At the Toronto International Bike Show today, I saw an 05 RSV with a Voyageur trike kit. It was in amazing condition, with only 1750 miles on it. I talked with the current owner who said it was owned by the proverbial "little old lady who had health problems". Apparently, her husband had the identical bike/trike. The owner is asking $13,500 obo. Don't know whether that is a good price (especially here in Canada as new RSV's are over $20,000 at the show. Also don't know whether these trike kits work well. Apparently it is easily removable so the RSV can be rode with or without it or it could be sold if there is a market for these. Interested in opinions on these kits as well as the price. Also, I have the guys contact info if others are interested. I have tried to attach some pics.

While there was snow on the ground, we had dry roads and above freezing temps here in Toronto today. My VR is parked in a heated garage so I couldn't resist. It fired up without a problem and I went for a two hour run. It felt great.

You guys are getting me excited. After some colder weather, the forecast here in Toronto is for above freezing weather tomorrow and Friday - around 36, and the roads should be clean. I plan on riding a bit before I head to my cottage for a snow run on my Yamaha Venture snowmobile.

Like others, Mark, I wish you a journey that you can look back on and feel that it was good for you and your family. Remember that even though many of us have not met in person, we care and our best wishes are sincere.

Like Ben, I also miss country music on the radio her in sw Ontario. Guess I have to ask Wayne or others how to link my MP3 player through my 88VR sound system so I can hear this good music (through my J&M headset) that I especially love to hear when I am riding.

This is a great question and thread. Like many others, I check in at least twice a day unless I am away. For me, this is the first time I have ever done that (other than checking me w-mail), which says something special about the site and the people. I have also found that I recommend this site to other bikers that I meet.

There is also a major show a few weeks later in Toronto. It is advertised as the largest North American Motorcycle Show and the show dates are Jan 15 to 17. More show info is at http://www.supershowevents.com/super/index.html.

Peg Lowers for 1987 Yamaha XVZ13DTC VENTURE
Evan replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Bob - I appreciate that very much. Sorry I wasn't able to join you and others in Kitchener recently. However, I do hope to see you sometime with Scott or others before next spring. I can do some limited work in our condo indoor parking area through the winter, so I may be able to have them installed in time for spring rides. In the meantime, best wishes to you and Becky.- 6 replies

speedometer question
Evan replied to mother's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Scott - While I don't know for sure, I think the same as Gary. In fact, I have seen vehicles with both miles and kms on the speedo dial, so you could read whatever scale you preferred and, for example, 100km/hr was at the same point on the speedo scale as 62 mph. -

Is it only the Mk1 (83 to 85) pegs that are adjustable? This is something I would also like to consider for my 88VR.- 6 replies

A guy in Chatham, Ontario where I used to live had several of these and would tell me stories about their history. If I recall from his stories, they might have become the "peoples car" in Germany except for other circumstances. In any event, I sometimes followed him on some local rides on my motorcycle. It was amazing to see how nimble and quick they were.

Saddlebum and I seem to have more than just a maroon VR in common. Like him, I go for behind rather than over the top and also like him, my wife is the opposite. I am amazed by how strongly she feels about this. I usually mount the roll my way (because that is the way I was raised) but let it go when she immediately changes it to over the top.

I still try to find an excuse to ride almost every day, even if is just to the store (or to visit Mother). Did an 800 km run a week ago in cool weather to look at another VR. Here in Toronto, our weather is somewhat moderated by Lake Ontario, although we normally start to get some snow in November. I am lucky to have heated underground parking so unlike most others in this area, I don't have to winterize and store my bike for the winter. Instead, I look foreword to those unusually warm days (above freezing) throughout the winter and go for a run if the roads are dry. Except for last winter, I have been able to ride at least once each month of the winter.

Yes, it is a great forum for all the reasons stated so well by others. Also, I find that it leaves me with the desire to meet and get to know other members and to look for ways to help others.

While I don't know any details, I recently met a GW owner who had purchased and installed a small device that detects black ice and gives an alarm when any black ice is detected. He claimed that it works.

My comment is similar to many others. I have been riding now for 45 years. So far, no accident. However, I have had a number of close calls. Every time that has happened, I think about the circumstances that led to the close call and invariably, I got sloppy one way or another with my defencive driving. Just last week, I rode to Mother's and was late returning home - had two close calls because I was preoccupied with a bike problem and being late for dinner rather than focusing on defencive driving.

I am seriously considering buying a 2nd VR. This one is an 86 model that needs a bit of work, but has low mileage. One issue is the left side muffler. The owner told me that there is a problem which he suggested could be caused by a restriction such as a mouse nest. When I looked at the bike, the muffler was noticeably blue from overheating. Any thoughts on likely causes and related fixes?

Bought my 88VR this April. Now have 123,500kms. Sure like it.

little green connector??

I am also interested in these posts. I have what my wife calls a "typing pool" noise in my intercom system. It is not so bad that we can't talk through our headsets, but it is noticeable when when listening to the radio or using the intercom when my intercom is turned on. I am using Yamaha's recommended spark plugs. Marcarl helped reduce the noise by relocating some wires to reduce interference. Any suggestions to eliminate this annoyance?- 17 replies

You have already got lots of good advice. What may not be clear is that the sensor is like a plug that fits snugly into a hole in the battery casing with an inch long prong that dips into the acid unless the acid level is too low, in which case the battery light comes on. Same happens obviously if the sensor is removed by simply pulling it out of the battery, which you can do.

Unlike many members, I didn't start early with dirt or mini bikes. However, I was riding my bicycle 22 miles a day every day of the summer before I turned 16 in order to hang out at a riding stable (I was definiiey "horse crazy"). So, bought my first bike at age 15 in 1962 and rode it close to home until the day I turned 16. Though my passion for horses has subsided and it has been many years since I owned them, I have never been without at least one motorcycle since then.
