Like you, AmeriCuban, I bought a first gen Royale (last year). I see you are a trial member. Well, welcome to the site and I strongly recommend becoming a supporting member. The people like MiCarl are amazing and as you can see, the info and help that is available from members will help keep you out of the dealer's shop and give you much more confidence related to keeping you bike in good running condition for many years. These bikes offer many miles of great riding.

FYI - After checking around a bit, the best price I found for Dunlop Elite 3's here in Ontario was $139 all in for a rear tire (MU90B16) from Matt at MC Impacts. For the month of April, he is selling tires with tax included.

Now Offering DEKA AGM Batteries for 1st and 2nd Gens!
Evan replied to skydoc_17's topic in Watering Hole
Just installed a Deka gel battery in my 88VR. What a difference it has made for starts. For Canadians, I think the USPS shipping fee from Florida was just over $30.00. -
Gary - Your bike looks like it was sweet and clean before the fall. I can only imagine how much that spoiled your day and much more. Good luck on restoring it to a condition that makes you want to smile again when you look at it.

I have tried to read every thread related to this. Several members have said that it is possible to repack these bearings without removing the fairing. Any description or tips on how to do this would be very much appreciated. Thanks

While I am sure not an expert in this area, I can comment on my own experience. Based on advice from other members, I bought J&M headsets and installed them in our helmets. You need to get the model designed for open vs closed faced helmets, depending on what you have. Sound quality is quite good (not great for those who like quality music). They were extremely easy to install in our helmets and can be removed just as easily. With the intercom capability, my wife and I both enjoy our rides much more with these headsets.

My letter from the Oberlin Inn took a bit longer to arrive but that it did. Beverly gave me the $62.95 rate for the Comfort Inn when I mentioned I was with the VentureRider group. These rooms are cancellable untill 4:00 the day of and this rate includes breakfast and wireless service.

Interesting comments. I sure learn a bunch from this site.

There have been so many good reports on the Deka ETX18L battery for my 88VR that I have searched for retailers here in Ontario with little success. One local supplier can get me one but at almost twice the US price. So, I just got off phone with Bohannon Battery Distributor in Florida who are willing to ship to me here in Ontario. Is there any reason why I should be leery of Bohannon or shipping a battery to Canada? Any advice appreciated!

Here in Ontario, I have only found Seafoam in some auto supply stores. I have checked TSC, Walmart and CTC and unlike some areas in the US, none have Seafoam here. The cost is about $12 per can.

Based on all the other posts, I guess I am the oddball as I was annoyed at the red gas light on my 88VR coming on with over a gallon of gas left in the tank so I bent the gas tank float arm so it doesn't light up so soon.

Exactly the same comments, although I understand the full face helmet is the safest. With my open face/face shield helmet, the shield can be easily removed or changed, so I plan on getting a few additional shields, including a tinted one which I will carry with me.

My first bike (after riding a Diamler scooter for almost a year) was a 63 Honda 90. After that, I remember owning: - a 65 305 Honda Dream - a 68 650 Triumph (which I sold when I got married and have regretted ever since) - a Vespa 150 (a deal from my cousin) - a 70's Suzuki Titan 500 - a 70's KZ 650 kawasaki (which I liked very much and kept for about 20 years) - a mid 80's Gold Wing - a Suzuki 100 and a Honda 250 Custom (which I bought for my daughters) - a 400 kawasaki (another deal) - a 90's Honda Magna - a 90 Pacific Coast - my current 88VR

Toronto to Las Vegas July 3 to 25th any route suggestions or sights
Evan replied to dogman's topic in Watering Hole
Hey Dave - You ride sounds fabulous and I am really impressed with the info and offers from others. Anne just agreed to join me for a ride to the west although in our case, we need to go by way of Calgary to spend some time with my daughter and grandkids. I am looking for a trailer for this trip, but probably not a tent trailer. How much does your new trailer weigh? Also, are you on the road yet? I have been riding quite a bit lately and expect to be back on Tuesday from a quick trip to the cottage for some snowmobiling. I hope to do some more riding when I get back as the weather should still be warm enough for that. -
Another Center Stand Question
Evan replied to elmicko's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I am amazed by the range of what works best for others and that part of what makes this forum so interesting and educational to me. For over 45 years now, I have found that what works best for me is to straddle the bike, put down the side stand, and use the handle bars to rock the bike off the centre stand while holding the front brake lever to prevent the bike from rolling foreword. Every time I try to do take the bike off the centre stand from the side, I feel like I can't control the bike and keep it upright nearly as well. -

After these posts, I checked again with the nearest Walmart superstore and TSC store here in Ontario. Neither sell Seafoam. Best price I have found is almost $13.00/can at an auto parts store. Would be interested if anyone in Ontario has found a better priced supply.

Amazing bikes. Thanks for providing pictures. I remember the Waterbuffalo well. Never owned one myself but I did own a Titan for quite a while until I tough my sister how to ride and gave it to her.

It may be impossible to compare directly, but without collision, I am paying just over $400 for my 88VR through the Economical Insurance Group. This amount is after a 15% age discount (one of the advantages of getting old) and a 20% multi-vehicle discount. I think the purchase price is one of the key factors affecting this rate.

Lost All My Power On The Dash Of My 86
Evan replied to 86er's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks Gary. You guys are amazing. Your comment makes sense to me because coincidentally, I think my headlight problem happened each time after my start switch stuck in the start position. -
Center Stand
Evan replied to SC89Venture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This sure sounds like a great mod with good pictures to boot. I don't see any downside. Think I will try to buy a second centre to do the same. While I haven't looked, I assume it is easy to change the centre stands on my 1st gen. -
Lost All My Power On The Dash Of My 86
Evan replied to 86er's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I recently have had a electrical problem affecting my headlight. For no obvious reason, I lost power to the dash light and headlight only. Signals and all other lights such as neutral indicator were not affected. the problem has happened twice and both times, the lights started working again on their own. The first time, I checked out all fuses and had power out of the fuse panel. Does anybody have any ideas on where my problem is likely to be?
