  1. I have a ride on lawn mower in the backyard that I have been thinking of making into a go kart. I don't know the first thing about go karts but I would like to turn this into a father son project. I would like to start a photo album of the build. keeping track of what I spend and materials I use. I need help does anyone have any ideas.? since it is a mowee its it's pretty high I would like to lower the seating position but then will have to change the steering amgle.I will attach a photo when I get home . any ideas or links to website will be helpful
  2. I did not wash it with my clothes, I ran over it with my lawn mower. I was trying to get my front yard done before it got too dark and some how my cell phone came out of my pocket and I ran over it with the riding mower. Not too good as it went everywhere. So, I guess I will look for another Verizon phone and I just like a basic flip phone with a camera. Don't need all that other stuff. RandyA

  4. I saw this in the local paper and thought of you Don. Please only use the weed eater by the pond from now on. Muffin say only the gas weed eater, no electric. N.C. man dies after lawn mower pins him in pond The Associated Press © August 31, 2010 CLEVELAND, N.C. A North Carolina man has died after a riding lawn mower pinned him underwater for almost half an hour. The Salisbury Post reported 53-year-old Genovevo Garcia of Cleveland drowned Monday at a farm where he was mowing grass along the edge of a pond. Farm owner Bill Russell says the mower tipped over and rolled into the water on top of Garcia. Russell says he saw Garcia fall into the pond and drove his four-wheeler over to the water to help. But he couldn't move the mower. Firefighters used a pulley system made of Russell's four-wheeler, a rope and a nearby tree to remove the mower. Garcia was pronounced dead at Davis Regional Medical Center in Statesville. Margaret
  5. What a great weekend. I love it when a plan comes together. Next weeked our 16 day rifle season opens and I had a butt load of things I had to do and some things I wanted to do. Everything went well including changing from the mower on my JD to the snow blower. Last year not so. I had to clean up my DR leaf and lawn vacuum and put that away plus clean the mower deck and the mower. Also wanted to get in some fall turkey hunting as it was the last two days and yesterday I killed a nice 13.5 lb Jake and it was the best eating bird I ever had and I've shot about 40 birds since they opened it up here. After a great dinner I went on a nice ride as the weather was great for this time of year up here. All and all the weekend couldn't have been any better. I just hope next weekend in a good one.

    Sea-Foam for Lawn Mower

From the various comments on maintaing the fuel systems on our bikes, you guys make Sea-Foam seem like the 'Hadicol' (sp) of the 50s. If it is that great, have you ever used it to clean out your lawn mower (push type, not riding) in the spring time?
  7. OK....we have people here that know something about a lot of things so decided to see if there are any lawn mower experts. The mower is a Snapper zero turn. It uses Hydro-Gear pumps and motors for the drive. It is not an integrated transmission. There are two Hydro-Gear pumps, one for each side. The Hydro motors and not integrated into the pumps. There are hoses that go from the pumps to the motors. I was mowing a couple of weeks ago when suddenly the left lever seemed to lose pressure. It still works and I can use it but while you feel decent pressure on the right lever when you move it forward and backwards, the left lever has almost no feedback/pressure. It is also slow to respond. The left wheel does work in forward and reverse but doesn't seem to have much torque. On a long straight run, the steering seems to work OK but if I am turning on a hill or something, the left doesn't seem to have near enough torque. So far all I've done is change the Hydro filter and tried bleeding the system. Nothing has made any difference. Does it sound like a bad Hydro pump or the Hydro motor? Running or not running, the right side seems to have pressure when you move it back and forth but the left side has almost no resistance to moving. Also, whether it be the pump or the motor, can they be repaired? I tried looking up parts and/or exploded diagrams on line but all I've found is the complete units at about $450.00 each.
  8. So, you guys are pretty knowledgeable, i thought i would ask here. if this is too far off topic, feel free to delete it, and i appoligize in advance. I got a free john deere sx95 mower, with a 38'' deck. the problem i have is, the PO took it apart for some unknown reason because it didn't run. well, it didn't run because he didn't have some connectors actually.. you know.. connected. so anyhow. the problem is, I don't know how to route the new belt i have. it's on there how it seems to need to be, but the tensioner isn't functioning properly or something, because it's not tight enough. i've looked at JDparts.com but the overall setup is still sort of vague. I was hoping somone here might have this mower that would be willing to take a pic if the tensoner(s) setup? i would be eternally grateful. thanks in advance. - Jared
