  1. Found this poem on Facebook, thought everyone would enjoy it......... When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value. Later, when the nurses were going through his meagre possessions, They found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in mags for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem. And this old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet. Cranky Old Man What do you see nurses? . . .. . .What do you see? What are you thinking .. . when you're looking at me? A cranky old man, . . . . . .not very wise, Uncertain of habit .. . . . . . . .. with faraway eyes? Who dribbles his food .. . ... . . and makes no reply. When you say in a loud voice . .'I do wish you'd try!' Who seems not to notice . . .the things that you do. And forever is losing . . . . . .. . . A sock or shoe? Who, resisting or not . . . ... lets you do as you will, With bathing and feeding . . . .The long day to fill? Is that what you're thinking?. .Is that what you see? Then open your eyes, nurse .you're not looking at me. I'll tell you who I am . . . . .. As I sit here so still, As I do at your bidding, .. . . . as I eat at your will. I'm a small child of Ten . .with a father and mother, Brothers and sisters .. . . .. . who love one another A young boy of Sixteen . . . .. with wings on his feet Dreaming that soon now . . .. . . a lover he'll meet. A groom soon at Twenty . . . ..my heart gives a leap. Remembering, the vows .. .. .that I promised to keep. At Twenty-Five, now . . . . .I have young of my own. Who need me to guide . . . And a secure happy home. A man of Thirty . .. . . . . My young now grown fast, Bound to each other . . .. With ties that should last. At Forty, my young sons .. .have grown and are gone, But my woman is beside me . . to see I don't mourn. At Fifty, once more, .. ...Babies play 'round my knee, Again, we know children . . . . My loved one and me. Dark days are upon me . . . . My wife is now dead. I look at the future ... . . . . I shudder with dread. For my young are all rearing .. . . young of their own. And I think of the years . . . And the love that I've known. I'm now an old man . . . . . . .. and nature is cruel. It's jest to make old age . . . . . . . look like a fool. The body, it crumbles .. .. . grace and vigour, depart. There is now a stone . . . where I once had a heart. But inside this old carcass . A young man still dwells, And now and again . . . . . my battered heart swells I remember the joys . . . . .. . I remember the pain. And I'm loving and living . . . . . . . life over again. I think of the years, all too few . . .. gone too fast. And accept the stark fact . . . that nothing can last. So open your eyes, people .. . . . .. . . open and see. Not a cranky old man . Look closer . . . . see .. .. . .. .... . ME!! Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within. We will all, one day, be there, too!
  2. At some point in a guy's life it comes down to this... http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/ATT000161.jpg Four guys have been going to the same fishing trip for many years. Two days before the group is to leave, Ron's wife puts her foot down and tells him he isn't going. Ron's mates are very upset that he can't go, but what can they do. Two days later the three mates get to the camping site only to find Ron sitting there. The tent is set up, firewood gathered, and dinner cooking on the fire. "Geez Ron, how long you been here? How did you talk your missus into letting you go ?" "Well, I've been here since last night. After dinner at home yesterday evening, I was sitting in my chair and my wife came up behind me and put her hands over my eyes and said, "Guess who ?'" I pulled her hands off, and she was wearing sexy brand new lingerie. She said had been reading 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and she had a devilish look in her eyes. She took my hand and led me to our bedroom. The room had candles and rose petals all over. On the bed she had handcuffs, and ropes ! She told me to tie her up and cuff her to the bed, so I did. Then she said, "Do whatever you want." So, here I am !
  3. This time of year alot of people will be doing various things to their bikes or other equiptment, in order to get them ready for next year... Make sure you wear proper saftey gear for the job at hand... Specifically....saftey glasses. I just got a shot of carb cleaner in both eyes after having worn them all day. Really wanted to paint my 612 Dozer blade today, had it all stripped down and took the glasses off (they were fogging up) to finnish up the corners and hard to reach areas with my scaler. When i went to clean the debri off of the scaling gun, you guessed it, the carb cleaner went in to my eyes and right now I'm hoping the damage is not permanent... Wear the saftey gear all the time, and above all else .... Know when to call it quits...

