  1. I just went through the tire thing with Jacksonville Powersports of Yulee Fl.,, Their Prices changed after speaking with a different person to confirm pricing. Here goes:: Dunlop E3 Rear: $213.00 installed + $32.50 Additional Labor Fee to remove & install Bags Total $245.00 for 1 Tire Metzler ME880 Rear : $194.00 installed + $32.50 Additional Labor Fee to remove & install Bags. $226.50 for 1 Tire. Your prices are alot better,,, I need to talk to them again about their pricing, see what happens. Later Vern
  2. I realize buying direct from warehouses you get items much cheaper. However,, its alot like people buying all their postage online , or paying everything online,,,, Keep doing that and all the US Postal workers will also be unemployed too. .44 cents for a Stamp is pretty Cheap when you consider what you're paying for. Look past the Stamp. To me using the dealers helps my local economy, & I get to spend what little FREE time I have riding instead of turning wrenches,,, Which I do 6-7 days a week at work & Side Jobs. and working on my Property. Our country/people,,,, Well we aren't helping the small guys in our own communities by buying from L.A. or IL. There's not much profit in one tire @ $194.00 When you're paying for Building, Employees, Insurances, supplies, ETC...... I'll help my community as much as possible as long as they continue to be logically competitive, polite and cool place to hang out for alittle while,, Never know who you'll meet while waiting on a tire. 3. Hey Ruffy,,,,, NO I ReFuse to deal with Purcells, they are know for very Questionable buisness practicies. well they just suck. I normally use Beach blvd powersports, Sam G is really cool ( Parts Mgr) but the last time I put tires on my ST 1300 the price was too high and I was charged M&B, normally i wasn't. the OTD was $265.00 for a Rear AVON Storm . So I am shopping for better Prices.I would like to try the E3's see what kind of Miles I can get out of them. Thanks again for the input Vern
  4. thanks everyone,,,, lots of good input Goose,, the size you gave was what I was looking for, When I asked the Stealer, about the E3's we both were using 150/80-15,, I new I had seen the MV85-15 but didn't remember. I was considering the ME 880's,, have always had good experience with them but have heard a few people here were having problems with them. I wanted to try something new. The Stealer that I am using for the first time, is Jax PowerSports in Yulee, Fl. She quoted the Rear ME880 @ 194.00 OTD free M & B. I have used their Store on Atlantic blvd for tires a few times and they did a very good job, no problems, money was right, done on schedule. I'm going to ask another goofy ??? Why are the sizes listed different. i.e. 150/80-15 as opposed to MV85-15? Thanks Vern
  5. I asked my local Stealer to check on the Dunlop Elite 3' for my 09' venture, they said that Elite 3's didn't have size for the Venture. So is there a different size listed for that tire, for the Venture?? What am I missing ? besides the usual IQ stuff. My Factory Rear tire is done at 6200 miles,, I keep it at correct press, etc... no burnouts Thanks Vern
  6. Every school on the planet should make it mandatory for 14 year olds and up watch that video. No exceptions, Might save some lives. Later Vern
  7. Hello Everyone,, I had to cancel my trip out to Florida caverns due to an Emergency Service Call Saturday morning. Work. Most of my Vacation time this year was used to work for other people or Repairs/ Improvements on my Property. So the week of T-Giving I am off with NO Service call responsibility. I have lived in Florida for 20 years and have never made it to the Florida Keys. I am considering taking a senic ride through middle of Florida/backroads to the Keys. Maybe leave on Monday ride back on Wedesday, if I can find real cheap places to snooze, shower, etc... Anyone Else planning a ride or is everyone just talking about riding. LOL Anyone else want to head south? Does anyone have a suggestion of cheap/good place to stay in Key Largo, $50-70 per night.? Camping Cabin, RV Rental, B&B, etc..... Any Opinions welcome. LAter Vern
  8. Hello Anyone,Everyone, Etc.... Whoooo Hooooo!!! I am planning a " Bike & Hike " to the Florida Caverns in Marrianna Florida. November 6th. They have some Hiking Trails on the property which I am planning on Hiking, as well as the 35-40 minute tour underGround. I will be taking US-90 west all the way. It is actually a nice ride, and will pick a different route for the return trip. Probably leave my house in Bryceville at 7:15 am ( If I can get my Night Owl wife outta bed ) meeting my friend ( Rodney C. also rides a 09' Venture) in McClenney Florida at the gas station next to Hardee's, on Hwy 121 @ 7:45 am . The cost to get in, I think is donation but you can check online if interested. Would like to be on the road by 8:15 am. It is about 4.0 hours to the Caverns. Get lunch somewhere on the way, Hang out on-site til 3-4:00 pm 'ish, Then head for home, everyone is always welcome to do as you please as far as schedule and your own departure time and route. I like long days, Sometimes I don't know when to go Home. I carry a Backpack with water/Gatoraid, hiking stick, for the wife & I, and wear Hiking boots so I am Comfy on the hike. If interested let me know, if you would like a cell # to contact me. Thanks Tom E. aka Vern
