  1. That is nuts. Makes you wonder if people drive down the road with their eyes closed and the radio blasting. Sure hope he recovers quickly. Shaun
  2. I hit a deer in 93. I was on a Suzuki gs550l. Spent 2 days in the hospital and within a week had the bike fixed and was riding again. Now I ride bigger bikes, better chances for me to keep it up. What brand of armored fairing do you use? Think I may want one. Shaun
  3. Very nice Annie. If you make it over toward Iowa I would enjoy meeting up and checking out your ride. Enjoy the ride. Shaun
  4. The flag is one of those things I notice right off the bat. When I looked at this one it just hit me as being wrong. I talked to the manager and he had said there was a lot of discussion about it but nobody was sure how it was supposed to be. I bit my tongue as I was there to get a job but they are right across from the Military services center, you would think that someone could have walked over and asked. My other bitter pet peeve is seeing a flag flying at night without a light. Shaun
  5. Thank You, Shaun
  6. When hanging an American Flag horizontal what is the proper manner for it to hang? I just started a new job and this is the first thing I notice when I walk in. The stars are on the south side of the flag, just looks wrong to me. Also the Iowa Flag is on the south side so if they were to be turned so they are hanging like on a pole then either the Iowa flag or the American flag will be upside down, yes they face opposite directions. Now the Manager is willing to change but I have to show some proof that they are hanging wrong. I can get a picture when I go in tomorrow. Thank You, Shaun
  7. Grab a meter and check the power to the distributor. Sounds like you may have a fusible link that is bad, when it warms up it opens and breaks the circuit. Another possible is a bad emergency kill switch, had a boat get me with one of those. If it were me here is what I would do to start tracking down things and getting her going: Drain all fluids and flush systems Grab a timing light and hook it up just to check ignition (will at least let you know for sure if it is an electrical or fuel problem) I am leaning toward electrical myself check all fuses, replace any that look old and worn That should get you off to a good start. Let us know how it goes. Shaun
  8. Well on a plus side he probably had no idea you hollered through the window. But if your wife is like mine it would have been one of the first things she would decide to share with him. So, hmmm, I would have still stopped. Good excuse for ice cream. Shaun
  9. Well I am only getting 28 to 33 out of my 83. I cant help thinking that there is something wrong. But I am glad to hear that I do not live in Texas, would probably drop into the teens there. Shaun
  10. What is "normal" temp for a first gen? My bike likes to run just below the red on the stock gauge. The fan comes on and off like it should. On the highway it runs a little cooler, but not much. Do I need to flush the system out again? If I just cruise around town my legs will get reel warm reel quick. It is WAY worse running the side covers than without. Any ideas? Shaun
  11. You know I had a Lincoln that would do the exact same thing. About every six months to a year it would fry a module. It turned out that when I would turn on the key it would fire a coil in an odd way that would take out the module. Upon almost 6 months of searching and testing we found that the coil had a intermittent short that caused it. Replaced the coils, drove it for another few months and sold the car. The guy that bought it from me still drives it and has never had to replace another module. That short was a nightmare to find. Best of luck, Shaun
  12. Very nice. Good work, looking forward to seeing the finished paint job. Shaun
  13. That is not what you want to hear when you start your day. Member or not it is always a sad day to hear of another rider going down and even sadder when they do not live through it. I will keep there families in my prayers. Shaun
  14. You are in our prayers as well. Shaun
  15. I was talking to a tire guy and he mentioned a foam insert that he can get to put into the front tire. Supposedly if I run over something and cut the front tire it will allow me to maintain control and safely stop. I had never heard of this before but it did make me wonder. Is it worth the $35 bucks plus the extra few bucks to have him put it in? Anyone ever hear of it before? Shaun
  16. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:
  17. I will be using motorcycle superstore. They are $75 cheaper than my local dealer. Shaun
  18. Figure out what all you need for her and I am sure that people here can help you out. I have a few parts laying around here. Just let us know what you need. Shaun
  19. Just thought this was neat. The bike some of us started with, a small dirtbike then on through the smaller street bikes on to the large touring bike. Did not have a sport bike to add to the lineup though, used to have a ton of fun on a Honda CBR. Shaun http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu264/reddog170/DSCF7053.jpg
  20. Gone in a flash. Must be talking about the ice cream, LOL. It was a great day for riding here as well. Wes so nice to hit the road. Glad you were able to enjoy it. Shaun
  21. Basically I need a bike with three things 1 low seat height as she is only 5'4" tall. 2 not a lot of power, she has never drove a bike before and the last thing is something that wont scare her right off the bat. My silverwing she said it spooks her as she is tip toe to hold it up, no way I am going to let her try my venture and my seven year old says she is not allowed on his, says she is to big. The Buell that I found the guy that is selling it says "No joy rides" and will let me start it but not ride it. That ,for me, was a deal breaker. If I cant test it out I am not interested. Now I did find a couple small cruiser style bikes at the Yamaha shop. But a new bike when she probably wont ride it an entire season? This is frustrating. I do not remember finding my first bike to be that hard. Course I have been on bikes sense I was 8. But the Beull is a no go. Will keep looking. Shaun
  22. If you can come up with all of that then why cant you come up with a good live trap then take them to the shelter. Shaun
  23. They grow up fast dont they. Shaun
  24. Well I have been kinda looking for a bike my wife can learn on. I ran across a 2009 Buel Blast 500. They are asking $2600 for it. I have NO experience with Buel bikes. I also do not know about the pricing, is it worth the asking? It has about 20,000 miles on it and some scuffs and scrapes from normal use and what looks like a light laydown. Any ideas? Thank You, Shaun
  25. Congrats!!! She is cute. Remember as grandparents it is your job to spoil her, LOL. Shaun
