  1. Am a fairly new member here, and have greatly enjoyed my time. I had a 1987 venture royale that I bought a few months ago. Squidly wonderfully took time to help me put progressives in my forks, as well as adjust the breaks, clutch, and do a fluid change on both. It made the bike much more fun to ride. However, after riding it to and from work a few times, I had to admit to myself that the bike was not enjoyable to ride in Houston area traffic. I never could get comfortable riding it at rush hour speeds. I also realized that I just didn't have time to work on it like I wanted to, and that the bike was ending up being a garage queen. To make a long story short, I met a guy who wanted to trade his 2001 Honda Shadow ACE 750 for the venture. He was wanting a bigger bike for the road and has the time and space to work on it. So, I traded title for title. I am happy that I got a bike that will suite me well without going int debt. I pointed him to this site and hope he shows up. Also, I am not leaving this site. I will be hanging around. I am available to help any and all who need it (as much as I can), and would still love to ride with y'all any chance I can. I appreciate the family here and hope I can be as much of a help as everyone has been to me. My contact info will remain current should anyone need anything. JP
  2. Tried to order some diaphragms for my 87 this week from http://www.siriusconinc.com , but they won't have them in stock for another 5 weeks. Does anyone know where I can get the sd-1 diaphragms faster than that? If someone has a spare set lying around, I would gladly send money via PayPal in order to get them. I inspected one of mine and it has a few good size holes in it. I dread to see what the other ones look like. Thanks in advance. JP
  3. Congrats to you both! May you have many more miles together.
  4. Congrats to you both. May you have many more years to come. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
  5. Get with Skydoc on this clutch setup. His ad is Here I can personally vouch for Earl as a good vendor. He will bend over backwards to help you get what you need when you need it. He wont do you wrong. Msg him. JP
  6. The bike handled well. I was a lot more comfortable today as I'm getting used to the progressives and real air pressure in the tires (not the 20lbs that it did have). The brakes are also much much better. I feel much more confident with a good suspension as well. I was a bit sore this morning from all the up and down when working on the bike yesterday as well as from the change in handlebar positioning. However, that quickly went away when I got back on the bike. Took my son to breakfast on the bike this morning. He had a blast., as did I. I'm gonna ride the bike to work tomorrow and see if I can give it a good run too. She really wants to go fast. I have to be real aware of my speed. It seems like 70 is where it wants to cruise at right now.
  7. Took a s,mall ride this evening and had a wonderful time. I only rode for about 45 min, but it is nice to get back in the saddle and not have to worry about what time you have to be somewhere. I haven't owned a bike for 15 years. I had forgotten how nice it is to just cruise. BTW, Happy Father's day to all you dads out there! Hope you got some ride time in.
  8. So, Squidley and I got together yesterday to work on my bike. With alot of time and a large amount of patience with my lack of knowledge, Brad helped me to get progressives in the forks. We bled the clutch and all 3 brakes. We also did a little tweaking on the carbs, but that will have to be another day. I had a really fun ride home last night after the long day. I really appreciate the help I have received and the knowledge imparted to me. I still have to fix the rats nest of wires the PO left me, figure out the weirdness with the carbs (starting with new wires, plugs, coils, and diaphrams), fix some major plastics issues ( or find some replacement pieces), and ride the heck out of the bike. I must say, the progresives and the little bit of carb tweaking really made the bike fun to ride. I really cant wait to get the engine running perfectly. The bike is already scary fast. I must send out a thanks to Brad's wife. I appreciate the good supper she made for us. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
  9. I would be in for one as well.
  10. I want to go for a ride, and then have a fresh blueberry muffin (still warm from the oven) with a cup of good coffee. I also want to get a set of ratcheting box wrenches (which I have found to be invaluable).
  11. My wife just informed me that the progressive springs and seals have arrived! Thanks Earl for your awesome help in getting these to me so quickly!
  12. I will be working on it on Saturday with Squidley. He has ben gracious enough to offer his trailer, garage, tools, and time to get my bike fixed. I owe him big time. We will be putting new seals and progressive springs in the forks, as well as getting the Class system fixed (hopefully) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
  13. Thanks for posting. I realized that the bike I just bought has most of those accessories.
  14. Yup. Shure did. Earl is shipping them out priority for me, so I should have em by Friday.