  6. And so it happened,,,,, Scamper, that trusty steed, knowing that she was to travel for a long ways this weekend, and that her master was going to fully depend on all her resources and expertise, and that the conditions might not always be as desired, she thought it best to lay down for a much needed rest,,,, trouble is, that at her age she laid down a little faster than what she might have planned and broke one of her wings,,,, ya, sad but true, but I did remind her that at the far end of our journey there would be a brand new one waiting for her. She was feeling so sad about her injury that she even lowered her eyes,,,, poor girl, I felt so sorry for her laying there, showing her under belly,, not often some one gets to see that side of her, she was glad it was only me and her together. Actually: Got her up on the floor jack, and then played with the kick stand,,, decided to lower her to the floor again, and thought the KS was down,,, until I felt that she started to lean a bit further than normal, and then further than further and then???????????????????? Donation time and a new wing,,,, there goes another $30.
  7. 1st ride of the year. 2nd car of the year. 3rd mile of the year. I pulled onto 2 Way Hwy M-115 and accelerating to 55 - 60-ish, the first car seen is just cresting the slight hill top, just then red sports car with top down and blondie talking on her cell phone as her hair whipping over her eyes too starts to pull out to pass in my lane (I'm already in my far right lane) as soon as our eyes meet I know she now sees my Modulated Headlight and pulls back behind the car she wanted to pass at my expense
  8. How does something so small mess up a wonderful day of riding. 69 degrees here in Charlotte and I can not see for more than a few moments before the tears make it difficult to see. These little particles of pollen are killing my only day to ride for a while and I'm not happy. Medicine is not touching the nose, sinus cavity or eyes...... Here is what it says locally: http://www.wunderground.com/DisplayPollen.asp?Zipcode=28214 Final Word....... THIS STINKS! I hope someone is enjoying the day. Ride a few extra miles for me.
  9. Would like to purchase a slightly used, 2005 or newer pontoon boat 26-28 footer with trailer.correction: triple tubed would be best but would settle for double tubed. Please keep your eyes open... am willing to travel up to 1000 miles for one. Am located in Sandyville WV
  10. Can anyone assist with looking at an item that is for sale in Middletown, NY? I need some eyes on it. Please PM me. Many thanks....Steve
  11. the last few weeks i have been haveing bad head aches realy bad ones. im thinking its just the sinus problems i have been suffering from the last 2 years. so off i go the E.R i could not stand the pain in my right eye? doctor there did a few test,s said the sinus are infected. but thats not whats causeing the pain in your eyes. you need to have an MRI done to the brain and the spine? you have something going on in there? so he made an appoitment with a nerologist. to see what is going on? he did give me some medicine to help with the pressure on the eyes. he said the MS could be acting up and more lesion could be forming in the central nervous system but he wont confirm that. he did say that optic nerve in that right eye is bad. they might have to insert a needle in it and take off the pressure? good chance i wont lose sight in that eye i hope. but if the MRI shows more then what he knows then where talking major operation to the brain to release some of the scar tissue that is forming on the nerves this could lead to loss of sight to the right eye. but save my spinal cord form becomming infected and causeing more problems. so thank you all in advance. appointment is thursday will keep you posted

  15. DIVORCE versus MURDER A nice, calm and respectable lady went into the pharmacy, walked up to the pharmacist, looked straight into his eyes, and said, "I’d like to buy some cyanide." The pharmacist asked, "Why in the world do you need cyanide?" The lady replied, "I need it to poison my husband." The pharmacist's eyes got big and he explained, "Lord have mercy! I can't give you cyanide to kill your husband, that's against the law? I'll lose my license! They'll throw both of us in jail! All kinds of bad things will happen. Absolutely not! You CANNOT have any cyanide!" The lady reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of her husband in bed with the pharmacist's wife. The pharmacist looked at the picture and said, "You didn't tell me you had a prescription."
  16. First: I was looking thru the calendar to see what events were planned thru the winter. With dozens of birthdays every month, the events tend to get lost. Any chance the events could be bolded or highlighted or coloured so they stand out? I know there is an icon...but these old eyes don't pick that out as easily. No biggie....just a thought. 2nd....I"m probably just missing it because it seems so obvious a need......Is there a link to show SENT PM's? If there is I can't find it!
  17. They are now in the fields picking the corn and beans here so between getting the deer stirred up and some grain getting on the roads there are more hazzards rite now. Ride safe out there and keep your eyes open!!
  18. Any 1st Gens have a Voyager kit on their bike? I would like to talk to you about them. Pros and cons, used vs new, and what would be a good price for a used one? Yep, I have my eyes on a used one. It is just the standard model, so we will see. Thanks ( I can send pics with my phone if you would like.
