  1. Glad you're okay. If I recall, standing in front, looking at the bike, it's the first screw on the right side that has a hole and other 5 have a slot. I would guess to say you'll find the bottom of that hole broken off, the windshield got loose and the rest is history. Either way, let us know what you discover. Good luck and glad the two of you are okay. Spotsy
  2. A buddy of mine had his son get a ticket like this on a two lane road. It was thrown out by the judge because this law only pertains to a 4 lane road or larger road in Va. One of the county officers was trying to drum up some extras revenue I guess. Spotsy
  3. Thanks Old Bear. That's exactly what I did. Instead of upgrading I bought a new one. I see Bowling Green, just around the corner. Did you get to ride today? Me and a buddy did a little over 300. Went 64 to Afton, back roads over to Raphine, then through Goshen Pass, Staunton, Waynesboro, Elkin, and back across the mountain on Rt 33 to Orange and home. Hope you got to ride a little somewhere. Spotsy
  4. Thanks guys. Spotsy
  5. Ben, thoughts and prayers go out to your Dad, you and everyone. Okay, I'm quilty that a buddy called and wanted to ride today. It was a good day and the thing about it, 2 different times today I reminded myself to be extra careful as thought about what you are going through. So you are in our thoughts and prayers more than you know. Take care Ben. Spotsy
  6. I had a Garmin 550 that I bought in 07. At Christmas I got a new 255W (I think that's the model) and I dpownloaded the new maps 2010.3. Can I use that update on the older 550 as well? Or will it somehow disable the older 550 unit? Thanks. Spotsy
  7. Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. Get well soon Ben. Spotsy
  8. Like someone else, mine went out last year and I built the house in 93. Call Lowe's and they said bring it back. Gave me a new one and I was happy. If you plan on being somewhere a lifetime, a lifetime warranty works. Of course, I would have been happier if they had installed it as well. LOL The one thing that surprised me. From 93 to 09, I took the lines loose and tightened the lines up on the new one. No changing anything. Can'y remember the last time that happened. usually after 6 months you have to redo everything. Spotsy
  9. I just wish I could see what everyone's talking about. I blinked and missed it I think. No, my mistake. That's what happens when you have super fast dialup. LOL Spotsy
  10. Great to hear Squidley. Congrats Spotsy
  11. Well, it was ceratinly great to put a few more faces with names. I certainly enjoyed the day and just thankful that the rain had melted all the ice out of my driveway the weekend before so I could attend. Like Bigfoot, only about an hour each way so it was good. Todd, I hope you didn;t get to cold on your way home. LOL Thanks to all that made it because I certainly enjoyed being there. Spotsy
  12. Dang Bigfoot. I didn't read this till I got home. Would have told you good luck earlier. I had one back in 93 and it came out without help. I can tell you, I never knew something so little could hurt so much. Looked a tad bigger than a grain of sand. Good luck. Spotsy
  13. 01 Gran Am (the better half) 135K 96 Cavalier 219K and counting, 34 MPG 71 Ford F100 180K (with a battery tender) LOL 99 Venture (not enough mileage)
  14. Like everyone else has said great route. My 2 cents worth. I ride the BRP all the time so if you have specifics please ask. SLD, great overlooks and the speed is 35 all the way to the BRP. I would say about 6 or so hours from Front Royal to Afton Mountain at Rt 64. that's taking your time and hitting a few overlooks. Watch your speed because it's federal. The SLD has better overlooks in my opinion. They keep them cut back so you can see better. You get a lot more slow people on the SLD so be aware. The BRP is 45 for the most part and the curves are more rolling so it's very enjoyable. Either place, keep your eye out for wildlife. Not far after you get on the BRP you have Humpback Rocks. Nice 2 hour walk if that's your cup of tea. :-) BRP, you have Big Meadows camping if that's your thing. Always deer in the meadow just before dusk. On the BRP there is a great place at Meadows of Dan for camping, Willville motorcyle camping and Mabry Mill is just before that. Great place to see how it was a few years back. I have never been there but Grandfather Mountain looks neat in NC. I'm not sure what else is down south. Spotsy
  15. Hey Duke, heated gear? And all this time I thought you rode bareback. LOL Spotsy
