There is 3/4 of a set of hard bags on the classifed section of this site under Royal Star listing, seems he is missing one lid, but that could be a start, maybe. Also there is a set of the leather slant bags like came on the 98 to 01 Tour Classics on the same section of the classifieds. Maybe not what you are looking for??

Add at least a half can of Seafoam to the fuel tank next time you fill up and run that tank out on a good hard run. Then add the second half of the can on the next fill up. When you get ready to park it for the night turn the petcock off and run it untill she dies due to fuel starvation. That may help, but if the bike has been sitting with gas in the carbs and the gas was not treated with a stabilizer, you could have a gum and varnish built up that may require a carb over haul. The Ethanol we get in the gas any more is a big contributor to carb issues on bikes that tend to sit more than they are ridden. I would continue regular Seafoam treatments for a while even if the condition initially clears up with the first two treatments.

If you are going to pull it with your 2011 Venture and you get ready to make the connection to the bike's wiring harness remember my post in the classifieds, it will make things a lot easier. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3961&title=auxillary-taillight-harness&cat=7

Jeff Sounds like you are doing much better, glad to hear that things are improving. Keep up with the PT but do not over do it and cause a set back. Good luck, hang in there.

Got one from I guy I met at a Meet and Eat in south Florida, I emailed with him a few times on some issues, then a similar plea for help. Oh well I hope they make it home OK.

It is possible that there is a short circuit on the board. Did you check the fuse that protects the lighting circuits? If it is blown, replace it and put the old bulb back in to see if it anything works. If that works look very closely at the board and the harness that goes from the plug to the board, make sure it did not get pinched under the lens cover or something. If it is the board or the cable I would try to return it to the vendor for a replacement. Got any pictures of the LED board and associated cable and plug?

Rick Any posibilty that the bike was sold in California or maybe originally destined for delivery in CA? The model number will have a "C" or "CA" in it if it was. Maybe it has to do with additional emmissions controls that are reqired on CA vehicles. I tried to look ay 07 using an inspection mirror and could not locate anything like you have described , but there is a lot stuff inhibiting a decent view of that area.

Noise like a fan belt squeek
M61A1MECH replied to jrsain's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Yep those are stock Tour Deluxe pipes with the removable / roatatable tips. I have seen them put on a Venture with stock pipes, but be advised that the Tour Deluxe mufflers have threaded inserts in the cones on the mufflers to accept the screws that hold the tips on. For the Venture mufflers you would need to use some short stout stainless steel sheet metal screws to ensure they stay there and do not rust out. -
Oh yeah just ask Ruffy about that elbow grease, he just did his front forks on his 99 Venture, from the hotos they look great.

Yep, been to Leesburg Bikefest many times, right in the heart of some of the better riding in central Florida. Usedcycles - Was it you that was having issues with your passing lights, I never saw any closure on that issue, did you figure it out?

The city of Daytona Beach is not trying to attract the bikers anymore, both of the bike events that happen here each year have been in decline since 911. The economy has taken its toll and Rothmeyer moved his Harley dealership north to Ormond because a dispute with the city. A lot vendors and visitors spend time exclusivly in Ormond, I was out today and the crowds were very light and the vendors are down by probably a third from what they were 10 years ago. The motorcycle show at the Ocean Center was pitiful.

What I did, an wished I had not, was to enlarge the hole as far a possible after putting the K&Ns on my bike. I ended up with a severe flat spot upon medium to hard acceleration (bogged down). I was able to 98% compensate for that by reshimming the needles on the diaphrams, I can still feel it bog down every once and a while , but it is tolerable, if I had it to do over , I would not enlarge the intakes, I suppose I coould rejet , but it is not needed right now. .

Pretty much that is it, all Midnights come from the factory black and with additional chrome, like the front fork tubes, risers (maybe), clutch and brake master cyclinders and levers are chromed, on the Venture the filler panel in the saddle bag hinge says Midnight instead of Venture , I am not sure about the RSTD.

Can anyone tell me if the GEN I (MKI or MKII) use the same electrical conectors and pin out as the GEN II Royal Star Ventures do where the main harness connector to the rear light harness under the seat? I have started making a jumper harness for the GEN II Royal Star Venture and was asked if the harness will fit a GEN I MK II, but I have no clue and do not know any one in the area that has a GEN I of any type that could be used to check it out. Wiring diagram and pin out is attached, photos can be seen in the GEN II classifieds in my ad. Thanks for any info.

I thought he was talking about the threaded studs that are used to attach the seat to the bike, because the pillow top seats do not have decorative studs on them and I am pretty sure the Midnights that do have decorative studs never came with a pillow top seat.

Auxiliary brake light wiring
M61A1MECH replied to DarkLeftArm's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
in case anyone is interested, I have started to make and sell a patch harness that goes between the two connectors for the tail light harness where they connect under the seat. This will alow you to tap into the circuits without acually having to cut into the original bike harness, because you tap into the patch harness instead. See my listing in the clasified section. A 6", 8", 10" or 12" harness is $4.50 plus shipping from Edgewater, FL. -
I pulled a wire harness from my light bar to up under the driver seat and tapped into the original main harness. My trailer harness was tapped in at the same place, it worked but there not much free wire length to work with, so I built a 6" auxillary patch harness and moved all of the T-taps to the aux harness. I can build one more of the aux harnesses before I run out of parts , see my add on the classifieds section of this site. (Shameless plug for my add ) Price is $4.50 plus shipping, if there is enough interest I will continue to build and sell the harnesses. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3961&title=auxillary-taillight-harness&cat=7

Auxiliary brake light wiring
M61A1MECH replied to DarkLeftArm's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Those are the same as many of us have used, can be purchased from Signal Dynamics for between $25.00 and $35.00 depending on red or clear lens. -
What you describe sounds more like a loose wire, could be power or ground, if it were a short (that is power going to ground without a load) you would have a blown fuse somewhere. Could be the infamous bad / weak ignition switch that Royals are known to have.
-
Yes red to positive Black to ground. When trouble shooting for voltge issues always start at the highest voltage on your meter and work down the voltage range until you get a reading that is in the midle 2/3rds of the rang range, testing voltage with the range set lower than the expected max voltage can damage the meter. Also make sure your ground wires are also good and also tight, with our a path back to ground nothing will happen in an electric circuit. Good luck.
