  1. Sounds like a good deal. Just look it over REAL good. If he will let you take it out where you can open it up and run it like you stole it. It seems that if there is any engine problems they will top out around 85 or so. I have had mine faster than that, but the beating my back took was nuts, never do that with a passenger. Most glitches with the MK1's are simple fixes. They did have two comon problems, frame failure where the rear shock mounts on and second gear popping out. Look for cracks around the section of the frame by the rear suspension and see how the shifting feels. If all that goes well then buy it. My only question is if he has had that many e-mails about it then why is it not sold? Shaun
  2. Well as long as your carbs are good I know where an engine is you can probably snipe for under $500. I can try to get some pics and more info if you want. Shaun
  3. Where is that 83 for $500 at? I have a friend that is looking for one and is very interested. Shaun
  4. Ok I have a very odd problem. It is not so much a problem as it is a nuisance. If I use the kil switch ti shut off the engine then when I want to start the bike up I have to 1) turn the switch to run 2) push the starter button 3) turn the kill switch off then on again and then start it. If I just flip it on then off then on again then I will be push starting. I have to try to start it before turning it of then back on. Any ideas? It is like some possessed anti theft or something. Shaun
  5. Hope things are working out for you there Don. Most of us here pretty much know how to get some help when we need it, with mobile web and all. So take your time we can wait. Shaun
  6. I am guilty of becoming very lax when it is as hot out as it has been. Like today I did not even grab my helmet when I went to work. I will not say it is ok by any means. This young woman is an example of how not to ride. Her story is powerful and her message clear. Drive smart and wear the gear. I love to ride, and love to live to ride again. I do not have a riding jacket, just an old leather coat. I have some good jeans that have Kevlar in them (leftover from working in a factory wear my job required them) and I always wear boots and gloves. As already stated she is very lucky, but maybe she is alive to spread the message of AGATT. And she is also very courageous showing publicly her scars and her story. A lot of people would only do so if there was an immediate benefit for themselves. My hat is off to her, and my helmet is on. Shaun
  7. So how many pigmies does it take to mess up a truck? Looks like boomer share. Hope it isn't something serious, Shaun
  8. Thanks. I may not get to ride it much right now, and may not have time to work on it a lot. But I think she will stay with me. Shaun
  9. I have been pondering selling my venture. My wife is back to the every once and a while employment and I have a couple bills that need caught up, my truck needs some work and I do not have the time to take care of it the way I should. I love the bike, but when it sits two weeks cause I do not have time to replace a burned out headlight bulb it makes me wonder. On the other hand I have gotten it to where it gets at least upper 30's for mpg, fixed the wobble, replaced the fuel pump (that is why it was getting hard to start) and done numerous other things to it. Nuw in all reality I do have a family to take care of, I love them more than the bike. So should I sell it? I am terrified that if I sell it it would end up in a parts dealers hands. Shaun
  10. Exactly. Does not matter who you are, the laws are there for a reason and should apply to anyone. There was an accident a couple years ago where a woman drunk off her but hit and killed a biker. She was not arrested and never charged, sighting a mental illness. Her response is that she was sorry and will try not to do it again. We notice more when a LEO does not get charged, but all walks of life get away with things. Shaun
  11. Oh krikies, no how am I going to get out of this one....
  12. Did you replace the fuel filter? Seems to me if it has to run on choke then it is not getting enough fuel. Check the simple things first, may save you a ton of work. Shaun
  13. No pictures of it, but the paint work is already peeling off so when it comes apart to redo the paint I will get pics. I have figured out that all the grease zerts I found were added by the PO, kinda nice having them but they are all in the wrong places as they do not do much good in getting grease where I need it. Until I can get new exhaust gaskets in it she is parked, finally blew the right rear out and it started to miss from time to time on that cylinder as well. Will have it repaired in no time, just have to get the parts. Shaun
  14. Hope nobody wants her old bike.:rotf:
  15. My insurance is going up this year. The only explanation is that it is the nation rates that are going up and everyone is getting the increase. I am looking into other insurance companies now. But all I have is basic and am still paying almost $300 a year. Shaun
  16. Been working on a 1976 Goldwing GL1000 and need a set of coils. If anyone has a set they are willing to part with please let me know. Thank You, Shaun
  17. 3. The chances of someone with a Canadian license plate having a weapon is pretty slim. With this in mind he was not to worried about dodging a bullet, plus the guy had his kid in the car with him. Nothing like getting your but chewed out in front of your kids.
  18. Something like that causes both nerve and bone pain, you must be 1 tough cookie to stand it this long. Hope all goes well and you recover quickly. Shaun
  19. Thank You. I tried it and a phone rang so I just guessed that it worked. Shaun
  20. Some knew about the red light on cars, but not the 112. It was about 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend. An UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put his lights on. Lauren's parents have always told her never to pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road, but rather to wait until they get to a gas station, etc. Lauren had actually listened to her parents advice, and promptly called 112 on her cell phone to tell the police dispatcher that she would not pull over right away. She proceeded to tell the dispatcher that there was an unmarked police car with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her. The dispatcher checked to see if there were police cars where she was and there weren't, and he told her to keep driving, remain calm and that he had back up already on the way. Ten minutes later 4 cop cars surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her. One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car behind. They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the ground. The man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes. I never knew about the 112 Cell Phone Feature, but especially for a woman alone in a car, you should not pull over for an unmarked car. Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going to a safe place. *Speaking to a service representative at Bell Mobility confirmed that 112 was a direct link to State trooper info. So, now it's your turn to let your friends know about 112. You may want to Send this to every woman (and man) you know; it may save a life. I will make sure my kids all have this and know how to use it. Shaun
