Good luck Andrew with all of your repairs, including your thumb. Hope your riding season next year helps put a smile back on your face.

Kent - from my perspective, your efforts to help people like me is valued, with or without "tact".

Cruise Control Failure?
Evan replied to Evan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
While I am embarrassed to so so, I am updating this thread because my experience might help someone else. Turns out that my only problem was a burned out green "power on" light bulb. My cruise still works just fine. Wouldn't it be nice if other fixed were that easy! -
Used to work for a company that tried to promote the use of compressed natural gas in vehicles so I had several vehicles equipped to run on that. It was only about 10% less fuel efficient but what a noticeable reduction in power and mileage performance.

We have cable at home and a dish at the cottage where we were happy with an old fashioned antenna but my son it law who is a teckie wanted a dish and helped us get one). I like the cable service much better.

My Sincere Apology to the members who made the effort to see me

Charlie - at least my ride to Kitchener was a good one, as was the meal and the company! -
Greener (Bob Green) and I met this couple this summer at the Biker's Reunion in New Liskeard. They were a wonderful couple from Ontario who are retired and do an amazing amount of touring. She seems to enjoy the two up touring as much as he does.

CHAAAARLIE: Where were youuuuu????? -
Hey Gene - Hope you are feeling better and most important, you never need to make another trip to the ER for more morphine. I remember, in my case, they refused to deal with me for almost an hour at the ER triage even though I threatened to lay down in the middle of the ER waiting room floor because of pain. Then, there was a miscommunication with a good nurse who helped treat me with my morphine. I thought she was talking about my pain level and she though I was talking about my p-nis when I signaled to her that it was "very little". We had a good laugh despite my pain.

I will see you good guys there! Anyone else from the Totonto area interested in coming along? -

--- don't you feel lucky Ben?

Bob, interesting comments from others. I have used one for several years in my cottage, although I don't tell anyone because they are not approved here in Ontario. I hook it up to a propane tank. I understand that they are very popular in other parts of the world and I was also told that they are legal in some but not all states. Mine is a 20,000 btu unit with a built in carbon monoxide detector, a good thermostat and fan that can be set on, off or in an auto mode. From my experience, there isn't another heater made that can match it for heat performance and I have had no problems at all. However, I would never use it in a newer building that was airtight and it does result in some minor odor and smut, although it is barely noticeable.

Hey Charlie - Remember that we have an extra bed here in TO. We are tied up from Sunday on but might be able to connect Friday or Sat. Heading your direction on Tues, but must cage it. Anyway, drop by on your way home if you want to. PS - I just went to a funeral (my cousin's son) last week. He was in training for his 10th ironman competition and nobody knew he had a heart problem. -
Steve, you have many good ideas now and I am not suggesting my option is as good as many of these. My option which was how my bike was wired when I bought it is simple and it works surprisingly well for me (now that I have acquired a trailer). My 6 wire connector hangs down about 6 inches between my left saddlebag and my fender. If I want to, I can sort of retract it so it is out of sight.

Don, regarding the classifieds, I sure value this feature and check them often. More important, I sure like the way you think and even more, I value the way you take care of this site. In fact, your work and results amaze me. Finally, I think your changes are good.

Good for you Ken - and like you, I enjoy my 88VR so much (partly because of this forum and the members) that I also am looking for a second one. I'm putting on lots of miles and right now, there is no other (affordable) bike that I would rather own.

Subject to weather, it looks like Anne and I can also make your new date Bob. For me, it will be a great way to celebrate our anniversary, which is on that day. Lets hope for good weather.

Don, you are a class act and I consider it a real privilege to get to know you and participate in this forum which you created. I'm also reminded of the old adage that it is not whether you have challenges but rather how you handle them, which you seem to be doing so well. Thanks for the update and take care of yourself.

This may seem mickey mouse, but I sure like how it works. I purchased two items at a dollar store that had plastic "hooks" attached, as shown in the pictures. As you can see, I hung the hooks on the existing helmet holders on my 88VR. While they obviously don't lock, they sure make it easier to hang my helmets there.

Today, I tried to use my cruise control, which normally works well. The set and resume lights lit up and then went out almost immediately. The on light did not come on. When I pushed the black power button again, none of the lights lit up. Every second time I pushed the black button, the same two lights (set and resume) would come on for just a second and then go out. Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

Hey Jack, tomorrow's another day. Maybe its time to go sailing?

Beer, your story is gut wrenching and I'm glad you had this place to "let it out" a bit. Like others have said, your actions spoke loudly. Your story reminds me of a personal experience. I wanted to console a friend who lost his beautiful teenage daughter to a reckless driver. I told him that I couldn't find the right words. He said that just being there mattered more than words to him.