  9. For those of us that live on Dirt or Sand roads (like my crappy road in florida) with the venture having a low seat height, fat tires front and back, I can ride even when the sugar sand is 7-8" deep. I couldn't go anywhere on my ST1300 when the road was alittle dry. I love the Venture, the wife likes it, the V-4 is superb. 4-500 miles on a Saturday just goofin off is easy to do. Later Vern
  10. Did you try adjusting the original Factory horn.. There is a screw on the back of the that allows the sound vibration to make noise. On my new '09 the horn on the right side did NOT work. I removed horn Backed out the screw and resealed it with silicone so the screw won't move during use. My Factory horn is pretty Darn loud and I didn't have to give up more of the stuff (money)that the crappy Government is giving to everyone who doesn't work or is Illegal. There's my .02 cents, its really only worth .025 cents Later Vern
  11. Hey Everyone,, Vern Here,,, I have been enjoying my new 09' Venture,,, Today I was up at 3:00am hit the road, Met my friend Rodney @ I-10 & Chaffee RD at 4:30AM we headed to the A1A and Atlantic Blvd. I usually won't go near Jax Beaches area on the weekend, Traffic is a Giant JAM, but I wanted ride to Daytona on A1A. It was great @ 5:30 am . we stopped watched the Sun Rise,, had B-Fast at the Beachcomber Restuarant ( St. Augustine Fl. ). Its about 3 miles south of hwy 312, turn left on "A" Street. Go to the Ocean, it doesn't look like much, but the food was great,, huge 10" pancakes. ( Assorted Flavors), its a small place. we ate out side, service was great. Bike is doing well, wish it had an electric windscreen, the dealer did not properly clean the front rotors, front brakes are squealing their A@# off, I've cleaned the pads and Sanded the Rotors, its alittle better, but not correct. Will replace Pads. Went to the J & P store on US 1, Looked at Farkles. I need alot more $$$$$$$$$ !! Anyway,, excellent bike, hope everyone had very good 4th OF July! I've enjoyed this site as well,, Seems like cool group of riders. Later Vern
  12. Hey Everyone,,, Did my other favorite Hobby today,,, Went Kayaking in the Northern end of the Suwanee River, about 11 miles lots of deer, couple river Otters, and some cool Snakes. Saturday, I am getting on the Venture for some all day riding, down through Ocala, and back. Nuttin but Backroads. I am looking for a Black LED Brake Light wing/Spoiler for the Trunk of my 09' Venture. I have the Red & Black, I want a Black Spoiler. I'm not wanting to pay $250.00. I really want better brake light visibility & a MUCH better horn, and will knock out the Exhaust Soon. Does that Void The warranty??? ANYONE,, ANYONE? Hope all is well, and the riding has been good for all !! Later "Vern on a Venture"
  13. Thanks for all the helpful replies, I will be checking more of your suggestions today. Hopefully I can whip it. I really DON'T wanna go to the dealer. I 'm Slightly STUBBORN. Later Vern
  14. Hey SC98 You caught that statement about the " Motor running and all the doors shut" I was checking to see if anyone was going to call the suicide hotline?? LOL Sorry I couldn't resist!! Yes,,, I am really liking Venture,,, I should have bought it 2 years ago. Glad I did this year.. The Audio thing doesn't bother too much, I just like everything to work properly. I have never had a Radio on a Bike ever. I like riding, for the riding, and the people I meet, and places I wander to. Later Vern
  15. Hey Everyone,, hope all is well I have a pathetic 720 miles on my New 09' Venture( purchased on April Fools Day 2010) as of today. I was running around doing errands & stuff. The Radio, CD player, cuts out while riding, sitting at a light, scratching my butt, it doesn't matter. Sometimes with the engine not running, it plays just fine. So I called my dealer, asked if they had any thoughts. The Ser. Mgr asked a couple of ??'s like is the CB on, Did I read the Manual? ETC... & ( My Favorite ) Did you buy the bike here? If you have Factory Warranty, it doesn't matter where you buy it. He still gets the billable, & paid by Yamaha. If I want to bring it in, Leave it for the day, because it takes a long time to remove the Fairing. He seemed to have an attitude, Because I didn't buy from them, I did try, but the money wasn't right & The color of the bike was wrong. Anyway Sam G. Who is the Parts Manager at Beach Blvd Powersports in Jax., Fl. is really cool, I have been doing buisness with him for about 10 years, he's in my phone on speed dial. What is it with Service Departments??? I am A Factory Mobile Technician, I have to do Warranty work too, I get credit for the Travel, Labor, Mileage, Parts. Its guaranteed work!! Why would they rather piss-off a good customer, than treat them like you want their buisness?? OK I'm done venting!! I lied ,, Now I'm done. I also do all my tires with them too. mounting & Balancing etc.. So Today when I got home,,, I did my first service, and I removed the front fairing,It didn't take very long at all, went looking for a bad connection, While the bike was running in my shop with all doors closed, I played with all the wires, did not find anything that seemed to cause a problem. Put it back together, CD & Radio work fine. Until I am going down the road, then it will go goofy again, maybe not?? Anyone have a simuliar problem??? I am really liking the Venture. It works much better on my sand road, so I can now ride when ever I want. The wife really likes backs seat too, and alot more room, and the Floorboards are great too. Ok I'm done for alittle while. Later Vern
