  1. I try to keep these kind of things to myself as my emotions are mine to deal with and not everyone else's. What Im asking for is a prayer if your so inclined. Only a few on here know that my mom has dementia that has been progressing rather quickly. To make things worse her mom died from dementia complications Monday night at 11:45 and mom has went on a downward spiral since then. She now has a urinary tract infection that makes her diabetes hard to handle, and her emotions are off the scales. Grandma was the last of her line as all her parents and brothers and sisters have already passed on . Mom feels like its now her resposinilty to take care of her brothers and sisters and she cant so this is killing her. Sorry if Im rambling as my own emeotions are all over the place wright now. I cant take the time to grieve my grandma because I have to take care of mom. to top it off the family has now decided that since Im the elder grandchild its my job to lead the paul bearers( spelling??). Im just thankfull beyond explanation for my wife as she is stepping up big time to take care of mom when I cant.I cant carry her casket and mom too. Thanks for letting me vent as this is the best group of folks ( family ) I can ever emagine haveing and Ill do my best to read ,listen, or do what ever I can when its some ones else's turn to need help. god bless you all David
  2. Well after a great day with our VR family I called my mom to check on my grandfather. He was put in the hospital on new year's eve day with a urinary tract infection. The call I made was very short due to my mom telling me he had just died and she was waiting for the funeral home to call her back. This was a bit of a shock to say the least to me. I'm the only one that doesn't live near by. So luckily my brother & his wife were there along with my sister who works in the hospital. I'm very glad we made the trip up for Christmas because that will be my last memory of him. I was hoping to be able to bring my first grandchild up to see him, but it wasn't meant to be. My daughter is due on saturday. I consider myself extremely lucky to have been able to grow up with my grandparents around. I spent a large part of my childhood with them and my grandmother's sisters. I also consider myself lucky that my daughter got to know her great-grandparents so well. My grandfather was born in 1918 after the 1st world war, he was in the 2nd world war. My grandparents dated for 5 years before getting engaged. I know he missed my grandmother terribly after we lost her. He lived on his own for most of the time after we lost her and only recently moved in with my folks (7 months ago). I know he was 94, but I don't think I was really ready for him to be gone yet. With grandma it was a blessing since she had cancer and she didn't really suffer till right before the end. With his passing all those in that generation in my family are gone. My grandparents were always there for me as a child and as an adult. I'll miss them both, but I'll have all those memories to help with the loss. Of course this one will be a bit harder getting over. When we lost grandma we still had him, now they are both gone. 3. Grandma's boyfriend A 5-year-old boy went to visit his grandmother one day. Playing with his toys in her bedroom while grandma was dusting, he looked up and said, 'Grandma, how come you don't have a boyfriend now that Grandpa went to heaven?' Grandma replied, 'Honey, my TV is my boyfriend. I can sit in my bedroom and watch it all day long. The religious programs make me feel good and the comedies make me laugh ... I'm happy with my TV as my boyfriend.' Grandma turned on the TV, and the reception was terrible. She started adjusting the knobs, trying to get the picture in focus. Frustrated, she started hitting the backside of the TV hoping to fix the problem. The little boy heard the doorbell ring, so he hurried to open the door and there stood Grandma's minister. The minister said, 'Hello son, is your Grandma home?' The little boy replied, 'Yeah, she's in the bedroom bangin' her boyfriend.' The minister fainted. Now, that's funny... I don't care WHO you are
