rate to around $30.
  10. My 88 also starts good in colder weather and dosen't take much choke before it smooths out.
  11. Finally, the temp has gone up to a few degrees above freezing here and the roads are good so I will fire up for the hour run to join my friends at the SW Ontario meet and greet today.
  12. Glad you were able to get away. Enjoy!
  13. Sure is frustrating. To make it worse for me, I parked my snowmobile for the season (which also happens to be a Yamaha Venture) at the end of February as the trails were shut down by that time in recent years, anticipating that I would be able to ride a bit during March. Still waiting for better weather!
  14. Congratulations Bob and I hope the job is even better than you expect.
  15. --- life is interesting!
  16. Ray, I don't know the specific size of these screws but I replaced mine with ones that I bought from a Yamaha dealer - part no 9807-04012-00. Not that expensive.
  17. My thoughts are with you for the rest of your kidney stone affair. People have told me that a kidney stone attack is the closet thing for men that compares to childbirth for women. While I have had two attacks and know how painful they are, I can't vouch for the claim that they are like childbirth. Anyway, good luck!
  18. Great project. I suspect Marca is also happy that Carl is so preoccupied.
  19. Yes, all very interesting and good questions. Like Freebird, I am skeptical given that there is also the Spyder clone. I will admit that I have been amazed by how quickly the Kia and Hyundai produced vehicles have become competitive.
  20. Always been one of my favorites Gary. Enjoy your project!!
  21. There was one on display at the downtown Toronto Bike Show. Sure looks good Dave, and it suits you - fast and sleek!!
  22. Brian, I hope to attend the show Friday and will definitely look for you. In fact, both Abdul and I tried to find you but neither of us could locate the CMA booth at the December bike show here in Toronto.
  23. As it stands, we will be entertained this weekend by our two young grandkids who will be staying over for the weekend. As a result, my only chance to make the bike show will be on Friday, and I will check to see if I can hook up with other members that day? We sure enjoyed the meet and eat after the show last year and hope to make the next one.
  24. Compliments to Don for what he has done and how he does it and my very best wishes to all fellow Venturerider's for a Merry Christmas and a good year ahead.
  25. Wayne, I really do believe there is something to that old adage about getting better with time. Enjoy the experience - and happy trails ahead!
