  1. My daughter and her husband is looking at them for the mileage claim is pretty darn good for a sport utility. Like to know the pros and cons of this vehicle.
  2. Got back from Pontiac Car club Car Show in Simcoe Ontario last night with a third place win with my 2000 Roadstar Silverado -out of 6 bike entered in show,There were 4 sport bikes and a on/off road like scooter which was chopped and lowered.Got fair judging I think as I didn't think I would even got a second look competing against the more popular Sport Bikes that everyone usually likes.
  3. Ran in to this video on a nother site. Made me think of a post I read on here the other day. Some one was going to get rid of his plush ride for a Yahama new Duel Sport. Some about a Bucket List to do. Bella Coola July 2011 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fSbd8eCgqE]‪Bella Coola July 2011‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]
  4. Packed up my daughter from Keuka College today and saw a Midnight Venture, clear tail light (and a white sport bike) today at the Meaner Wiener today in Penn Yan. (Ny) anyone here?
  5. INTERESTING OBSERVATION 1. The sport of choice for the urban poor is BASKETBALL. 2 The sport of choice for maintenance level employees is BOWLING. 3 The sport of choice for front-line workers is FOOTBALL. 4 The sport of choice for supervisors is BASEBALL. 5 The sport of choice for middle management is TENNIS. And.... 6 The sport of choice for corporate executives and officers is GOLF. THE AMAZING CONCLUSION: The higher you go in the corporate structure, the smaller your balls become. There must be a ton of people in Ottawa playing marbles! O0H YES !!!!
  6. Just thought this was neat. The bike some of us started with, a small dirtbike then on through the smaller street bikes on to the large touring bike. Did not have a sport bike to add to the lineup though, used to have a ton of fun on a Honda CBR. Shaun http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu264/reddog170/DSCF7053.jpg
  7. I have had the opportunity this past week to try out my friends 2009 Honda St 1300 . while he tryed out my FJR 1300 I'll make this real short We both came to a conclusion that The FJR is a true.......Sport Touring Scoot.... 90%- Sport,,,, 10% Touring While The Honda St 1300 Is a Touring Sport....90% Touring.....10% Sport,
  8. i have a 98 RS that i have turned into a single seat with no saddle bags to make it look more smooth..... i still have my leather suit from when i used to race on my sport... anyone ever worn a full leather suit on a cruiser before??lol... just curious
  9. Before spring breaks loose, I am looking for a medium sized sport tourer for my son. He finished his season with the ninja 250 and I'd like to get him something to go on a trip with me. But he doesn't like the looks of a full dresser or the harley style either. He is at a fickle age so I'd like to get something that I wouldn't mind taking out either. It doesn't have to be a yamaha, just something that would be comfortable to ride all day. And I don't mind buying a used bike and actually prefer them. Got any recommendations for a used sport tourer? Iowa Guy:7_6_2[1]:
  10. Just recieved my new Avon Venom tires yesterday.I got them in 3 business days from Southwest Moto tires.Fast and a good price.I noticed that even though they are not mounted yet it appear's they are narrower then the D404,s that are on the bike now.I ordered stock size,s for both the front and rear.Do they appear that way when mounted?I can see why people say they handle better. They look more like sport tire,s then criuser tire,s.What tire preussure should I run?I ride more 2 up and sport like(meaning more curves then highway). Also the rear is actually taller then the front tire.Is this the case with the D404,s?And are the Venoms actually the same over all height?I was wondering because of the whole ride height thing.I,m not going to get a chance to mount them to the weekend get,s here.

