Lower fairing cowling-HELP!
Marcarl replied to Yamamike's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you decide to cable tie the lower part, don't tighten it, it designed to be able to flex and tightening it will put undue stress on the upper tabs. -
So you're going to have a Class Meet & Greet at your place,, everybody is going to want you to deal with their Class issues. Best get the food ready. BTW, your story had me sitting in the dentist chair, no wonder your scoot fixed itself.

Maybe time to change the fuel lines, and that is a tricky business, unless you blow big bucks for the original. I always listen for the fuel pump to click or quit clicking before I start my scoot. If the filter is plugged it won't quit running and if it doesn't work it won't click to start with. Don't know why I do that, I just do.

Hate to tell you my friend, but somebody has to come out with the truth,,,, it's not the seat, nor would it be the rider, so it's got to be the folks she meets at these rallies.

And He said that not a hair would fall from our heads without Him knowing about it, and that if He made sure the sparrows got food,,, how much for us. We will ask for guidance for you, and you will be looked after, maybe not the way you might expect, but He won't let you down. -
white labeling on controls
Marcarl replied to soraoka's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sorry, gave only half the story. What I described works for raised lettering, using the contact cleaner only on the cloth only to wipe off the raised part of the lettering so that the paint will stick to the raised part and not flow into any depressions. On depressed lettering it's different. You'll need to clean everything real well, especially the lettering, then just smear the paint on so that it colors the lettering (too much is not good as it will crack on drying) the wipe of the surface with a clean rag. You won't wipe out the lettering if you're careful. -
If there are really good clutch cover and stator cover inserts I would be interested.

Maybe more cost effective to buy a new antenna, you'll know it's going to work right, less driving around to find one long enough and the right diameter and they won't loose the top end again. They lost the top in the first place because the screw got loose, so what's going to stop the screw from coming loose again. It didn't necessarily back out, chances are the business end of the screw wore down and so released the stick.

But????????? does it take calls from prospective employers???

Commercials have a way of shaping our future,, they get us used to new ideas, new ways of doing things, new ways to talk, new ways dress,,, you name it. We should be watchful in what we allow ourselves to be subjected to. The back lash from this commercial shows somewhat how we feel,,, problem is, it's been tried once, it'll be tried again and soon commercials like this will be the norm. It'll be interesting to see how this will develop our thinking and tolerance a few years from now.- 12 replies

Clean the area real well, then Vaseline the area, especially in and around the letters. The clean the top of the letters with contact cleaner,,, now paint, let dry and clean away the smeared Vaseline. The paint you use,,,,well that's your choice. -
I read what was posted so far,,,, then I racked my brain,,, after I found something that I thought might look like it,,,, but could not come up with a better solution.

If I remember correctly, a stud won't work because it will get in the way to remove the cylinder. I have tapped that particular hole to a 1\4-28 and it works very well,,,, at least Wizard765 hasn't complained in 2 years.

Doesn't evaporate, you can smoke without it blowing up in your face, it doesn't cause things to rust, it cleans as it goes, and once your done with it, it kills thistles. -
Didn't have time to read all the posts, but can I have my input? I'm 5'10", 170 or so. I ride an 85. My wife is a little heavier than me ad about 5'9". When we started to ride together, she got strict instructions. Put both your hands on my shoulders and then mount up when I say ok,,, not before. First time was ok, but then it degraded so I started to do the safety thing, I left the kick stand down until she was set. Forgot to do that once, and I'll not forget that night, I sure knew I was of the male gender. Fast forward to this week. The first time she got on, I wondered if she had got on yet,,, yep, she now knows this thing real good,,,, oooppps, Sunday was a different story, she forgot something and I had to hang on, but she noticed and said,,, I'm sorry and the rest of the day went just fine. The other thing she has learned is that once in the saddle she becomes a bag of wheat. If she needs to move, it's when we are going 20mph or better, under that, she sits still. We're learning,,,,,,,, 7th season this year!!!

Seemingly our Father decided that she was better with Him than with us. For what ever reason, we may never be able to understand, but we Can trust His better judgement for He knows what the future will and would hold for her. For us, those left behind, it's not so easy to carry on, unless we can leave it all with Him. So I will pray for the Comforter for you and your family, and that through the tribulation you now feel, you may also be able to see a future.

Radiator Hose... Where for art thou!
Marcarl replied to Dizzle223's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I did some research, hope it helps. Fiche#............ Part#............... Yamaha........ Flatout......... YamahaSportsPlaza 1 ........... 26H-1258-00-00............... N\A.......... $30.71................... N\A 26.......... 26H-1256601-00............................... $47.02.................. $34.64 28...........90445-092K1-00................................$6.60.....................$4.62 30...........26H-12576-01-00..............................$36.69....................$27.03 31...........26H-12579-01-00...............N\A..........$21.12......................N\A 33...........26H-12577-01-00.............N\A............$60.78......................N\A 51...........26H-12589-00-00.............N\A............$22.05......................N\A 53...........26H-12588-01-00.............N\A............$11.88.....................$8.75 From my research it looks like Flatout Motorcycle is the place to try. Just because they show that the parts are available, doesn't mean that their parts fiche is up to date. Maybe a call to confirm availability would be a smart thing to do. The way it looks to me, if you need all the hoses, you'll need what's listed above. Some you could make up yourself, some you'll have to become creative, maybe using some straight hose with steel or copper elbows or straight joiners. As mentioned before, you could check out your local NAPA for some help in getting some of the hose pieces. Another note of interest: Flatout does not ship outside of the USA, so if you need the part and they have it, you need to become creative in that department as well. If you are from outside the US, you could try posting a request on this forum to see if someone could help out in that regard.
