  1. Great storey - and I like Earl's comments too!
  2. Sounds like a fabulous trip Jay. My wife and I made our first (much shorter - two day) trip hauling a trailer behind my 88VR last week. Like many others have said, I was surprised how well it tracked even in strong winds and I liked having less weight in the trunk and bags. In my case, the only thing I noticed other than slower braking was the reduced rigidity in my front end. I wonder if this is where Condor's stronger fork braces really pay off. Any comments from others?
  3. Sounds like a good add-on and birthday present Bob. Congrats to you!
  4. Like others have noted, there are definitely more deer on the roads in my area. We have spend a bunch of the summer near North Bay (northern Ontario) and the amount of deer that we see on and along the roads in this area is scary. It may be a silly question, but is avoidance just a matter of good lights and slower speed, or are there other riding tips to reduce the risk of "deer damage"?
  5. Could have used some of your rain here in Ontario today Rick. Rode all day (south from Timmins) in record heat wave.
  6. These type of trips often turn out to be the best. Enjoy each day and bring back great memories!
  7. Hey Rocket - Sure looks like a nice job and a nice colour. Good luck with the deer!
  8. Man that kind of accident just makes you angry, and even more so when a wife and kids are suddenlly without a husband and father. Thoughts and prayers sent.
  9. Good luck Don and as been said by so many already, our prayers are with you.
  10. Great. However, I am still not sure if you can handle deliveries to Canada and what the s&h charge would be. Can you let us know?
  11. For those interested, there was a front page article in Saturday's Toronto Star about the Port Dover "Friday the 13th" rally. It talks about this event every Friday the 13th starting in 1981 with 50,000 bikes attending this year. Apparently, the Port Dover event is becoming know as "the Sturgis of the north". The next Friday the 13th comes around next May.
  12. I hear you Brad, but in my case, I have already installed a PIAA bulb and have been disappointed with the result - its not that much better and I still want more light at night. If I read right in the posts, this group buy would be from a US supplier. If so, it would be good to hear if the US supplier's product has a better track record.
  13. Hey Ben. Unlike the other members giving you good advice, I can't give you any first hand experience on riding there but if it is not too hot, I know there are several places that rent out Wings, HD's, BMW's etc. If you do ride, another place to consider (it amazed me) was SW Utah - Zion or Bryce. I think Dogman camped in Zion on his trip. Anyway, have a great time.
  14. I am also interested, but had assumed you were sourcing from Canada. Any idea on shipping costs to us here in Canada - same as quoted or more?
  15. Rode back from North Bay today but couldn't make it back in time for the ride. Hopefully I can make it one of these weeks.
  16. JB - I want you to know that not only was your product first rate, the way you treated me when I purchased your cables was appreciated very much. Glad to see you are back and I hope you are back in the saddle with two good arms real soon.
  17. Did similar work (except for the zerks) on my 88VR at MD. It took a days ride but I sure like the E3's now. Also, my drive shaft spline was dry and after I greased it, it seems to slide into neutral much easier when I am stopped.
  18. Based on my own experience, if it is just the headlight (and dash light) and your signals etc still work, it is likely to be the contacts alongside the starter switch contacts. It is surprising how fouled these contacts can get over time even though they are not exposed. There is a detailed description of the fix with excellent pictures in the technical section.
  19. I tried Walmart here in Ontario without luck but like Wade (Old&slow) says, Canadian Tire carries these in Canada. I found that the pad was wider at the front than the seat on my 88VR so that it had the effect of making it a bit awkward to touch the ground with my feet and use my front pegs. However, it is easy to remove the inside pad and trim it with scissors to fit the top shape of your seat --- and yes, I can definitely can ride more miles in comfort with the pad in place and it is not as hot in the sun. However, I would say that overall, it is good but not great for comfort. Evan
  20. Amazing video Randy, which can be advanced to see how the street fills up with bikes. I understand that the local residents must get a permit to allow them to drive in town during this motorycle event.
  21. I've seen the smile on Charlie's face after he left me behind on his FJR like I was sitting still (and I was actually doing almost 60mph). Problem is a new law here in Ontario allows the police to take his bike and his licence for doing 30mph+ over the speed limit. Good luck Charlie!!!
  22. Gary, I have enjoyed every pic and read every post since you began on June 7. Thanks for those. Glad to hear that Mary is feeling better and back in the saddle. Hope the rest of your ride as you head east brings more good memories for you and Mary.
  23. Looks like a good ride Steve.
  24. I should add that I sure enjoyed Charlie's visit. He's a real northern gentleman (from Sudbury Ontario), and he takes great pictures!
  25. Like MasterGun says, it's not unusual for a whole family to load onto small bikes or scooters in some parts of the world. My wife brought me some pictures from India that also amazed me. It could be?
