If you have copper, would it help to change over to pex? It's a lot easier and can be fished from one place to another,,,,, just a thought.

Your rear brakes; hose coming from the reservoir to the master maybe need a bit of attention, and the master may have the little hole plugged,,,,, sounds about right so I said it.

I know around here I could find somebody to sit on it for a while and if the timing is right almost anything will die from the results,,,, don't you have somebody like that around your area? To bad it's not a venture or a HD sign could kill it as well.

Info on replacing the stator?
Marcarl replied to camos's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Don't use brake fluid for cleaning, use brake cleaner or contact cleaner. I think that is what was meant, but didn't get printed somehow. The inside lip of the washer goes in towards the engine.- 24 replies

Throttle adjustment
Marcarl replied to Scudrunner's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You'll have a hard time with any syncing unless the diaphrams are in good shape and seated properly, so check and maybe fix that first. Then you can look for more vacuum leaks. You should also somehow make sure the carbs are clean and workable so that all cylinders are firing, then finally you'll have something you can work with to use the sync tool. If you try to short cut the process you'll not get anywhere, but totally frustrated.- 11 replies

Southern Ontario is all good roads,, well except for the 401, but that has it's uses as well, if only it's to keep the traffic off the nice roads. We have straight roads, twisty roads and hilly roads and we have BradT,, nobody else has BradT, so we win. If you can, let us know where you want to enter Ontario, and where you would like to exit, and we'll draw out a really good map for ya.

I'm staying right here close to home,,, those roads look real nice, but i don't like where they put them,,, now if they put them on level ground, I'd be there.

Sounds to me that the info so far is correct. You have air in the lines and so when you squeeze the handle you are not releasing the clutch entirely, which will make it hard to shift, if not impossible. Try to shift with the engine off and and you'll see what I mean. So once you get the air out of the system, you should be good to go, unless you get more air in there, and then you'll need to fix that problem.

Another fuel pump question
Marcarl replied to TEW47's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Run a couple of wires from the battery, or from a charger, directly to the pump to see if it will work, if it does, then you need to work on the relay, if it doesn't, replace the pump as Gary indicated.- 13 replies

Seems to me that maybe you have been messing with the sync screws. On the 2nd gen the sync screws are reachable from the right side only, and the one for 1 and 2 cylinder you have to get from the right side. On the 1st gen, they are available on their own respective sides. So if you had to go to the opposite side to adjust, then I would kind of think that you were playing with the sync screws. The mixture screws come with a protective cap installed over them, to keep folks from adjusting them, so, unless you or somebody else has removed those caps, you can't be adjusting the mixture screws, so that leaves only the sync screws to play with,,,, and if you have been playing with them and have no gauge, then it's time to find a gauge. You CANNOT sync the carbs without a gauge,,, just can't be done.

Hey, that's wonderful, to become Grandpa again on father's day. Congrats to you both and to the parents.
-
Or you could have a bum pump relay,,, I know I did on my first gen. What I did was to try to take it out, drop it on the ground , put it back in and has been fine since.