  19. I know you have no idea what that is unless you had one, maybe even two. It's laser surgery to prevent closed angle glaucoma. Now nobody in my family has glaucoma, but that never stopped me before. Gotta be first sometimes. So back in March I went to get my eye's checked for new glasses (got bifocals) and found out I'm a candidate for glaucoma (who knew I didn't sign up for this, someone must have nominated me). Anyway I totally forgot to ask if I could get contacts because he kinda threw me with that one. He told me my eye pressure was a bit high (for info normal pressure is between 12 and 22) I was at 18. So I had to go back in April to see if it was still high, it was. So today I had my iridectomy. They put a bunch of drops in my eye and one of them was to do the opposite of dilating your eyes. (my pupil is literally a dot) They put this lens in my eye to direct the laser to the right spot. That felt kinda weird too. Plus they put a jelly on it which feels kinda gooey. Then a really quick zap (he said it would feel like a bee sting, wish he hadn't said that) Then it was over. Then I had to drive home with my eye watering like a faucet was turned on. It's finally a bit more normal now. I go back next thursday for my check up and I'm guessing to make my next appointment for the other eye. He said to check it, but I'm betting it has to be done as well. His tech was cute she asked if I'd had this before I said no she was surprised cause I was so calm. I've had plenty of stuff done to my right eye over the years. I was born with Ptosis (don't pronounce the P) plus astigmatism and lazy eye all in the same eye. Now I have this and I also seem to have floaters in that eye. Talk about piling on. But I've been going to ophthalmologists since I was 6 months old so I'm use to it. Plus since they found this out so early I shouldn't have any damage to my eyes now from that. So you really should get your eye's checked every year never know what you might catch early. Glaucoma doesn't have any real noticeable symptoms till it's doing damage. Well that's my PSA for the day. Margaret
  20. After working all day, I (we) caught the back end of this movie (again). It is a powerfull story which left us with a lump in our throat and a tear in our eyes. I can't help but get pi$$ed off by the insult made against these brave men who gave so much for our freedom.
  21. I have been a nurse in a school district for 18 years. Every year when it gets to be the week before school starts up again, I am afraid I get a bit down. I know I am spoiled, I get more time off than other nursing jobs. I admit I am spoiled. So tonight I was shopping with Ron and I spotted a little girl in the store, who I know goes to the school where I worked. Her eyes lit up and she ran over to give me a hug. I think it was God's way of making me remember why I work where I do. Silly me. Yama Mama
  22. All eyes on our Allies 07/22/2009 FERGUS, Ont. -- When the pedal-to-the-metal crowd meets the pedal-steel-guitar crowd in this central Ontario town for the annual Fergus Truck show this week, they’ll get a chance to see a platoon of some of the prettiest iron on the continent. The Show ‘n’ Shine event is always a big draw. But this year, one truck in particular is guaranteed to bring tears to even the most jaded of eyes. It’s a 2010 Volvo VN 670 with a 485-hp D 13 Volvo engine, I-shift automatic transmission, fully tricked out sleeper berth, aluminum wheels, full fairings and everything else an owner-operator might want in a truck. (Just thinking about it makes you kinda emotional, don’t it?) http://todaystrucking.com/images/usr_220709124206_Ally02.jpg But here’s the thing: Every year, Volvo employees in the New River Valley Plant in Virginia trick out one rig for use in the Memorial and D-Day parades Stateside, and this year, they borrowed this 670 from Sheehan’s Truck Centre in Burlington, Ont., for the honor. The truck’s a virtual history lesson. Most recently, the truck that will be on display in Fergus was escorted through Washington D.C., by a few hundred motorcyclists, as part of the Memorial Day Weekend. http://www.todaystrucking.com/images/usr_220709124206_Ally01.jpg And the good folks in Virginia didn’t overlook the Canadians who fought so valiantly in WW-II. Explains Volvo spokesman Jim McNamara: “If you look closely at the image on the fuel tank fairings, you’ll see Canadian flags in front of gravestones and a bagpiper playing, in remembrance of the role Canadian soldiers played on D-Day.” The Fergus show opens Thursday and runs until Sunday.

  25. Hey guys. I told you about my Central Australia trip middle of 2008. I think most of you are also aware that I'm a keen (pro)photographer. Did I also mention that I do 3D Stereo photography? Anybody familiar with it or even tried it? Have a look at these. If you want to see the 3D, just look at the centre of the big picture and cross your eyes until the images merge, and "Whammo!" There you have it. Can't see it - keep trying. It's a bit like riding a bicycle. Once you've mastered it you will have it forever.
