  1. Today I rolled over my first 1k on my RSTD! Yea!
  2. Since the storms rolled through the Dallas area?
  3. Just rolled 100,000 on the Hondapotamus today. Starting to match the mileage on my R60 (132K) and R100RT (123K). Great bike, GF's favorite. The guy I sold my 87 Venture to has rolled it to 90K. Getting our money's worth for sure.

    Biker Down

Son had a bad crash yesterday evening. Went down avoiding the rearend of a SUV. Chose the grassy medium instead of the rear bumper of the SUV. Messed up his Road Star and caused him to have a broken knee cap and fracture rib. Probably will need surgery to correct his knee injury. Bike probably a total. Could have been worse had he not been wearing the proper protective gear. Said he was not speeding and he rolled after impacting the ground like a ball. Glad he's alive! Prayer would be greatly appreciated for his full recovery. He's a great son!
  5. Wouldn't have it any other way. Thats a new slang phrase I been using lately when sh## never goes right. Just checking in to say Hi and were doing OK. The bike is still setting covered up all year No time to ride and Ramona's back injury still has her practically unemployed. She has been off since June 1st. The latest news is her brand new car just got hit in a local business parking lot. The guy lost control of his new chevy silverado 2011 model, clipped a phone pole, then rolled in the lot and took her suv out. Good news was she was not in the vehicle. Bad news was he has NO INSURANCE. Just another day in WILD AND DANGEROUS WEST VIRGINIA. I hope to get on here more often. Maybe winter will slow things down a little.
  6. A bit of a surprise for me,,, I couldn't believe what rolled into and then out of my driveway,,, it took me a minute,,,ya
  7. Am in Moline,Illinois at the motel 6 right off of 74/280.... Gonna trailer it the whole way as its hotter than hades out there 105 to 115! Rolled the window down and damn it was HOT! Didn't do that again...LOL
  8. Two weeks ago before we got all of our snow I rolled my 83 xvz12 in the house to do a little maintence. I fixed some of the plastics, changed the plugs, fixed the radio and that was it. Rolled it outside and now I have an exhaust leak. I know it is on the back bank, not sure where. Cannot feel any exhaust nor can I see any carbon deposit. How hard is the exhaust to take off for inspection? ANyody ever have anything like this happpen to them? Ideas suggestions. I have a friend who is going to let me roll it in his shop and put it on a lift to work on. Thanks in advance for your help. Dr. Psycho
  9. So there I wuz on Satiddy scooting my way over to Squid's in Conroe,Texas.....Rolling through Sour Lake Texas when all H*LL broke loose on the bike! The darn pygmies had spotted the Dairy Queen and wanted ice cream. Being in a hurry to get to Squid's I was forced to stop and beat the little runts back into the saddlebags..... One of em got away and I saw him leap right through the DQ Service window....when the wimmen in there started screaming I rolled on the throttle and got the heck out of there. Boomer....who sez the friendship and hospitality of Squid and Lonna:bighug: is well worth the price of losing a pygmie or two.
  10. I'm thankful for many things. I could write a book here about all that I have to be thankful for but I'll spare you all because to be honest, much of it would be the same things that you are all thankful for. So, to keep it relevant to VentureRider.org, I'll just say that I'm thankful to each and every single one of you. Even you troublemakers who may not see things 100% the same way that I do, you are still an important and loved part of the family here and if we all agreed on everything, it would get pretty mundane around here. So here's wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you all get to eat so much that you have to be rolled to bed. Let's also remember those in the world who have little to eat and say a special prayer for them and for our men and women in uniform who are serving and away from their families to make this day possible for all of us.
  11. I have a 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale with about 40000 miles on it. On a recent trip I noticed when I was in 4th or 5th gear and rolled on the throttle at highway speed the bike felt as though it slipped before takeing off. Any ideas of the cause?
  12. I took Brown Sugar out for a while today and as I was going down river road a Hardley came up behind me. I was just taking it easy and loafing along in 5th gear. I heard the Hardley drop it a few gears and really crack it. Thats a lot of noise!!! Didn't intend to do anything about just let him go. He got up beside me looked over and grinned!! I swear I don't remember doing anything. I was running on cruise set at 50 mph!! Brown Sugar dropped to 3rd and the throttle rolled all the way back!! :whistling:When I got her under control and slowed down I stopped at a little store a few miles down the rode and a little later he pulled in. Rolled past me took a good look and on out the other side of the lot without speaking?? I think that bike has a mind of its own sometimes??
  13. Will camshafts out of an 83 fit in a 99? Are 83 camshafts the same as Vmax? Now that Ive rolled 100,000 miles on my 99, I'd like to add a little pick me up to it.
  14. ...and ate me a Mustang. I knew it would be easy, lol. We both started off kinda normal from the stop sign and I heard his motor wind up so I had to do the same thing, it was over as soon as it started. I was prolly 4 or 5 bike lengths ahead when I hit second. The kid started to make a u-turn and so did I. I started off up on the back wheel and rolled past him. He followed a bit but would not even up for another run, hahahaha. Wonder if he will do that again with an old bagger.
  15. Check tires!! I looked my Cub Cadet over but didn't pay much attention to tires. They had air in them. Guess one was lower than I thought. Made a couple laps and rolled it off the rim. Didn't know they made 1st gen mower in 09!!
  16. I dont know were to post this but have a question, I was leaving my parents lastnight and for some reason the last 30ft of there drive is gravel because they didnt want it all the way to road dont have a clue why but any way started to stop at the end and was marbels and the front tire rolled out from under me and I dropped it with my girl friend on the back, thank you crash bars no one was hurt. Any suggestions on how to ride on these so I dont do this again. Thanks for any advise
  17. Finally after being down for over a year I finally rolled the scoot out and took her for her first ride since she was wrecked in the accident last sumer when a guy run me of the road, and it felt GGGGGGRRREAT!!!! I was a little nervous at 1st not trusting any cage wthin 100 yards of me but it wasn't long and soon I felt right at home. I still have a few chrome pcs to put on but i have all winter for that. It was a little dishearting when I rolled out the scoot at the same time as my nieghbour rolled out his snow blower to get it ready for winter however, but I intend to make the most of the time we have left. I remembered the rule so here are the pics. i repaired all the fairings with plastex. the left one is actually made up of sections from my old one and part of a damaged used one welded together with plastex. then i sanded it all down and repainted everything. I must admit if one takes the time to look they will see the paint job is not perfect but since I am not a painter I cant complain. More importantly I am riding again :dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool:
