  1. As I was sitting here doing my usual checking on the latest posts and trying to avoid all the stuff on television, I started going back to the oldest posts we have, which are dated to mid 2007. It is amazing to read some of these posts and to think how much some of our lives have changed in the last five years. It is also surprising in how many names I recognized that are now expired. It is kind of sad to see this, but this is a continuously evolving group and things do change. You should try this sometime if you have not already done it. RandyA
  2. The bikes are put away for the winter.
  3. I heard it was loaded and on it's way to Big Tom's house... so sad..
  4. I just changed oil in the Midnight, and discovered it took me almost two years to get 3,000 miles. Sad that I haven't rode more than that.....
  5. And so it happened,,,,, Scamper, that trusty steed, knowing that she was to travel for a long ways this weekend, and that her master was going to fully depend on all her resources and expertise, and that the conditions might not always be as desired, she thought it best to lay down for a much needed rest,,,, trouble is, that at her age she laid down a little faster than what she might have planned and broke one of her wings,,,, ya, sad but true, but I did remind her that at the far end of our journey there would be a brand new one waiting for her. She was feeling so sad about her injury that she even lowered her eyes,,,, poor girl, I felt so sorry for her laying there, showing her under belly,, not often some one gets to see that side of her, she was glad it was only me and her together. Actually: Got her up on the floor jack, and then played with the kick stand,,, decided to lower her to the floor again, and thought the KS was down,,, until I felt that she started to lean a bit further than normal, and then further than further and then???????????????????? Donation time and a new wing,,,, there goes another $30.
  6. I have tried three times in the last week to purchase some pants and a jacket from LeatherUp.com and have had all three rejected for different reasons. The first one said they couldn't verify the address (canadian, eh), the second said it had to be paid on paypal (instead of credit card) so for the third attempt I used paypal and I just got a note that they've been told that paypal hasn't approved my purchase of $200 and I've got room of over $500 on the account... Very sad here... wanted to get this stuff in time for my May 1 initial ride of the season... BUMMER! Has anyone else, north of the 49th, had any issue with them? or is this just personal? Thanks.
  7. 'cause we are not going to make it back to the states this year. I had a pre trial conference on Monday with my lawyer and barrister and the other side has finally acknowledged that they have some liability!! My legal team do not want me leaving the country this year. I have another pre trial in six weeks [30th April] Legal team for Main Roads Dept. want to send me to see more Dr's and an Occupational Therapist again. They are trying to say that I can go back to work!! which reduces my claim. I'm in this till the end... as it's the rest of our lives!! So sad we wont get to see you.....BUT........ I have already submitted the paperwork to the shipping agent for the trike to go to the U.S. in 2013 So, you need to take photo's of M&E's and rallies so we can enjoy it all long distance
  8. Well, my Twins left today for their new adoptive home in Oklahoma. It was a trade off...the Twins or a Venture. Picked the Venture ( and the right choice of a 1st Genner). Still sad to see the girls go. They were a different type of fun. But time to move on to bigger and better things....
  9. Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will see no cute little smiley faces on this ~Just the stone cold truth of a great friendship. When you are sad ~ I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad. When you are blue ~ I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you. When you smile ~ I will know you are thinking of something that I would probably want to be involved in. When you are scared ~ I will rag on you about it every chance I get until you're NOT. When you are worried ~ I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining. When you are confused ~ I will try to use only little words. When you are sick ~ Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have. When you fall ~ I will laugh at your clumsy ass, but I'll help you up. This is my oath .... I pledge it to the end. 'Why?' you may ask ~ because you are my friend. Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth. Send this to 10 of your closest friends (including the one who sent it to you). Then get depressed because you can only think of 4.
  10. heading out to pine river MN. to attend the funeral. friday. then a few days with my daughter. dianne is going to swing down from dakota to see me as well in brainerd and to visit my daughter. so there will be some sad times and some good times. god bless all of you. try not to miss the oldgoat too much:bighug:
  11. three days ago my best friends daughter had a grand mal seizure. she suffered from these since she was 8 years old. well she had a bad one and her heart stopped as well. they shocked her and flew her to st cloud MN they cooled her down and placed her in a induced coma ...today they tried to warm her up. and there was no response. her brain and body shut down. she passed away. she was only 34 years old . i am verry sad as i dont have the money to travel up there for the funeral service. but i would like to ask for a few prayers for her family . me and her family where verry close. they even took me in when i was homeless. so you can see how bad i feel. thanks james
  12. Loctite Threadlockers and many plastics lead to very sad owners. With ABS plastics it slowly disintegrates the plastic which begins to crack, then crumble. Never EVER apply Loctite directly to plastic, and I strongly recommend you NEVER use it on any fastener that even passes through plastic and into a metal part. It is just not worth the potential grief. We report this information in various threads here every year, but inevitably we see sad stories from some people who just do not get the message. Goose
  13. Cant' believe there were no posts about the National Anthem last night. That chick left out a whole verse. Sad state when we are so tuned out we don't even hear it.

  15. I worked with Al for 30+ years and having both recently retired together we had become regular riding buddies. His latest restoration was a 1977 Suzuki GT500, that he had spent many hours bringing back to shape. Not 2 miles from home today on the 'Uki he was t-boned by a 91 year old coming out of a stop sign onto a 50 mph highway. Al was truly "one of the good ones", I don't think I had ever seen him upset, just an easy going guy. He will be sorely missed. A sad, sad time!
  16. Most of you experienced the same feeling I'm sure, the final day you look at your bike and say " UNTIL NEXT YEAR" . Al and I wanted to take one final ride on Friday, however, the weather was not cooperating. It did not looked like it was getting any better in the near future, so, with a heavy heart, we decided to put the bike to sleep for the winter. I truly envy all of our friends who live in he south and can ride all year. Be safe out there god bless Renate

    A bittersweet day

Well, our youngest, who is our 24 yr old daughter got engaged today! She is one who plans everything so she says she needs a two year engagement to get everything ready. Who are we to argue. The sad part of the day is that my father-in-law was disgnosed with stage 4 Melanoma last fall and was only given months to live back then. We are surprised that he is doing as well as he is but the sad reality is that he will not be around to see his granddaughter's wedding. Sometimes life just isn't fair.
  19. We hit a deer about 75 miles from home this afternoon. We did NOT go down, and nothing happened to us at all. The bike, however needs a new front fender, turn signal bar, and I'm suspecting probably the entire front end assembly. Slight scratch on the front fairing that I would expect will buff right out. It was a young buck that had to be put down. We were very sad! Didn't even have time to hit the brake, and we had a real tank slapper for a few seconds. Got it back in control and pulled off to the side. The insurance company isn't gonna be happy with us! I have $500 deductable that I wil have to somehow come up with... ***SIGH***
  20. Help! I broke the CB antenna off. I wanted to just loosen the nuts and lower the antenna, so a bike cover would fit without cutting holes in it. The nuts were really tight, probalby corroded in place. I guess that I just put too much pressure on the wrenches and snapped the antenna off. Just a very sad experience! Does anyone have one for sale now or know where I can find one? Looks bad without it too! Thank You! Nemo.
  21. MurrayD ... a new member here has just taken delivery of my '87. I was sad to see her go but Murray seems like a great guy and I'm sure he'll look after her and appreciate her and get as much enjoyment and mileage as I did. Needless to say, Nina was sad as well as the '87 was the first bike for her and she fell in love with it and riding. I hope Murray's wife gets as much enjoyment out of touring on the '87 as Nina did. A few pics of our '87 side-by-side our new '06.
