MC tires have 95% of their traction in the rain,,, maybe not so much in standing water, but as mentioned they do a pretty good job of slicing through the wet. Question always is, do you make a sudden maneuver to avoid a puddle or ride through it? Always a question, but sometimes riding through is a whole lot better than losing traction because of some knee jerk reaction. You'd be amazed what these machines can do. As far as your tires being ready, the nobbies are still on mine after 1000 km, and I would say that 80 miles puts you in good shape that way. Wax up your windshield and visor,,,, maybe even your glasses,,, I don't wear glasses so I don't know about that one. So far my windshield has 4 coats of wax on it,,, wait about 4 hours between coats,, and I take along rainX just in case.

Yep, I think they older they get the wiser they become. You can count yourself lucky to have somebody so close by with a camera, that way you'll be able to remember things that have happened and the rest of us would know the truth of the matters. The older they get the more comfortable they become,,,, only a few of us know what it's like to ride a gentle steed at this age, or were you talking about some Southerner we all know???

Done as requested. Best thing to do, is to take some time alone with your whole family,, all 4 of you and talk to the Comforter about your troubles. It'll be time well spent and will be a heap of help. -

Depends on the trailer, size of tire and other things. I have a small trailer, about 150lbs empty, for that I run about 15 lbs each side. If I going to put more in it than the bike should pull, I might put 20 lbs in it. Criteria is that you should have as much tire on the road as possible, but not have it soft on the bottom so that it runs hot.

And so it happened,,,,, Scamper, that trusty steed, knowing that she was to travel for a long ways this weekend, and that her master was going to fully depend on all her resources and expertise, and that the conditions might not always be as desired, she thought it best to lay down for a much needed rest,,,, trouble is, that at her age she laid down a little faster than what she might have planned and broke one of her wings,,,, ya, sad but true, but I did remind her that at the far end of our journey there would be a brand new one waiting for her. She was feeling so sad about her injury that she even lowered her eyes,,,, poor girl, I felt so sorry for her laying there, showing her under belly,, not often some one gets to see that side of her, she was glad it was only me and her together. Actually: Got her up on the floor jack, and then played with the kick stand,,, decided to lower her to the floor again, and thought the KS was down,,, until I felt that she started to lean a bit further than normal, and then further than further and then???????????????????? Donation time and a new wing,,,, there goes another $30.

Looking at some of the models,, I think they called it that because it crossed over the line,,, and the first time I seen one I said to my wife,,, now what do you call that,,, and her reply was,,,,,,,,,butt ugly!

The 83,84, and 85's don't have a controller for the passenger, that was new thing in 86. Your 85 would just have a 5 pin wire going to the back where the passenger can plug in. It's a separate plug into the amplifier. Amplifier has 4 plug in's 1 driver, 2 passenger, 3 tape deck, 4 radio. The radio looks to be part and parcel with the amp, but if you look closely, they are 2 separate units tied together.

Hey I said I would start a thread on this, so here it is. Plans so far: MarCarl to leave home at 8 am, arrive at Casablanca about 9 Leave Casablanca at 9:30, arrive at Fort Erie about 10:15 Cross the border and head for Quality Inn, Elyria, Ohio, hopefully be there in time to have a shower (only if needed) and then go to QSL for supper. So who's coming, and where do we have to wait for Ben?

Marca now has one of those stretchy things that you can put around your neck when it gets cold, it's made of some polyester material I think. Anyways it's big enough to go right around her head and over her hair,,, keeps the hair out of her eyes and makes things look better when the helmet comes off,,, at least she is happy, but her hair is straight,, not a curl in sight. -
I think the answer might be two fold. 1) They are folks who think that bikes are a death machine and why would that women want to get on that thing and risk her life like that, after all, she's not 16 anymore. 2) They are just jealous and would love to change places with you,,, and I think this is what is mostly thought. So just let them eat their heart out,,,, maybe even go over to say HI, and see what their reaction will be,,, it might surprise you ,, and you get to meet more people.

If the rain bothers you, you could spend some time looking in the pond for items of various description that seems to have been deposited in the watery depths. It has been shown that rain has very little effect on your day once in the pond.

Just rinse it off with plain water,,,, if it cleans up, it's brake fluid, if it stays there it's an oil. -
