1. I still have the one that came with the bike in 1987, i do lube it twice a year bike has about 50000 miles no problems
2. Maybe since the bolts are too tight and when the motor gets hot the metal expandes and that causes gasket to leak(?) or tear, ps i always use gasket sealer on everything and have never had any leaks.
3. wow Don you are right i did as you said and it took care of the problem, thank's for the help .
4. don i get the redirect message also , last night and today using home computer with IE but when using laptop with firefox it redirects to home page no problems. when on IE the redirect message comes up i go back to favorites and click on venturerider site it comes up and i am signed in. never had any problems before the update. now on to see what everyone has been up too.
5. yes they are, i went from the ones you put in to the iridium dpr8eix-9 and my 87 vr runs better so i will use the iridium plugs from now on. just my worth.
6. Just a thought are the caps sending spark to head or maybe cracked insulators on plug arking to head. i ask because i don't see two sets of wire caps sending spark to head and did you replace the wires just a thought.
7. I have these on my 87 and i love them .they have been on for three years and no rust .
8. YOU could try push starting it to see if it will start that way and if it does start it's the starter clutch not working.
9. If your not getting any compression when you push the starter button and no spark to plugs and no gas to the plugs it could be your starter clutch slipping and not turning over the motor. Like you said crank not turning ,you need to check STARTER CLUTCH before you do anything else. just my thoughts:whistling: IN your first post you say you heard a whining noise that noise is the starter clutch slipping. In post #4 you say this has progressively got worse over time just like a starter clutch going out. Put bike on center stand put bike in gear push starter to see if rear tire moves, if not starter clutch not working, had this problem on my 87VR replaced starter clutch (from DANOs starter clutch upgrade) and have not had a problem since.
10. This is what my friend has on his VTX works great , it has a shutoff valve you open and it drains into the main tank. It holds 2.5 gal.
11. This happened to me last year, same thing fan stoped i took fan out oiled it spun it with a drill then put greese on bearings ,reinstalled it and it worked for 1 week until new fan came in and i installed it. while your at it have them install a new capasitor because mine went out after the fan was put in.
12. Wrong again cupcake that is a vetter faring and it is a fork mounted one so there for it is like a 2nd gen (front part of that bike is a honda goldwing)
13. when i did mine i used a dremal tool with a cutting disk and cut it in stages first the outer retainer that holds the bearings once thats out then i scored the remaning metal with dremel tool and used a small chisle or screwdriver to split it in half. To get the new bearing on i heated up the new one in some oil and slid it on. to get the races out i used a long punch about 1 foot long and used the two spots ruffy talked about and drove them out.
14. Looks like a good time, but i have two questions, what happened to Don long hair he had at your get together:confused24: and did snarly bill ride his bike down or trailer it as he did at mermac state park last year:stirthepot:
15. If it looks muddy the only reason for that is water or coolant is in with the oil , check your oil after a day or so and if it's muddy you have a leak. the oil got dark from the clutch slipping.
16. I don't think so , but i could be wrong, i am going to list a couple of things myself next week. Wish i could tell you more but others will let us know for sure.
17. clearview windshilds has one that is wider than stock there is a link on the venturerider site on lower right side. the one you want is the GT25 it is 4 inches wider.
18. just paid mine also thank's for reminding us Don.
19. close but mine said to adjust the restrictors until they just stop bouncing and stay steady, i have the same gauges you do and also a new motion pro set and they both work well i checked them against each other. also i adjust the gauges by teeing all gauges together to make sure they are reading the same. hope this helps. Ed.
20. maybe he don't want to use his real name because he has parking tickets that haven't been paid yet. we can just call him hey you.
21. the only problem i have with this is they are funding this with federal money and not there state money, no need for our fed money to be spent for one states inspections of only one type of transportation. fund it with there states money and pull over cars , trucks, and bikes and then most people won't have a problem with it.
22. I like my craftsman lift also , :dancefool:i have had it for 5 years now and no problems with it , i really like the foot release on it the last one i had you had to reach down to release it what a pain that was as your trying to keep the bike ballanced.
23. where did you buy the on/off switches i seen them but could not remember where i seen them at when i had the cash to buy them.
24. I think the hells angles need to show up and have a talk with the church members at there protests.
