  1. Went to look at the new Cross Country tourer yesterday. Took a ride and WOW. Very nice machine. The dealer told me to come back and take it for an afternoon. Now that is good relations. The dealer is an Indian dealer also and I have known him for a couple years. I will take him up on that when the weather improves.
  2. I got this in a email today from Motorcycle U.S.A. http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/659/9429/Motorcycle-Article/Motus-MST-Tourer-Public-Debut-at-Daytona.aspx?WT.i_e_dcsvid=1034585792
  3. I just saw an ICM on Ebay and was wondering if there is a difference in the ICM of these two bikes. The reason I ask is the Honda Valkyries the ICM is different between the Interstate and the Standard or Tourer. The Interstate has a little bit more spark advance in the mid range RPM which give a bit more power in that area. I put a Interstates ICM on my Tourer and it is quite a noticeable improvement. No more flat spot. Much more linear power-band. Just Curious. Still trying to learn everything I can about this bike. Tom
  4. Ok was this close to getting a Vision Tourer yesterday until the following: The Victory dealer was a pleasant surprise, he took the time (about 5 hours), he let both my wife and I ride the bike (most dealers around will not allow that to happen) and at the end wanted to know what needed to be done to the bike to make it better. From what I have read, the 2011 was supposed to have the tranny, but on this bike the tranny during shifting banged (clunked) whatever noise you want to call it, but this did not feel or sound right from what everyone was saying about the new tranny. Once we got on the open roads, huge vibrations at all mph and in any gear, NOT what I expected to have happen on this bike. Told dealer about the issues, mechanic came out and said nature of the beast. Dealer let me test ride the Victory Vision 8 Ball (2011). Came back and told dealer, DAY and Night difference in the tranny and no vibration like I felt with the VV Tourer (2011). Dealer told me he agreed with my assessment, they are going to have the Victory Tech take a look at the bike. Later on that night did some more digging, come to find out the VV 8 ball uses cable actuated clutch, not the hydrolic actuated clutch. Other VV Tourer owners are having their bikes converted to the cable version, no clunks or bangs and shifting much smoother. Next was the Mechanic's area (passenger), she said the seat felt great and loved the heated seat (great day yesterday for testing that), but NO ROOM, she was practically sitting on my back. Dealer could not believe the Venture had that much room for the passenger, but he is convinced now. She was fidgeting the whole 75 mile test ride. But for the rider loved the ergonomics of the bike, just to many issues with the mechanics and passenger area. If it was just me, I would have this bike over the Venture due to the ergonomics of the rider area. The clutch and vibration can be fixed, but not the passenger room. But I will be keeping the Venture for now, just hoping Yamaha comes out with a surprise for 2012.
  5. Before spring breaks loose, I am looking for a medium sized sport tourer for my son. He finished his season with the ninja 250 and I'd like to get him something to go on a trip with me. But he doesn't like the looks of a full dresser or the harley style either. He is at a fickle age so I'd like to get something that I wouldn't mind taking out either. It doesn't have to be a yamaha, just something that would be comfortable to ride all day. And I don't mind buying a used bike and actually prefer them. Got any recommendations for a used sport tourer? Iowa Guy:7_6_2[1]:
  6. i came across an add for the V-STAR 950 TOURER in the paper yesterday.. it really seems like the kinda bike for me.. it has electronic fuel injection, v- twin,v windsheild, saddle bags, passenger backrest, and was selling new for under $9,000. does anyone here have one or know of someone who does ,and what do they think? I was thinking that this might be the answer when wanting to downsize to a easier to handle bike.. whats your thoughts?
  7. Thinking of trading in my midnight venture on a 1300 tourer. Its an 02 with 21,000 mile. Longest ride i do is 200-400 miles maybe 2 or 3 times a year, but think i will miss the comfort of the venture. Thanks for any opinions
  8. I was wondering where I can get headsets to plug into my '90 Royales Intercom/CB/Stereo system. I am new to the whole 'tourer' thing and dont even know what to look for. Thanks, Brian
  9. This change is not for me, I am Love the VFR and can do 600 to 800 mile days in the twisty stuff and not feel beat. The wife however, is a completely different story and I think the RSTD might fit the bill. So tell me please, brothers of the road, who here has gone from a SPORT-tourer to a Tourer and what are you thoughts. BTW looking at the RSTD as it has the best engine format ever for a motorcycle, the mighty V4.