    ATV 4x4

I'm sure some of you have a ATV and more knowledge than I do. I have always wanted to small tractor with a bucket however I just can't justify it. So after this last snow storm we saw a ATV with a plow on it on a trailer. Just wondering how they do pushing snow? With all the models does anyone have any neat web sites that explain which models are 4x4 and which modles are sport ATV's? When I do searches some are just 2 wheel drive or they are a sport ATV when I'm looking for an utility ATV and 4 wheel drive. Any info is appreciated? Also, anyone have a Wildfire brand? Thanks. Spotsy
  12. Here is something new coming out as a American V4 sport tourer. http://motusmotorcycles.com/statichome.html Looks like a little to much sport for me though. Its good to see an American product coming out but Id like a little more comfort though 2nd passenger also.
  13. Hi Everyone,, I have been lurking alittle bit, Getting onfo on reliability, comfort, Performance etc.... Anyone here gone from Sport Touring(anything) to the Venture?? 2 years ago when I bought my ST1300, I looked at the Venture and really liked it but, it was larger than I wanted at the time and I was interested in the Sport side of riding too. So I went with ST because it was supposed to better at 2UP than some of the other Sporttouring rides, other than maybe BMW, (too much $$$ & too Much Maint.$$$ for me) I like the power of the ST & I love the Electric Wind Screen, but the bike is a Pain the in A@# to get on and off, when riding 2UP. That is why I am back to the Venture. I will find something later to Quench my thirst for Sport/Adventure Touring later. I want the wife to enjoy riding, more than I need Speed. So Please Let Opinions Fly, when you have time of course. Seems like a cool group of people on this site. Later Tom E. Bryceville FL aka "Verninator"
  14. While out riding yesterday, a guy aproached me and asked if I would be interested in a 2003 midnight venture royal star With 13,000km on it. I think he said he would like 12,000 CDN for it but I am not 100% sure. In any case I told him I would post it on our web site. I also gave him my e-mail address so he could send me some pics. His reason for parting with it is that he went back to a sport bike, that the venture was just too tame for him ( he should have got a 1st gen). His name is RON his contact info is op_eng@hotmail.com and his phone number is 519-377-2734
  15. http://powersports.honda.com/2009/dn-01.aspx This has rather interesting styling. Might be a great ride for my better half. FI, ABS, Automatic Trans. I really like that combo of sport bike style and cruiser fit. What do you all think?
  16. Does anyone here know anything about this trailer? If you have one, any regrets/praises? Thanks in advance.
  17. My first bike show was Saturday and I WON 1st place in sport class! http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd227/SaltyDawg83/Brandy11RS.jpg http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd227/SaltyDawg83/MavelusRS.jpg http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd227/SaltyDawg83/TankPSRS.jpg

  19. http://helloquizzy.okcupid.com/tests/the-motorcycle-personality-test Have some fun....my bike came back as a Ducati 996 (ahhhhhhh)....just gives you sport bike haters another reason to not like me:rasberry:. Have fun. Curt
  20. I had to go to Hawaii and Alaska recently for business (yea, rough job). In both places I had a very pleasant rental experience and wanted to recommend the places in case any of you get the chance to go there. Hawaii - In Honolulu the rental company I used was Big Kahuna Rentals http://www.bigkahunarentals.com. In the cruiser style they had some Harleys and a couple of smaller Honda Shadows. I rented a 750 Shadow, it was perfect for the island, after all there ain't a whole lot of miles there. Alaska - In Anchorage I used Alaska Rider http://www.akrider.com. Their cruisers were all Harleys. I rented a KLR 650 dual sport for my off day, first time on a dual sport, but then again I did get on some roads I would not have wanted to be on with the Venture.
  21. My dad and I do a lot of riding together. Before I purchased my 2nd gen. Venture, we both used the 2 channel Multi Sport Chatter Box(http://www.chatterboxusa.com/hjc_frs.html). My Chatter Box no longer works and am concidering getting a head set for the Venture. I am still unsure as to what headset to get because I want quality sound from my radio so I will probably have to dish out some coin and get the more expensive J&M headset. My question is can I communicate with a 2 channel Multi Sport Chatter Box using the CB on my Venture? I am by far no electronics expert, but looking in the owners manual for both, the radio frequencies are not compatible. If I cannot communicate with the 2 channel Multi Sport Chatter Box, what alternative do I have? Maybe it will be easier to have my dad purchase a Venture.

  23. As much as I love an above average temperature day in the winter time, it seems it brings out the bad in motorcycling. We had a death from a single vehicle motorcycle crash where the 21 year old lost it due to too much speed. I could not tell exactly what kind of bike it was from the picture in the paper, but it looked like a sport bike with either most of the plastic torn off or a naked type bike. The guy had just recently gotten back from Afghanistan with the 82nd airborne. RandyA
  24. Well Folks I have been talking with Nancy about the purchasing of a set of training wheels for our bike! Due to my loss of strength from Chemo treatments and also in consideration of Squidley's accident while visiting here, I feel it would be a good investment. I spoke with Frog Man on the phone last night to get his imput on the Voyager Kit (Thank You) and I believe that is the way I will go. It seems a little expensive for what you get but what isn't for our favorite sport! I can always remove it if I get to ever feeling better. I would love to make more rides and and meets this year and I believe this would make that possible. I know it would ease Nancy's mind as she is afraid I will be out and drop the bike! I don't suppose I will be able to purchase a used one anywhere so we will have to bite the bullet and get new! Just don't laugh when you see the Dog coming........... Mark
  25. Merry Christmas to the VentureRiders and everyone who rides a Venture (or a Gold Wing, a BMW, a HD, a sport bike, a sport tourer......) Curt (Concours / FJR Rider)
