  5. I contacted this morning the Yamaha dealer, for a price quote for changing the brake and clutch fluid. they told me it will take up to 2 hours to change the fluids ...is this correct ? I thought always you can do that in 1 hour? They quoted my 120 dollars labor and 20 dollars for the fluids.
  6. All, I installed a new set of driving lighhts on my 85 and have been told I should have used a relay, Where could I find the correct relay and am looking for ideas of where to mount one if I need one. Thanks
  7. This seems to be the correct forum to post this request. (If not, I apologise - so just respond, okay?) Seriously though folks, I have fitted a Voyager outfit to my 2004 RSV and now need to hook up the additional lights fitted thereto. The Voyager is obviously wired up, with a 7-pin flat plug and I have acquired the matching socket and cable to wire in to the bike. I've been told by other 'Voyagers' that the best place to do so is just aft of the battery. I would assume that would be correct, and I would just use normal 1-into-2 splicing connectors? I'm okay with doing it myself, having dabbled in auto wiring (and house wiring) for many years. The other option is to go to the harness and connectors beneath the tail light - the ones all curled up under the number plate bracket. Any clues, ideas, opinions and/or advice please? Thanks for your collective time. I know it's valuable.
  8. Maybe this has been around for a long time? ( the bolt on the bottom of the filter) [ame=http://www.amazon.com/KN-204-Motorcycle-Powersports-Performance-Filter/dp/B000E2CVI8/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_i]Amazon.com: K&N KN-204 Motorcycle/Powersports High Performance Oil Filter: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Q8P2EBL7L.@@AMEPARAM@@41Q8P2EBL7L[/ame] I just think it is a great idea.. this above link might not be the correct filter for your bike.. I just had to show these K&N's Jeff
  9. Found this sample Citizenship Test today. Mighty interesting and not as easy as you might think. The 96 question multiple choice takes a few minutes. The correct answer to each is displayed immediately. http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2011/0104/Could-you-pass-a-US-citizenship-test/Who-signs-bills
  10. 11. Hey guys and gals, In the process of getting rid of my antennas, stereo has always sounded like crap, but wondering, what is the proper placement of them. If on the bike, stereo goes on right, correct. Going to the coiled copper wire in the trunk method.

  13. Hi all, We have just purchased a 1988 Venture. We are without a workshop manual at the moment. A couple of the light bulbs on the rear of the trunk are burned out. Can someone tell me please how to access them? Further am I correct that a Haynes type manual was never published? Thanks, Trevor & Janet Casa Grande, AZ
  14. So I've read some of the repair methods/suggestions...if I understand correctly, these parts are made of ABS?? If that's correct, can I use ABS pipe material (used in plumbing) as "filler"?
  15. Need some advice. I just replaced my tired Kenwood analog tuner with a not so tired Pioneer digital. When I try to listen to AM signals I get a hum... or I guess feedback... in the speakers, when I go to FM it sounds fine. I've checked the +/- continuity for the speakers and they are correct. I'm no expert when it comes to messing with audio stuff, so anyone a lot smarter than me have any ideas what might cause the AM hum??
  16. I have an 05 venture. When I set the clock to the correct time and turn the ignition switch off the clock resets to 1:00. It has never done this before. Any suggestions how to correct this? Thanks,
  17. anyone know what brick an morter store carrys speedbleeders? I want to bleed them today and im alone and if sb8125L is correct for 83 venture.
  18. I am rebuilding a '92 Venture that needs a bit of work and one of the things I need is new set of dust seals (rubber boots) that sit on the top of the lower front fork tube. I went to the dealer and asked him to order me a set. I almost hit the floor when he told me the item was just over $100. The near heart attack came when he told me that was for just one. The part number is 3JJ-23191-00-00. The old ones on the bike are a small rubber boot that is about 2 inches tall with no clamps or fittings of any kind . However, the microfiche shows a large boot that resembles more the gaiters that were on the early British bikes. This didn't seem to make sense so I checked out the Yamaha web site and found that for 1986-89 there is a different picture and what appears to be the correct dust seal with part number 26H-23144-00-00 at $15.76 a piece. Now I am wondering if the information on the Yamaha site is correct. Did the 90-93 Ventures have a different boot? I do want to get the right part as the local dealer is unforgiving once the part is ordered. Thank you!
  19. I'm putting my 89 back together and I've had a slight case of brain fade. I'm not sure how the "special washer" underneath the center cover of the left side cover goes. I'm pretty sure just from looking at it that it goes in the way I show in the attached picture. Is this correct or do I have it backwards?? I've got it in so that the raised lip on the center opening is 'out'. Frank

    CB Mic help.

Just picked up a Astatic 636L noise canceling hand held mic. This mic is 4 pin so I also got the 5 pin din adaptor to go with it. Well, I tried it out and all I get is feed back through the mic. I have an older sears 5 pin that work sso the problems has to be in the wiring in the mic, I think? Does any one know what I need to do to correct the problem?

  24. If the bike isn't ridden for a couple of days one of the valves makes alot of noise, it will clear up after being ridden for awhile, I was told at the KAW shop that this was normal because since they are hydraulic, it leaks down. Would someone please tell me if he is correct. My warranty expires in Mar. and would like to have the problem taken care of, my pockets aren't that deep. Thanks and ride safe Truckin48
  25. I am thinking about changing out some key components of my bike. The first area will be the air filters. I want to go with separate filters for each carb. After some research I have come up with a K&N part number of RU-2989. Is this the correct PN for the four separate filters? Of course the next question will be what jets to use to keep the A/F ratio correct? Followed by replacing the resonator/collector with the Mark's Pipe component and free flowing mufflers. Thoughts welcome.
